Safety Precautions
Read all safety precautions and installation instructions carefully before installing or servicing this fixture. Failure to comply with these instructions could result in potentially fatal electric shock and/or property damage.
It is recommended that a qualified electrician perform all wiring. This fixture must be wired in accordance with all national and local electrical codes.
Do not handle any energized fixture or attempt to energize any fixture with wet hands or while standing on a wet or damp surface or in water.
Assembly Instructions
1. Preparing for installation.
A. Disconnect electrical power before installing or servicing this fixture. B. Remove channel cover (2) by squeezing at each end in the fixture channel (1). Remove
appropriate knockout(s) for power supply entry. To remove knockouts it is recommended to use a blunt object facing away from you to punch out.
2. Channel mounting.
A. Position the fixture channel (1) onto the ceiling and mark all appropriate mounting
locations. You may need someone to help you hold the fixture up. Take the fixture channel (1) down and punch a small hole in the ceiling at each of the locations you have marked using a nail or stud finder to see if there is a wood joist above that you can mount the fixture to. Where there is a wood joist, use a suitable wood screw (not
included) to mount the fixture. Where there is no joist to screw into, a 3/16” toggle
bolt (not included) must be used to mount the fixture channel securely to the ceiling.
3. Wiring.
Caution: Make sure power is off at fuse or circuit breaker box. Check power wires for damage or scrapes.
If power supply wires are within three inches of ballast use wire suitable for at least 90C (194F). Note: Most dwellings built before 1985 have supply wire rated to 60C. Consult a qualified electrician before installing. This unit will not operate properly unless connected to a “grounded” electrical circuit. Electrical shock, overheating, low or no light output, and shortened lamp life can result if proper grounding is not done. Feed the green (or green and yellow) wire through knockout and securely attach to provided green ground screw.
A. Feed the white and black wires through knockout. Using wire nuts (not provided);
connect white supply wire to white ballast lead. Connect black hot supply wire to black ballast lead. Pull on each wire lead to make sure connections is secure. Make certain no bare wires are exposed outside of wire nuts.
B. Replace ballast cover (2) by placing one edge of ballast cover into dimples, swing upward,
and press cover allowing second edge to catch second set of dimples and lock in place. Make sure no wires become crimped between cover and fixture.
4. Lamping
A. Install appropriate lamps (F32T8 - not included) by aligning the lamp to the proper lamp
holder. Insert linear lamp pins into lamp holders and rotate into place to seat lamp for proper connection. Repeat until all lamps are installed.
5. Diffuser Assembly and Installation.
A. (Figure 2) Assemble the decorative brackets (5) onto the lower diffuser (4) with provided
screws (7) on both ends. Attach the decorative end plate (9) and end diffuser (8) to decorative bracket (5) with provided screws on both ends.
B. (Figure 3) Hook end with flange to fixture channel; (Figure 4) swing opposite end up and
mount decorative bracket (5) to fixture channel (1) with provided screw (10). Repeat to secure opposite end with flange to fixture channel (1).
C. Restore power at fuse or circuit breaker box.
This fixture is designed for use in a 110-120VAC, 60Hz fused circuit. Do not use on a dimming circuit.
To reduce the risk of electrical shock, and to assure proper operation, this fixture must be adequately grounded. To accomplish proper grounding, there must be a separate ground wire (green) or bare metal contact (metal conduit) between this fixture and the ground connection of your main power supply panel. The green ground screw location is clearly marked on the fixture housing.
This fixture is intended for general indoor lighting in dry or damp locations only.
