AEG offers its congratulations.
Dear customer,
Congratulations on purchasing your new AEG cooker.
It is important you get to know your cooker’s functions and special features. Read these instructions, as they will help you to get the best of your new cooker. Please particularly note the sections marked . These contain warnings to help you avoid accidents.
Save these instructions. They are handy to have by you in case of doubt, and should accompany the cooker if it is ever passed on to a new owner.
The instructions are structured so that you can use them as a look-up reference. The first part of the instructions contains a general description of your new product. There follows a short introduction on what to do before using your cooker for the first time. The section “How to use” explains ordinary operation of the cooker. The section “Cleaning and maintenance” tells you about both daily cleaning and also more thorough cleaning of the cooker’s individual parts. If any problems arise when using the cooker, you can look these up under the section “Before calling out Service”, which contains advice on remedying a number of practical and technical problems. At the end of the instructions, you will find the name and telephone number of your nearest Service Centre.
If you follow these instructions, your new cooker will make the daily round in the kitchen that bit easier, and making a celebratory meal will be far more enjoyable.
Happy cooking!
Yours sincerely

Safety information
The cooker is designed for normal Danish household use. If used in any other way there is a risk of accident.
Children
Keep children under supervision when the cooker is in use. Saucepans, cooking zones and oven get very hot in use and will remain hot for a period after switching off. Never let children touch or play with the controls or the oven door.
Check that the anti-tilt device and the saucepan guard (extra equipment) have been correctly installed, and make sure the child safety devices have been activated.
Use
Never use a cracked ceramic hob. Spillages or cleaning water could penetrate into voltage-bearing parts. Switch off the power to the cooker and contact Service. Never put aluminium foil, paper, plastic etc. on the ceramic hob. A hot cooking zone could cause them to burn or melt. Never leave the stove unattended while deep-frying food or melting fat, paraffin wax or any other easily flammable substance. In case of fire, switch off all controls and turn off any cooker hood.
Stifle the flames with a lid and never use water. Use only pots and pans designed for ceramic cooking zones. Check that bases are flat. Pans with an uneven base give poor heat contact and can easily rotate on the ceramic surface. Use only oven-proof dishes in the oven. Check that the cooker is switched off when not in use. All controls must point to zero.
Cleaning and maintenance
For hygiene and safety reasons, cooking zones and the oven must be kept clean. Particles of fat and food remnants will fume when heated and in the worst case could cause a fire. Make sure the electric cable is never caught when the cooker is moved for cleaning. Switch off the cooker at the main switch when replacing oven light bulbs.
5
Service
Service and repairs must be carried out by Electrolux Service force or by a servicing organisation approved by them. Only spare parts supplied by the above may be used.
Unpacking
The whole packaging can be recycled. Wooden packaging is made from untreated wood and plastic and corner reinforcements are marked with the method of disposal. Contact your Local Authority if unsure where to take the packaging. Remove the transport protection from the drawer before use.
Installation
Your cooker may only be installed by an authorised electrical installation engineer or a person authorised by the manufacturer. Work carried out by non-experts could lead to injury to persons and/or damage to property, as well as ruining the cooker. The cooker may not be placed on an extra plinth as this will deactivate the antitilt mechanism. Do mount the anti-tilt mechanism. Take care that the electric cable does not become caught during installation.
the electric cable from the wall socket, cut it off close to the cooker and deactivate the child safety mechanism.
Disposal

