AKG Acoustics AS 4+3 User Manual

AS 4+3
Automixer
Description
The AS 4+3 is an easy to use and affordable gating automixer that can easily be integrated into any sound reinforcement, teleconferencing or recording application. The AS 4+3 has four balanced mic inputs and three unbalanced line inputs, as well as, one balanced line output and one unbalanced record/line output.
Each of the four mic inputs have integrated and adjustable compressor/levelers making the AS 4+3 an automatic level control system. The compressor/levelers can help maintain consistent audio level despite various signal strengths that may be present at the microphone inputs. NOM attenuation decreases by 3dB every time the number of in-use mics doubles. A switcheable ducking function will attenuate all other inputs by 12dB when signal is present at mic input #1. Dipswitches on the rear panel allow for the line inputs to be exempted from the automix and/or ducking functions in the mixer.
The AS 4+3 was designed to operate with various types of microphones. Dip switches on the rear panel allow for 24 volt phantom powering of condenser microphones. The preamp gain range for the mic input signal are switcheable on the rear panel while front panel controls provide fine adjustment of input and output signals for an exact match into whatever component follows the AS 4+3.
More than one AS 4+3 may be daisy chained via expansion port connection incorporating the automix functions so that all will work together as one unit.

DS-AS 4+3
The mixer shall be an automatic mixer capable of being daisychained, with four gated microphone inputs and three line inputs. The microphone inputs shall provide 24-V phantom power and a compressor limiter separately adjustable for each channel. The device shall be fitted with microphone inputs and a line output on 3-pin XLR connectors and line inputs and recording outputs on
RCA jacks. A switchable ducking function shall cause all other channels to be attenuated while there is activity in the MIC 1 channel. The mixer shall be fitted with a two-band equalizer (bass and treble) affecting only the main output signal. The automatic mixer shall be the AKG Acoustics Model AS 4+3.
