Co-location warning:
This transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.
Limited Channels fixed for use in the US:
IEEE 802.11b or 802.11g or 802.11n(HT20) operation of this product in the U.S. is firmware-limited to Channel 1 through 11. IEEE 802.11n(HT40) operation of this product in the U.S. is firmware-limited to Channel 3 through 9.
OEM integration instructions:
This device is intended only for OEM integrators under the following conditions:
The antenna must be installed such that 20 cm is maintained between the antenna and users, and the transmitter module may not be co-located with any other transmitter or antenna. The module shall be only used with the external antenna(s) that has been originally tested and certified with this module.

As long as 3 conditions above are met, further transmitter test will not be required. However, the OEM integrator is still responsible for testing their end-product for any additional compliance requirements required with this module installed (for example, digital device emissions, PC peripheral requirements, etc.).
Validity of using the module certification:
In the event that these conditions cannot be met (for example certain laptop configurations or co-location with another transmitter), then the FCC authorization for this module in combination with the host equipment is no longer considered valid and the FCC ID of the module cannot be used on the final product. In these circumstances, the OEM integrator will be responsible for re-evaluating the end product (including the transmitter) and obtaining a separate FCC authorization.
End product labeling:
This transmitter module is authorized only for use in device where the antenna may be installed such that 20 cm may be

maintained between the antenna and users. The final end product must be labeled in a visible area with the following: “Contains Transmitter Module FCC ID: 2AELJ-ALX8XX”.
Information that must be placed in the end user manual:
The OEM integrator has to be aware not to provide information to the end user regarding how to install or remove this RF module in the user's manual of the end product which integrates this module. The end user manual shall include all required regulatory information/warning as show in this manual.

Alinket Technology Co. (Shanghai) Ltd. is a high-tech

ALX81X is the first Wi-Fi communication module
developed by Alinket, this document describes its mechanical
characteristics, module functionalities and testing setup. This
is a brief description document, for the detailed electrical
characteristics please refer to the document
<ALX8XXC/IProduct Specification>.
2.1 Default Wi-Fi Configuration
The ALX8XX Wi-Fi communication module uses Wi-Fi STA
mode by default, and the SSID is “alinket”, and the password
is “andersen”, all in lowercase.

Pin28 is used to implement the
restore-to-factory-default function, when the button was
pressed, the device will reboot, if the button was pressed
more than 5 seconds, the device will restore the factory
default settings. High level in normal operation and low level
to trigger the button.
Pin27 is connected to the AP indicator LED (output low
level signal while connected, and high level while
disconnected)

4.1 Preparation
Hardware: Wi-Fi communication module, a PC, a WiFi

4.2 Connect the Module to Serial Port

the baud rate to 115200, parity check NONE, 8N1 Data/Stop

4.4 Alinket Smart Configuration Software
4.4.1 Software Installation
Double click the installer ASCS.msi, until successfully
completed.
4.4.2 Software Usage
After installation, 3 desktop shortcuts will be created:
l “ASCS”
l “ASCS UartAssist”
l “ASCS TCPUDP”

4.4.3 UDP Server Configuration Description
l Choose “Configure” in the menuà“Configure Server”:
l Select the local network interface to communicate with ALX82x
modules.
l Set the UDP server port used to communicate with ALX82x
modules.
l Broadcast IP: used internally, use the default is OK.
l Broadcast port: must be 50007.
l Click “OK” to save UDP Server configuration.