Ceramic hob
The ceramic hob has four cooking zones. When a cooking zone is switched on, its glow will turn on and off at different intervals, depending on the chosen heat setting. Even at the highest setting the cooking zone will switch off from time to time, to prevent the hob from overheating. The ceramic material is tough and hardened against heat, cold and temperature shocks, but like all
glass-based materials, it is to impact. Do not stand on the ceramic hob as it is unable to withstand abnormal strains.
sensitive
Cooking zones
The two rear cooking zones are single zones. The two front cooking zones are double zones.
CHEC control
Information on how to use CHEC is given in the section “How to use”. CHEC control is the name of the electronic control system governing the cooking zones. CHEC control gives you accurate heat adjustment, so you do not need to turn the heat up or down. CHEC provides the cooking zones with the following functions:
Automatic cut-out of “forgotten” cooking zones. QUICKSTART on all heat settings. Activation of the large zone on the double cooking zones Child safety mechanism for the cooking zones.
Residual heat indicator
When you turn off a cooking zone, an “H” will appear on the display to indicate that the zone is still hot. The residual heat indicator will stay lit until the cooking zone reaches around 80˚C.
Cooling fan
The cooker has a cooling fan to keep the temperature down on surfaces and electronics. When the cooker is in use, the thermostatactivated cooling fan switches on whenever the temperature rises above a certain point. The fan may therefore continue to operate after the cooker has been turned off.
9
Oven
Instructions on how to use the oven are given in the section: “How to use”. You can select from the following oven functions:
Fan oven Conventional oven Grill Combination oven Bottom heat Pizza/quiche programme Slow-cooker programme
The sides, ceiling and rear wall of the oven are coated in catalytic enamel, which is partly self-cleaning. The oven base is coated in smooth and easily-cleaned enamel.
The oven door has triple-glazed lowheat glass to ensure a lower external temperature. The oven door can be taken apart for cleaning.
Plinth
The plinth is adjustable to give working heights from 85 cm to 93.5 cm.
Pre-heating times for the oven are: Conventional oven: approx. 13 mins. to 200˚C Fan oven: approx. 7 mins. to 200˚C
Storage drawer
Information on how to use the storage drawer is given in the section: “How to use”.
10
Safety devices
The cooker has anti-tilt protection preventing it tipping over under abnormal load, e.g. if a child sits on top of the open oven door.
The anti-tilt protection must be mounted and only works when the cooker is pushed into position and the screw is fitted.
The oven door has child protection, making it more difficult for children to open the door. The cooking zones have child protection, with two knobs having to be turned simultaneously to operate the cooking zones. The oven functions can be locked when the oven is not in use.
The child safety devices only work when activated.

How to use
The ceramic hob
Never use a cracked ceramic hob. Spillages or cleaning water could penetrate into voltage-bearing parts. Cut off the power supply to the appliance and contact Service.
Stifle the flames with a lid
and never use water.
Never place wet pans on the ceramic hob. Make sure pans have no sand, sugar or salt adhering to them. Sand can scratch the surface and sugar and salt damage it.
Always dry pans before placing them on the ceramic hob.
The hob’s coloured decoration may become worn and scratched from use.
If you wish to use the hob to put things on, the ceramic hob must be cold. If one or more of the cooking zones is turned on while items are resting on the hob, there is a risk of fire or melting. A heated hob which is used for putting things on is a danger to the user and surroundings and may itself be ruined. Any objects placed on the hob must have a flat base/surface such that the hob is not abnormally loaded and does not become fractured or scratched.
In case of spillage, scrape it immediately off the hot hob with the razor. Spillages of sugar or sugar-containing foods (jams, syrup etc.) or melted plastic and aluminium foil could damage the hob.
18
The cooking zones
The operating knobs can be turned continuously from levels one to nine, nine being the highest setting. There is QUICKSTART on all levels, so you can turn the zone to the required heat setting from the start. See heat settings table. The 14 and 18 cm cooking zones are suitable for heating up and cooking-on small and medium-sized quantities. The 21 cm cooking zone is suitable for frying and for heating and cooking-on large quantities. The 12 cm cooking zone is not suitable for heating up, but is ideal for melting, keeping hot and preparing sauces etc. which must not be allowed to separate.

