1 Safety instructions
Your safety is of paramount importance, please ensure you read these warnings before installing or using the appliance. If you are unsure about any of the meanings of these warnings, contact the Customer Care Department.
General safety
Repairs to the washing machine should only be carried out by qualified personnel. Repairs carried out by inexperienced persons may cause injury or serious malfunctioning. Contact your local AEG Service Force Center.
Never operate the washing machine if the mains cable is damaged or the control panel, work top or base area are damaged allowing internal components to be accessible.
Switch off the appliance and isolate from the mains supply before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance work!
Do not use the mains cable to pull the plug out of the socket.
Do not spray the washing machine with water.
During high temperature wash programs, the glass of the door may
become hot. Do not touch!
Allow the water to cool down before cleaning the drain pump, carrying out emergency emptying or opening the door in an emergency.
Small animals can nibble at mains cables and water hoses causing electric shock hazard.
Installation
This appliance must be connected to the cold water supply only.
Please follow the separate Installation and connection instructions
supplied with the appliance.
Installation must comply with local water authority and building regulations requirements.
Before using the appliance for the first time, we recommend you run a cotton wash cycle at 95 °C without any laundry and half the recommended amount of detergent. This is to remove any residues from the drum, which may have been left during manufacture.

Safety instructions
Child Safety
This appliance is designed to be operated by adults. Children should not be allowed to tamper with the controls or play with the appliance.
Pets and children have been known to climb into washing machines. Please check the drum before use.
Keep all packaging well away from children.
Keep all detergents in a safe place out of childrens reach.
When disposing of the appliance, cut off the mains cable, and destroy
the plug. Disable the door catch to prevent young children being trapped inside.
During Use
Always unplug the appliance and turn off the water supply after use.
Only use the washing machine to wash normal domestic washing. If
the washing machine is used for any other purpose or is incorrectly used, the manufacturer adopts no liability for any damages which may result.
It is dangerous to alter the specifications or attempt to modify this product in any way.
Only use detergents which are suitable for automatic washing machines, and follow the recommendations of the detergent manufacturer.
Garments which have been in contact with flammable solvents should not be washed.
Do not use your washing machine for dry cleaning.
Dyes and bleaching agents may only be used if specifically permitted
by the manufacturer of these products. We cannot be held liable for any damages.

2 Disposal
Packaging
Dispose of the packaging material correctly. All packaging materials are environmentally friendly and can be disposed of without any danger to the environment.
The external plastic covering and bags inside are made of polyethylene (marking >PE<).
The padding is made of CFC free expanded polystyrene (marking >PS<).
Washing machine
When disposing of the washing machine:
Cut off the mains cable and destroy the plug
Disable the door catch to prevent young children
becoming trapped inside.
Use an authorised disposal site.
2 Environmental tips
To save water, energy and to help protect the environment, we recommend that you follow these tips:
Do not use a prewash for normally soiled washing.
It is more economical to wash full loads.
When washing small loads reduce the detergent by half to two thirds.
Pre-treat stains, and then wash at a lower temperature.
Use the energy saving program when washing light to normally soiled
garments.

Maximum Spin speed 1200 revolutions per minute, speed for the
final spin automatically adapted depending on the washing program:
COTTONS/LINEN 1200 revolutions per minuteEASY CARES 1000 revolutions per minuteDELICATES 1000 revolutions per minuteWOOLLENS 1000 revolutions per minute
Speed for the final spin can be changed to 1000, 800, 600 or 400
revolutions per minute.
Rinse hold can be added: the washing remains in the final rinse water, it is not spun.
Delay timer: program start can be delayed by 1 to max. 19 hours (e.g. to times with a more economical power rate).
Multi-display to showestimated program duration or time left until the end of the
program,
delay timer (start time delay or time left to start of program),error code.
• Program progress display
Automatic load adaptation with fuzzy logic: sensor controlled washing process with variable number of rinse cycles, water quantity dependent on foam and load, controlled spin etc, thus best washing and rinsing results with the lowest automatically adapted water consumption.
4-chamber detergent compartment for washing powder and fabric softener: temporary delayed addition of softener, washing powder and stain removing agent enables environmentally friendly washing and improves the effectiveness of the detergents.
ÖKO lock: The Öko lock ensures 100% effective detergent usage. The Öko valve closes off the wash tub from the drainage system during all
wash programmes.
Scoop ribs in the washing machine drum: ensure washing is wet fast and equally.
Anti-unbalance control system: for stability and smooth running.

