Safety Information
Important Please read these instruction fully before installation.
Safety Precautions
For household and indoor use only.
Place the appliance on a flat, stable
surface with adequate ventilation and away from other sources of heat. Minimum distances around the appliance for adequate ventilation is 5cm. Do not cover or restrict ventilation openings.
Children should be supervised to
ensure they do not play with the appliance, and the appliance and cable should be kept completely out of reach of young children.
Fully unwind the cable before
plugging in and ensure the cable is positioned away from areas where it is likely to get damaged or cause a trip hazard.
Do not pull on cable to disconnect
form mains supply.
Do not operate the appliance if
damaged or after it malfunctions. In the event the supply cord is damaged, it must only be replaced by a qualified service engineer, with a suitably approved part.
This appliance is not designed for
use by children, or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, and should not be used by such persons unless they can do so safely. Where necessary, such persons (or anyone with lack of experience for knowledge) should first be given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Keep appliance, cable and plug dry
and away from areas where it is likely to get splashed. Avoid using in hot, humid environments.
Do not place items with naked
flames or containers with liquids on this appliance.
Switch off and unplug when not in
use and before cleaning or servicing the appliance. Servicing of this appliance must only be carried out by a qualified electrician.

readily unpluggable – do not use with ‘Lockable’ sockets or permanently wire to mains.

UK Mains plug information
This appliance must be connected to
a 230-240 volts 50Hz. AC supply by means of a three pin socket, and should be protected by a 3 Amp fuse.
If the mains plug is unsuitable for the
socket outlet in your home or is removed for any other reason, then the cut off plug should be disposed of safely to prevent the hazard of electric shock.
The wires in the mains lead on this
appliance are coloured in accordance with the following code:
Blue – Neutral
Brown – Live
Under no circumstances should
Neutral or Live wires be connected to the ‘E’ (Earth) terminal.

Battery installation
Note
To use the appliance with batteries ensure that the AC power cord is NOT inserted into the appliance and install the batteries into the battery compartment (9). To install the batteries –
1. Lift off the battery compartment
cover from the rear of the unit.
2. Insert 4 x Size “C” / UM-2 / LR14 (or
equivalent) 1.5V heavy-duty alkaline batteries in accordance with the diagram in the battery compartment. Take care to observe the correct polarity (+/ -).
3. Refit the battery compartment cover.

installed battery to excessive heat (eg fire, sunshine or position close to

AC Operation
This unit is supplied with a mains cable. Fit the AC power cord into the AC socket (8) of the appliance and plug into the household socket.

User Instructions
Radio operation
Using Headphones (not included)
1. Turn the volume control – on/off
knob (6) upward to switch the radio on.
2. Set the waveband selector (5) to the
required waveband.
3. Turn the tuning control knob (3) to
select the frequency and station of choice. The radio frequency scale will show the waveband selected.
4. Adjust the volume to the desired
level by rotating the volume control knob (6).
5. To turn off the radio, turn the
volume control – on/off knob (6) downward until a “click” sound is heard.
A headphone jack has been provided so that the set can be used without disturbing others. Plug in the 3.5mm headphones at the point marked ‘ ’. Turn the listening volume to the lowest setting before adjusting the volume up to your chosen level. Excessive sound pressure from earphones and headphones can cause hearing loss. The speaker will not operate when headphones are fitted.
Note :
The built-in AM and the external FM antennas are directional. If tuning into a FM station extend or move the antenna (2) for a better reception. If tuning into a AM station rotate the whole unit after tuning to obtain the best reception.

Care & Maintenance
Wipe external surfaces with a soft cloth. If the casing is very dirty, unplug from the mains supply and use a damp cloth soaked in a weak solution of washing up liquid and water. Allow to dry thoroughly before reusing.