Instructions for turning on and off the child safety device are given in the section, “Before you start”. When the child safety device has been activated the display will show:
21
To switch on a cooking zone, you must now turn the two operating buttons to the left and hold them for two seconds. You must then turn on one of the cooking zones within ten seconds.
22
Choice of pans
A ceramic hob requires a more careful selection of cooking pans than traditional cookers with elements. Please note the following:
- Aluminium has good heat conductivity but may leave silver-coloured marks on the hob. The marks can be removed with the cleaning agent supplied with the cooker if this is rubbed in well with kitchen paper.
- Pots and pans of glass or with a coarsely patterned enamel base create more wear on the hob than other materials.
- Avoid pans with painted bases. Small flakes of paint may burn hard onto the hob.
Cooking pans used on the ceramic hob must:
- cover the whole cooking zone, and preferably be slightly larger.
- have a flat base or one curved slightly inwards (max. 1 mm), as the base will curve outwards when heated up.
- have a thick base:
- aluminium pans, min 3.5 mm thickness
- steel pans, min 5 mm thickness
- frying pans, min. 5-7 min thickness.
- have a totally smooth base, or one which has only a fine pattern.
23
Check the flatness of the base by placing the pan upside down on a work surface and holding a ruler over the base. A curved base, whether inwards or outwards, will lengthen cooking times and increase energy consumption. If the base diameter is too small, energy consumption will go up and any spilled food will burn hard onto the hot cooking zone. Cooking pans with very smooth or light-coloured bases will give slightly longer cooking times than pans with a matt or dark surface.
24
Advice and tips on using the cooking zones
Following the advice below can help you save energy and make cleaning easier.
Use 1 dl water on the 14 cm cooking zone. Use 2 dl water on the 18 cm cooking zone Use 3 dl water on the 21 cm cooking zone
Set the cooking zones to the correct temperature. Set the
cooking zone to maximum until the food comes up to heat and then turn down as far as possible without letting the food go off the boil. With thermostatically controlled zones, set the control to the lower temperature from the start. These cooking zones control their own heat output.
Use flat pans. An uneven pan can increase electricity consumption by 50%.
The pan must fit the cooking zone – or be slightly
larger. Remember you can use large pans for small portions.
Use tight-fitting lids. Without a lid the pan will use over three times as much electricity.
Cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid. Bring to the boil at the maximum level and then turn down to the lowest possible level when steam starts pouring out under the lid. Calculate cooking times from when you turn the heat down and only check the potatoes or vegetables when the cooking time is over.
Boil 1-8 eggs in ½ dl water. Put the eggs and water in the pan. Cover with a close-fitting lid. Turn up to the maximum level. Turn off the zone when steam starts pouring out under the lid. Calculate the boiling time from when you turn off the heat and let the eggs cook on in the zone’s residual heat. This method can be used on the 12 and 14 cm cooking zones.
Save water. Boil potatoes and vegetables in 1, 2 or 3 dl water.

