It is recommended that all wiring be performed by a qualified electrician. This fixture must be wired in accordance with all national and local electrical codes.
Do not handle any energized fixture or attempt to energize any fixture with wet hands or while standing on a wet or damp surface or in water.
Make sure that the power source conforms to the requirements of the fixture. (See labels on fixture).
Assembly Instructions
1. Preparing for installation.
A. Disconnect electrical power before installing or servicing any part of this fixture. B. Place one set of “#8-32 x 1-1/2” screws (9) to distance for canopy mounting with screws
facing down. Measure distance of canopy. Attach gem bar (10) to junction box (not provided) in position shown with “#8-32 x 1-1/2” screws (8) provided.
C. Feed cord through glass diffuser (1), cone (2) and decorative finial (3). (DO NOT tighten
decorative finial until you are ready for final installation)
2. Wiring
All wiring must take place inside junction box. Caution: Make sure power is
off at fuse or circuit breaker box. Check power wires for damage or scrapes. If power supply wires are within three inches of ballast use wire suitable for at least 90C (194F). Note: Most dwellings built before 1985 have supply wire rated to 60C. Consult a qualified electrician before installing.
A. Feed cord (4) through strain relief (7) and center hole in canopy (6). B. Connect the green ground pig-tail wire attached to the canopy (6) to the supply ground wire
and secure with a wire nut (11).
C. To modify cord length, unscrew strain relief (7) cover from canopy (6). Pull cord (4) through
canopy to desired length. Secure cord by re-attaching strain relief cover.
D. Determine desired cord (4) length for fixture. E. Once desired mounting length is determined, cut cord allowing for 6 inches of wire for
junction box wiring. Carefully remove outer insulation from cord without damaging lead wires. Strip lead wires back 3/8 inch for wire nut connections. WARNING: Inspect modified cord and wires for any damaged insulation.
F. Using wire connectors (11) provided, connect white (Common/Neutral) supply wire to one
clear fixture lead. Connect black (Hot/Incoming) supply wire to the other clear fixture lead. Pull on each wire lead to make sure connections are secure. Make certain no bare wires are exposed outside of wire connectors.
3. Mounting
A. Align canopy (6) over mounting studs (8) and fasten with thumbnuts (5). B. Tighten strain relief (7) to set desired length of cord (4).
4. Lamping/Re-lamping
A. Unscrew threaded decorative finial (3) and lift diffuser (1) and cone (2) to expose socket (13). B. Install 20-watt dimmable self-ballasted compact fluorescent spiral lamp (14) (provided) into socket (13) by inserting pins into holder
and twist until it snaps in place.
C. Carefully slide diffuser (1) and cone (2) over lamp assembly and tighten decorative finial (3).
5. Power to the fixture can now be restored.
