LifeStyle™ PowerPack
Instructions for Use
The optional LifeStyle™ PowerPack is a multi-battery charger and extended power source — all in one. With three fully charged batteries in this unit, you can now maximize your ambulation time with the LifeStyle Portable Oxygen Concentrator for more than three hours between recharges.
The LifeStyle PowerPack (Part No. BT011-1) is custom-designed to fit securely into the LifeStyle retractable cart (Part No. MI210-1), so that transport of your portable concentrator and its extended power source are self-contained and convenient to access.
To ensure proper use of your LifeStyle PowerPack, use only in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Pay attention to the caution and note messages, as applicable.
General Use of LifeStyle with the PowerPack
To optimize performance, always start out with fully charged batteries both in your LifeStyle unit and PowerPack.
Any new batteries must be initially charged a minimum of 12 hours. Thereafter, one to three batteries can be recharged in the PowerPack in approximately four hours.
To use the PowerPack with the LifeStyle concentrator, you need only to connect the short coiled power cord between both units’ 12 VDC connections (The yellow end of this cord connects to the PowerPack). When the PowerPack is in use with LifeStyle, the batteries in the PowerPack will be depleted first. This saves the battery in the LifeStyle unit (if fully charged to begin) to power the concentrator in ambulatory mode for approximately 50 minutes before recharging is required.
Use only with Glob-Tek AC adapter model GTM21097-5024.
Do not use the PowerPack outdoors in rain, snow, or other inclement weather conditions.
• Do not leave the PowerPack in an overheated automobile, or damage can result.
• Do not submerge PowerPack in water or allow water to drip into the unit from its openings.
• Dispose of defective batteries as required by local municipality.
For optimal performance, make sure batteries are at room temperature (approximately 68ºF/ 20ºC) before using in the PowerPack.
Do not leave batteries in the PowerPack if not in use for more than 12 hours, or a gradual discharge will result.
Battery Check
To check batteries to determine if recharging is needed:
1. Make sure that the PowerPack is disconnected from AC power and not connected to the LifeStyle portable concentrator.
2. Insert up to three batteries to be checked into the battery slots in the PowerPack. (The arrows on the batteries must point to the back of the unit.) (See Figure 1.)
3. Press the button corresponding to the battery to be checked below it. (See Figure 2.)
Initially, both the green and red lights will display, then just one of the lights displays for a few seconds to indicate the status of the battery being checked.
• The status of only one battery at a time can be verified; wait until the light goes out before pressing another button to check its corresponding battery.
• If battery light fails to display when pressing the corresponding button, first, connect the unit to, and then disconnect it from, the AC power source to reset the PowerPack circuit.
4. Observe the indicator lights above each button that corresponds to a battery in the PowerPack:
red: battery is less than fully charged, but has
power.
blinking red: battery needs to be charged or it will not
operate the unit.
green: battery is fully charged.
5. When one or more batteries indicate full charge, remove them from the PowerPack to check another battery in that same slot, or keep them in the unit to be ready for use.
• You cannot check batteries when the AC adapter is connected to the PowerPack.

Charging Batteries
The LifeStyle PowerPack allows you to charge one, two, or three batteries in the unit simultaneously. To maximize efficiency, charge three batteries to full capacity before use or before switching any additional batteries into the PowerPack slots.
• While charging batteries, you cannot run LifeStyle if connected to the PowerPack. Make sure that the coiled power cable is not connected between the LifeStyle unit and the PowerPack, and simply run LifeStyle from its own battery, an AC, or DC power source.
To charge batteries:
1. Make sure that the PowerPack is disconnected from the LifeStyle portable concentrator (the short coiled power cord is not connected to the LifeStyle concentrator).
2. Insert any batteries to be charged into the battery slots in the PowerPack. (The arrows on the batteries must point to the back of the unit.) (See Figure 1.)
3. Connect the PowerPack’s power supply/AC power cord first into the 24 VDC inlet and then into any standard AC wall outlet. (See Figure 3.)
Figure 3
4. Observe the indicator lights above each button that corresponds to a battery in the charger.
red: battery is charging. blinking red: no battery in slot. OR, battery temperature may be too hot or too cold; allow
green: battery is fully charged.
5. When a battery indicates full charge, remove it from the PowerPack to charge another battery in that same slot, or keep them in the unit to be ready for use.
• When charging batteries, the PowerPack is NOT functioning in battery check mode; therefore, any batteries just tested and displayed with a green light to indicate fully charged may not display as green for a half hour or more while the unit is connected to AC power and initiating its charging process.
battery to reach room temperature and then retry.
Use of the LifeStyle, PowerPack, and Cart as a Unit
For unmatched ambulatory flexibility with your LifeStyle Portable Oxygen Concentrator and PowerPack, a retractable cart provides you the mobility to go wherever you may — all with the unrestricted oxygen supply and power of LifeStyle.
As shown in the following illustrations, load, secure, and connect the LifeStyle concentrator and PowerPack as follows:
1. Place the LifeStyle unit (with fully charged battery) in the cart while being careful to maintain proper balance while securing the Velcro strap firmly around the unit. (See Figure 4.)
2. Connect the coiled power cord (which is threaded through the small opening at the back of the PowerPack bracket) to the PowerPack’s12 VDC output connection while easing the PowerPack (loaded with fully charged batteries) onto the bracket. (See Figure 5.)
Figure 4
3. Use the Velcro Strap to firmly secure the PowerPack onto the bracket of the cart. (See Figure 6.)
4. Connect the coiled power cord to the LifeStyle unit’s 12 VDC inlet. (See Figure 7.)
Figure 5
• Observe that the PowerPack begins immediately to provide power to the unit. If you are not ready to begin using the unit and PowerPack at this time, simply disconnect the coiled power cord from the LifeStyle unit until ready to use. (The coiled power cord can be gently tucked into the Velcro strap secured around LifeStyle so that it does not become lost or entangled.)

5. When batteries in the PowerPack are depleted (approximately 2 1/2 hours for three fully charged batteries in this unit), disconnect the coiled cord from the LifeStyle unit. (You are now running solely off the LifeStyle battery until recharging.) If you so desire, remove the LifeStyle unit from the cart/charger to carry the unit over your shoulder during this time.
• Use only the PowerPack’s AC adapter to recharge batteries in the PowerPack. Use the LifeStyle unit’s AC adapter or DC adapter to recharge the LifeStyle unit battery.
Cleaning Instructions
Clean the PowerPack unit’s plastic housing periodically by wiping it with a lint-free cloth or with a mild household cleaner applied with a damp cloth or sponge.