34
The oven
Never put aluminium foil, a baking sheet or a roasting dish directly on the floor of the oven. The enamel could be damaged through overheating. The oven gets hot during use, so keep children under supervision.
Conventional oven
The oven has heating elements in the ceiling and floor which cook the food directly by radiated heat. Use only one shelf at a time for baking and roasting.
Fan oven
A fan behind the oven’s hot-air screen blows air out through air channels in the sides of the screen. The conventional oven elements plus a heating element surrounding the fan heat up the air which circulates round the oven before being drawn in through the grating in the centre of the screen.
35
When using the fan oven, two shelves can be used simultaneously. The shelves must be placed on rails 2 and 5 or 1 and 4. When using the fan oven, cooking temperatures should be reduced by 15-20% in comparison with a conventional oven.
Combination oven
The combination oven combines a fan oven and a grill. The fan circulates air round the oven while the grill element heats the air to the desired temperature and maintains it there. When cooking with the combination oven, temperatures should be 15-20% lower than with a conventional oven. Use only one shelf when using the combination oven.
Pizza/quiche programme
This programme is a combination of fan oven and base heat. The ring element and the base element provide the heat. The base heat ensures a crisp base for your pizza or quiche. The circulating hot air cooks the filling and gives it a golden colour. When baking puff pastry tarts it is unnecessary to pre-bake the tart base before adding the filling. The temperature is pre-set at 220˚C, but this can be altered by turning .
36
Best results are obtained by preheating the oven. The pre-heating time for 220˚C is approximately 15 min. Use the temperature and time indicated in the recipe. Place the food to be cooked on shelf 3.
Slow-roasting programme
This function is well-suited to roasting lean and red meat weighing up to 2500 g and uses the top and base elements. The oven heats up to 130˚C in order to close the meat’s pores, after which the temperature falls back automatically to 90˚C. The meat can then be left to roast at low temperature for a long period. This ensures a very tender end-product. The temperatures are pre-set and cannot be changed. With this programme you always start with a cold oven. For roasting smaller pieces of meat weighing up to 800 g, it is recommended that the meat is browned on the hob before roasting. Always use the electronic roasting thermometer for whole pieces of meat. It is difficult to give a precise roasting time for different cuts as this will depend on their shape. The slow-roasting cooking guide shows the approximate times.
Defrosting
The ring element and oven fan are used. This function ensures gentle thawing of frozen products. You can defrost on the grid or on several shelves at once if there is a great deal to be thawed up. It is impossible to give times, as these will vary with the quantity and type of food, but use a skewer for testing. Defrosting is pre-set to a temperature of 40˚C and this cannot be changed.
Baking and other cooking
Temperature differences and/or uneven distribution of food on baking sheets may cause distortion in the latter. This particularly applies to frozen pizza, chips etc.
Insert a skewer in soft cakes about 5 min. before the expected finish time, so you can shorten or lengthen the baking time as required. The result may be affected by the recipe or by the material, colour, shape and size of the cake tin.
If using light-coloured metal tins or china or glass moulds, place them on a baking sheet. When using darkcoloured metal tins, they must be placed on the grid.
37
In a conventional oven, the whole surface will develop a uniform colour. In a fan oven baking and cooking is more rational, but the colour will be more uneven. To achieve the best results arrange the food so as not to block air flow. For instance, rolls must be arranged in straight rows. Rectangular items such as baguettes, oblong cakes etc. must be arranged with their narrow ends towards the rear wall of the oven and the door. The fan oven is less suitable for baking items with a high sugar content which need a high temperature for a short period. So, for instance, biscuits will come out better in a conventional oven.
In a fan oven several dishes can be prepared simultaneously, e.g. first course, main course and dessert. You just need to make sure they are dishes which cook at the same temperature.
The combination oven is suitable for gratins and other dishes which need a golden surface, e.g. pommes dauphinoises, roast potatoes etc. The combination oven is not suitable for baking.

** Oven times for poached or baked fish depend on the thickness of the fish.
The thicker the fish, the longer the cooking time. Fish is ready when the flesh is
white and opaque. Test near the backbone with a fork. If the flesh falls away,
the fish is ready. These settings are for guidance only. See also section “Advice

Roasting
Max 5 dl vand
This oven is well insulated. That means that humidity in the oven will be relatively high and consequently no water should be added when roasting. If you want stock for making gravy, place the joint in a suitably sized oven-proof dish and add max. 5 dl water. No further water should be added during cooking. If you use too much water in the oven, condensation will form which may spill out onto the floor. You will also use excessive energy.
The conventional oven, fan oven, combination oven and slowroasting programme are suitable
for roasting. The combination oven is particularly suitable for items which need a crisp skin such as chicken, roast pork, leg of lamb etc. However, be aware that when using the fan oven or combination oven, the oven will need much more cleaning, due to the distribution of fat particles by the circulating air.
Max. 5 dl water
If you want to use a roasting bag, cut off one corner before placing it in the oven. In this way you will avoid burning yourself on hot steam when you open the bag.
41

thermometer
To achieve the best results, the tip of the roasting thermometer must be buried in the thickest part of the
oint. It must not rest in fat or against a bone, as this will give a false reading. The whole of the sensor pin must be inside the meat, as otherwise the heat from the oven will affect the thermometer. When the desired temperature is reached, take the joint out, cover it with aluminium foil and let it rest for about 20 min. The joint will then be easier to carve and less meat
uice will be wasted.
Remember that the plastic parts of the roasting thermometer must be at least 4 cm from the heating elements.