What does "update" mean?
The control system of your machine is fully electronic. The software which determines this control system can be reprogrammed. If a state of the art in washing technology is reached, your machine can be updated.
The cost of the update will be advised at the time of the request. For further information regarding this please contact the AEG Customer Care Department.

The program selector determines the type of the washing cycle (e.g. water level, drum movement, number of rinses, spin speed) in accordance with the type of washing, as well as the wash temperature of the water. The different setting positions have the following effect:
OFF
Switches the washing machine off, in all other positions it is on.
COTTONS/LINEN
Main wash for cottons/linen (washing at 30-95 °C rinsing/fabric softening, spinning).
Position ENERGY SAVING: Energy saving of the program at approx.
2
67 °C for lightly to normal soilage, extended washing time (cannot be combined with QUICK WASH and STAIN).

Description of the appliance
EASY CARES
Main wash for easy care fabrics (washing at 30-60 °C rinsing/fabric softening, spinning).
DELICATES
Main wash for delicates (washing at 30-40 °C, rinsing/fabric softening, spinning, higher water level and reduced drum movement).
WOOLLENS
Main wash for machine washable woollens and delicate fabrics (wash cold up to 40 °C, rinsing/fabric softening, spinning, higher water level and considerably reduced drum movement).
GENTLE RINSE
Separate gentle rinse, e.g. for rinsing fabrics washed by hand (2 rinses and spin).
STARCHING
1 Rinse with fabric softener or a starching agent. Additives from the w compartment is added.
PUMP OUT
Pumping out the water after a rinse hold (without any spinning at all).
SPIN
Pumping out the water after a rinse hold and spinning, or separate spinning of hand washed cottons/ linen.

SHORT SPIN
Pumping out the water after a rinse hold and short spinning, or separate short spin of handwashed, delicate fabrics (easy care washing, delicates, woollens).
Description of the appliance
Program Option buttons
The program option buttons are used to adjust the washing program to the degree of soiling of the washing. Depending on the program different functions can be combined.
PRE WASH
Cold prewash before the main wash which follows automatically (not selectable for the WOOLLENS setting).
SOAKING
Soak before the main wash which follows automatically (1 hour at 40 °C, extendable to max. 19 hours using the DELAY TIMER button, not selectable for WOOLLENS program).
QUICK WASH
Shortened main wash for lightly soiled washing.
STAIN
To treat heavily soiled washing or stained washing with stain remover (extended main wash with stain action phase, not selectable for WOOLLENS program).
Final spin speed/RINSE HOLD button
With this button you can reduce the maximum speed for the final spin. If RINSE HOLD is selected the washing stays in the final rinse water, it is not spun.
START/PAUSE button
This starts the washing program and enables interruption of a washing program.
DELAY TIMER button
With this button you can delay the start of a washing program by 1 to 19 hours (max).
When the SOAKING button is pushed the washing program starts immediately, the soak can be extended by setting the delay timer, the main wash follows automatically.

Display DOOR
This lamp indicates when the door can be opened if the machine is on:
Green light = door can be openedLight off = door cannot be openedRed light = door is open
Multi-display
The multi-display – shows the running time of the selected
program or the remaining wash time in minutes (at the same time the display lamp WASH TIME lights up); or
– shows the delay time or the remaining
time in hours until the start of the washing program; or
– shows an error code (( and a number).
Program progress display
Before the start of the program, this shows the program steps selected. During the washing program, the display of the current washing program step lights up.

OVERDOSING display
This shows that in the washing program which has just run, too much washing powder was used and due to this reason an extra rinse was carried out.
