RADIO WAVES:
THIS CELLPHONE MEETS THE GOVERNMENT'S REQUIREM ENTS FOR EXPOSURE TO RADIO WAVES. Your cellphone is a radiotransmitter and receiver. Itis designed and manufactured not to excee d the emiss ion limits for exposure t o radio-frequency (RF) energ y.These limits are partof comprehensive guidelines andestablish permitted levels ofRF energy for the general population. The guidelines are basedon standards that were developed by independent scientific organizations through periodic and thorough evaluation of scientific studies. These guidelines include a sub stantial safety margin designed to ensure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health. The exposure standard for cellphones employs a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR.The SAR limit set by public authorities such as the Federal Communications Commission of the US Government (FCC), or by Industr y Canada,is 1.6 W/kg averagedover 1 gram of body tissue.Testsfor SAR are conducted using standard operating positio ns with the cellphone transm itting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. Although the SAR is determined at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level of the cellphone while operating can be well below the maximum value .This is because the cellphone is designedto operate at multiple power levelsso as to use only the power required to reach the network. In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lower the power outputof the cellphone Before a cellphone model is available for sal e to the public, co mpliance with national regulations a nd standards must be shown. The highest SAR value when tested is 1.1 W/kg (OT-305A), 1.13 W/kg (OT-508A) for use at the ear and1.16 W/kg(OT-305A),1.24W/kg (OT-508A)for use closeto the body. While there may be differences between the SAR levels of various cellphones and at variouspositions, they all meetthe government requirement forRF exposure. For bodyworn operation, the cellphone meets FCC RF exposure guidelines provided that it is used with a non-metallic accessory with the handset at least 1.5 cm from thebody. Use of other accessories may not ensure compliancewith FCC RF exposure guidelines. TheWorld Health Organization (WHO) considers that presentscientific information does not indicate the need for any spec ial precaut ions for use of cel lphones. If individuals are concerned, they might choose to limit their own or their children's RF exposure by limiting the length o f c alls, or us ing "h ands-free" devices to keep cellphones away f rom th e h ead an d b ody. (f act sh eet n °193). Additional WHO information abo ut el ectromagnetic fields and pu blic h ealth are available on the following website: http://www.who.int/peh-emf.