Browning
It is recommended that meat weighing 800 g or less is browned in margarine on
the hob. Whole pieces of meat should be browned for 4-5 mins. Slices of meat
should be browned for 1 - 1½ mins.
44
Grilling
For grilling the temperature should be 250˚C. If you wish to grill more gently you may choose a lower temperature.
Wipe the item to the grilled with kitchen paper as otherwise moist items will steam rather than grill. Allow the grill to warm up for five minutes before putting in the food. Arrange the food on the grid on the rail recommended on the settings table. Cover the roasting dish with aluminium foil and place below the grid to catch dripping fat etc., as this will make cleaning easier. The oven door must be closed during grilling. Keep a constant watch on the grilling process Grilling for too long will make the food dry and tasteless, and in the worst case, burnt. Turn the items at least once during grilling.

fat marbling, quantity and temperature of the food to be grilled. Fish and white meat (poultry, veal and pork) will not take as pronounced a colour as dark meat (beef and game). Grilling oil and grilling spices will give a better colour but increase the risk of burning the food. Better results are obtained if the food to be grilled is not taken directly from the refrigerator.

Advice and tips on using the oven
Use the following advice to save energy and make cleaning easier.
Put food in a cold oven and use residual heat. Food and baking with a cooking time of over 20 minutes can be put into a cold oven. Set the time and temperature as shown. Turn off the oven and let the food or baking remain in the oven for a further 15-20 mins.
Fill the shelf up. You can easily bake and roast at the same time if the dishes cook at the same temperature. They will not take on the flavour of the other items.
Don’t roast at too high a temperature. Meat contains about 70% water. To get the juiciest meat, slow-roast it. The roasting time will be slightly longer and you will use slightly more energy at the lower temperature, but the result will be better. At the same time your oven will be easier to clean because fat droplets will not burn on so hard.
No bain-marie. A bain- marie uses lots of energy. The food’s own moisture is enough to prevent it drying out.
Bake cakes in a low-sided mould rather than a high sided one. This will shorten cooking times and save energy.
47
Ventilation position
Each time you finish using your oven, put it in ventilation position. Otherwise there is a risk of humidity in the oven causing rust.
What to do:
1. Open the oven door and lift the two stop catches.
2. Close the oven door until the stop catches engage with the side of the oven.
Allow the oven door to remain open until the oven has cooled down.
The storage drawer
The storage drawer is designed for storage of oven equipment.
The storage drawer must not be used for storing food for lengthy periods, as moisture from the food could cause rust in and around the storage drawer.
48
Cleaning and maintenance of
The anti-tilt mechanism will only work when the cooker is pushed back into position and the screw has been mounted. Please remember this when moving the cooker to clean behind it. For hygienic and safety reasons the ceramic hob and oven must be kept clean. Fat droplets and food remnants will fume when heated up and in the worst case could cause a fire.
Steel surfaces
Carry out daily cleaning with a well wrung-out cloth. For more stubborn marks use a cloth or a soft plastic sponge and washing-up liquid or universal cleaner.
Never use scouring pads, wire wool, hard plastic sponges, scouring powder or other abrasive cleaning agents.
Over time steel surfaces will take on a flamelike appearance. You can restore their original appearance by rubbing them with a thin coating of food oil or by polishing them with “Original Steel Polish”. This product can be ordered from Electrolux Hvidvarer-Service, see Tel. no. at the back of these instructions.
The oven valve
Remove the valve and wash in hot water and washing-up liquid.
The ceramic hob
Scrape off spillages of sugar, sugarcontaining foods (jam, syrup etc.), melted plastic and aluminium foil immediately from the hot hob. If the hob is allowed to cool down it may suffer damage. A dirty hob will impair heat conduction between the cooking zones and the pans. After use, wipe down the cooking zones with a damp cloth and washing-up liquid. In the case of severe soiling, try the following:
1. Remove food etc. with the razor.
2. Ensure the hob has cooled down. Use the cleaning fluid supplied. Shake the bottle and squeeze a couple of thin lines of product onto the hob.
3. Wipe the hob clean with a damp cloth or kitchen paper. Remove stubborn stains by rubbing hard with kitchen paper.
4. Wipe off excess cleaning fluid with a damp cloth.
5. If necessary, wipe with a dry cloth.
Make sure the hob is dry before heating up again. A damp hob may take on rainbow-like stripes when heated up.
49
The oven
When cleaning the oven it is convenient to remove the door and shelf rails.
The sides, ceiling and rear wall of the oven are of catalytic enamel which is partly self-cleaning at temperatures over 200˚C. After cooking at low temperatures and or where the oven is covered with fat, the oven must be heatcleaned.
Keep children away from the cooker while the oven is being heat-cleaned, as the front of the cooker will get hotter than normal.