4.4.4 Device Configuration Description
Wi-Fi mode select: STA, AP, STA+AP (will support later)
STA mode:
l TCP Server IP: the IP address of the running TCP server.
l TCP Server Port: the TCP port of the running TCP server.
l Serial Baud Rate
l Device Name: the module name identification.
l AP SSID: Router AP’s SSID to be connected by the
communication module.

l Auth Method: OPEN (no password), WPA2 MIXED PSK
(pre-shared key), WPA TKIP PSK, WPA ASE PSK, WPA2 TKIP PSK,
WPA2 AES PSK, WPA2 8021X AES PSK, WPA2 8021X TKIP PSK
l AP password: Router AP’s password to be connected.
Note: while selecting security method as: WPA2 8021X
AES PSK or WPA2 8021X TKIP PSK, need to configure below
parameters:
l User name: radius username
l User password: radius password
AP Mode:
l SSID: Module’s own SSID as AP.
l Auth method: OPEN (no password), WPA2 MIXED PSK
(pre-shared key)
l Password: password as AP, at least 8 bytes and mostly 30 bytes.
l Upgrade Method: Upgrade Firmware method(UART USB OTA)
Menu Buttons Description:
l “Read Config”: Read the configuration which device you
selected
l “Write Config”: Write the configuration which device you
selected.

l “Scan”: list all started devices and show them in the device list.
l “Re-configuration”: restore to default settings.
l “Clear Logs”: flush the logs in the console window.
Note: the device name, AP SSID, AP password, SSID and
password cannot exceed 30 bytes long.
4.4.5 Device Scan
Click the “Scan” menu button to re-scan all the connected
ALX82x Wi-Fi communication modules in local network
region, as depicted in below diagram:

4.4.6 Configure Device
Choose the IP address of the device from the device list to
be configured, click the configuration button, the device will
reboot after submitting the configuration, like below:

4.5 TCP/UDP Debugger Server Usage
We are using a TCP/UDP debugger tool called sokit, it can
be downloaded from: https://code.google.com/p/sokit/

Configure the TCP/UDP Server, select the host IP interface
which will be used to communicate with the ALX82x modules,
and set the TCP/UDP port to 50006, then click “TCP/UDP
Listen”, with the same configuration the ALX82x modules
should automatically connect to our TCP/UDP server:

4.6 Data Transferring
In Serial Debugger Console, type any characters at the
serial console of the ALX8XX module, and you should be able
to see the string received at the TCP server side terminal.

Note that the characters you typed in will not be echoed
back to the console, but you can see them at the TCP/UDP
debugger side, as below:

In the connected device list of the TCP server, select the IP
address of the ALX82x Wi-Fi communication module, and
send the “helloworld” string to the DAT:

And you will be able to see the “helloworld” string on the
serial console:

4.7 Disconnection and Re-connection
When the network signal gets awkward and unstable,
which caused the ALX82x module disconnected from the
network, the ALX82x module will automatically reconnect.
On the TCP/UDP debugger server select the ALX82x
device IP address in the “Connections” list, click the “Disconn”
button, you will see the ALX82x automatically detects this
event and will try re-connect to the TCP/UDP debugger
server.
On disconnection event, the module will print
hexadecimal 7e 01 aa 55, and after successfully reconnection
it prints hexadecimal 7e 01 55 aa.

4.8 Configure Static IP Address
ASCS Alinket smart configuration tool supports static IP
address setting after version 1.0.2:
l Set “Enable DHCP” to “No”
l Configure “Static IP address”, “Netmask” and “Default Gateway”
l Wi-Fi security method and AP password are the same as before
l Use “Scan” to find the device in the device list, select the device
to be configured, and click “Apply” to apply the configuration to

the device
l The ALX82x module will reboot and use the configured static IP
address to re-connect to the ASCS as well as the AP router
l If configured wrongly and cannot re-connect the ALX82x
module, restore to the factory default to solve the problem.
4.9 Configure 802.1x Authentication
ASCS Alinket smart configuration tool supports 802.1x
authentication setting after version 1.0.2:

l Set “Enable DHCP” to “No”
l Choose “WPA2_8021X_AES_PSK” as the “Security Mode”
l Set “AP SSID” to the connecting AP SSID
l Set the 802.1x authentication user name and password in the
“username” and “password”
l Use “Scan” to find the device in the device list, select the device
to be configured, and click “Apply” to apply the configuration to
the device
l The ALX82x module will reboot and use the configured
authentication secrets to re-connect to the AP router
