Assembly Instructions
1. Preparing for installation.
A. Disconnect electrical power before installing or servicing
this fixture.
B. Remove channel cover (7) by removing thumbnuts (11) on
cover. Observe location of center hole for power supply and ground wires entry.
2. Fixture mounting.
A. Mount Junction Box mounting ring (1) to Junction Box with
machine screws (3) provided.
B. Position the fixture channel (10) and frame (23) assembly
onto the ceiling and mark all appropriate mounting hole locations. You may need someone to help you hold the fixture up. Bring the fixture down and punch a small hole in the ceiling at each marked location. Using a nail or stud finder, check to see if there is a wood joist to mount the fixture to. Where there is a wood joist, use a suitable wood screw (not included) to mount the fixture. Where there is no joist, a 3/16” toggle bolt (not included) must be used to mount the fixture channel securely to the ceiling.
C. Apply adhesive-backed foam tape (provided) into groove of all four top edges of frame to prevent light leaks caused by uneven ceiling surfaces.
3. Wiring.
Caution: Make sure power is off at fuse or circuit breaker box. Check power wires for damage or scrapes. If power supply wires are within
three inches of ballast, use wire suitable for at least 90 Consult a qualified electrician before installing.
A. This unit will not operate properly unless connected to a “grounded” electrical circuit. Electrical shock, overheating, low or no light output, and
shortened lamp life can result if proper grounding is not done. Feed the green (or green and yellow / bare) wire through knockout and securely attach to provided green ground screw.
B. Feed the white and black wires through center hole in channel. Using wire nuts (2) provided, connect white
supply wire to white ballast lead. Connect black hot supply wire to black ballast lead. Pull on each wire lead at connections to make sure connections are secure. Make certain no bare wires are exposed outside of wire nuts.
C. Install threaded diffuser studs (22) (provided) to ballast cover by inserting them through each hole and securing
to cover (7) with nuts (6) (provided) – note, see figure to the right. Replace ballast cover (7) by placing onto channel (10) and secure with thumbnuts (11). Make sure no wires become crimped between cover and channel.