Spillages and fat droplets must always be removed before cleaning the oven.
What to do:
1. Remove stubborn stains as far as possible by scraping with a wooden kitchen tool.
2. Smear the sides and back of the oven with a strong solution of washing-up liquid and hot water. Use a sponge or brush and scrub well.
3. Let the oven stand for about 1 hour.
50
4. Set the oven to heat-clean. Switch on at . Turn the knob to . Select temperature 300˚C by turning knob .
5. Leave the oven at this setting for 1½ hours. The oven's AUTOSTOP function means the oven will automatically turn off after 1½ hours.
6. If you want the oven to self-clean for longer than 1½ hours you will need to program an automatic stop. See program instructions, "How to use - Automatic oven stop"
When cleaning is complete, there may be some carbonised powder on the floor of the oven. This is the remains of the dirt which has been burnt off. The easiest way to remove this is with a damp cloth.
1. Carefully loosen the dirt with a wooden scraper.
2. Smear the floor with soft soap, preferably in liquid form, using a sponge.
3. Close the oven door and switch on the oven at 100˚C for 10 minutes.
4. Wash the oven with clean water when cool. It may be necessary to carefully go over it again with a white scouring sponge. Wipe clean.
You may also use an oven cleaner. Follow the instructions on the product.
Do not use oven cleaner or sharp objects on the catalytic enamel.
The oven floor
The oven floor is made from easyto-clean smooth enamel. Wipe the floor after each use of the oven. Use a damp cloth, preferably with a few drops of washing-up liquid.
In case of heavy soiling, try the following:
51
The oven fan
The fan may get dirty from fat droplets from roasting. Check the fan every four months and clean if necessary.
Switch off at the main switch before cleaning the oven fan, as no current may be connected when cleaning the oven fan.
Remove the fan as follows:
1. Open the oven door.
2. Turn the spring lock (1) above until the screen comes free of the rear wall.
3. Lift the screen free of the two holders (2) below.
4. The nut holding the fan in place has a left-hand thread.
5. Keep a firm grip on the fan.
6. Unscrew the nut by turning it clockwise (to the right).
1
2
Clean the fan in hot water and washing-up liquid.
Remember to fix on the screen after finishing cleaning
52
The oven door
Clean the enamel with a clean cloth, hot water and washing-up liquid.
Removing the oven door
1. Set the door in ventilation position.
2. Pull it diagonally upwards towards you.
3. Place the door on a secure surface on a table.
Removing the door glass
Handle the glass panes carefully. The glass is hardened but will not withstand blows and impact or abrasive cleaners. Such treatment may cause the glass to shatter, either immediately or at a later time.
Inner pane
1. Turn the two brass screws with a coin until the straight edge of the screws moves clear of the glass.
2. Lift the glass out.
53
Middle pane
1. Hold the springs on either side of the glass
2. Lift the glass out.
Outer pane
1. Lay the oven door on a table.
2. Grasp the door frame and carefully press the glass out of the frame.
Cleaning the oven door panes.
Clean the panes with a wet cloth and washing-up liquid. Wipe dry. If desired, polish the panes with a window cleaner.
In case of severe soiling:
1. Lay a wet cloth with washing-up liquid on the pane for half an hour.
2. If necessary, use a razor to remove the softened dirt.
The razor must not be used on the side of the inner pane on which the settings table is printed.
After cleaning, remount the door glass and oven door in the reverse sequence.
The oven must not be used before all glass is correctly mounted.
54
Oven equipment
Removing the shelf rails
1. Pull the shelf rails out and up in the direction of the arrows.
2. Lift the shelf rails up.
Cleaning of shelf rails and grid
Wash the shelf rails and grid by hand or in a dish-washer. In the case of severe soiling, they may put to soak. If necessary use wire wool and rub well.
After cleaning mount the shelf rails in the oven by inserting them in the top holes first.
Cleaning of baking sheets and roasting dishes.
Wipe with kitchen paper after use. In the case of severe soiling, baking sheets and roasting dishes can be washed by hand or in a dishwasher.
55
Replacing the oven light bulb
Turn off the cooker at the main switch as no current may be connected when changing the light bulbs.
1. First remove the shelf rail. Prise out the lamp cover, e.g. by carefully inserting a screwdriver between the cover and the wall. (Protect the wall with an oven glove). Unscrew the bulb.
2. Unscrew the lamp cover and bulb in the direction of the arrow.
Use only original bulbs.
Cleaning the lamp cover
1. Soak the lamp covers in hot water and washing-up liquid.
2. Scrub them clean and wipe dry.
1. 2.
The lamp covers must be completely dry before screwing back in.
Cleaning the sealing strip
The sealing strip between the oven and oven door is attached at the four corners. Remove the sealing strip by lifting the hooks out of the holes in the corners. Clean the sealing strip by pulling a wet cloth splashed with washing-up liquid over the strip. Wipe dry.
56
The sealing strip must be dry before being reinstalled. Reinstall the strip by inserting the hooks in the holes and straightening the strip so that it lies parallel to the oven sides. The joint in the strip must be at the bottom.

Problems
Bread, rolls and soft cakes do not
rise...............................................
Bread, rolls and soft cakes are too
dry..........................................
Remedy
Temperature too low. The baking rises and then collapses again. Use a higher temperature.
You have used too little yeast or baking powder. Check your recipe to see whether you have used enough.
The fat/liquid mixture was too warm. The temperature must be 37˚C for fresh yeast and 45-50˚c for dried yeast.
Temperature too low. The baking needed too long in the oven before it was ready. Use a higher temperature.
Too little liquid, too much flour or the wrong type of flour can result in dry bread. Remember not to add all the flour at once, as the quantity of flour required can vary from time to time.
Baking/food turns out too dark or
unevenly baked.............................
Wrong positioning in the oven when using the fan oven means that the air cannot circulate properly. Arrange rolls etc. in straight rows. Place rectangular items such as baguettes, oblong cakes etc. with their narrow ends towards the rear wall and the oven door.
62
Problems
Remedy
Baking/food turns out too dark or
unevenly baked.............................
Baking/food does not brown
sufficiently.....................................
Wrong temperature. When cooking in the fan oven, temperatures should be reduced by 15-20% in comparison with a conventional oven. Note that a change of 5˚C can greatly affect the result.
When the fan oven is in use, the result will generally be more uneven than in a conventional oven.
Temperature too low. The baking/food is ready before it has browned. Use a higher temperature.
Position in oven too low. The baking/food has received too little top heat. Move the baking/food up one rail.
You have placed a light-coloured tin or a china/glass dish on the grid. Use a baking sheet when using lightcoloured tins or a china/glass dishes.
The catalytic enamel cannot be
cleaned...........................................
The ceramic hob is stained............
The pores in the enamel are plugged by burnt-on fat. See section “Cleaning and maintenance of” for how to remove the burnt-on fat.
Carefully clean the hob as explained in the section “Cleaning and maintenance of”

Before calling service – Technical advice
Problems
The cooker/oven does not work
The oven does not heat up quickly
enough
The hob gets hot.
The fuses are constantly blowing.
Remedy
Check that the cooker is switched on. Check the cooker’s fuses. (NB There are three fuses).
A conventional oven will heat up to 200˚C in approx. 13 mins. A fan oven will heat up to 200˚C in approx. 7 mins.
Hob heat will reach 80˚C. However, it may become hotter if you use pans which do not have a flat base or which are too small to cover the cooking zones.
Maybe too many electrical appliances are being used at the same time. If the cooker is connected to a 10 amp fuse group, there is a high risk of overload.
The cooking zones do not get hot
enough
The pan must be the right size for the cooking zone. Check that the pan has a flat bottom, e.g. by holding it against the edge of a worktop. Boil a litre of water in a lidded pan, with the cooking zone set to maximum. On a 12 cm cooking zone the boiling time is about 25 mins. On a 14 cm cooking zone the boiling time is about 13 mins. On a 18 cm cooking zone the boiling time is about 10 mins On a 21 cm cooking zone the boiling time is about 8 mins
