DESCRIPTION OF THE APPLIANCE
USE
Cleaning the interior
Before using the appliance for the first time, wash the interior and all internal accessories with lukewarm water and some neutral soap so as to remove the typical smell of a brand-new product, then dry thoroughly. Do not use detergents or abrasive powders, as these will damage the finish.
Operation
Insert the plug into the wall socket. Open the refrigerator door and turn the thermostat knob, clockwise, beyond the «O» (STOP) position. The appliance will start to operate.
Temperature regulation
The temperature is automatically regulated and can be increased to achieve a higher temperature (warmer) by rotating the thermostat knob toward lower settings or reduced (colder) rotating the knob towards higher settings.
However, the exact setting should be chosen keeping in mind that the temperature inside the refrigerator depends on:
room temperature; how often the door is opened; the quantity of food stored; location of appliance. A medium setting is generally the most suitable.
To stop operation, simply turn the thermostat knob to position «O».

Storing chilled foods
The refrigerator compartment is suitable for chilling food and drinks.
For best results, it is important to follow the rules below:
do not put hot food or evaporating liquids in the refrigerator; cover or wrap all foods (especially spicy or strong-smelling foods); do not cover the shelves with paper, card or protective plastic sheeting which would prevent air from circulating through the grilles.
We also recommend the following: cooked foods, cold dishes, jelly, etc.: should be well
covered and may be placed on any shelf in the refrigerator;
fruit and vegetables: should be washed and then placed in the salad box at the bottom of the refrigerator;
butter and cheese: should be placed in suitable containers or wrapped in aluminium foil or plastic film to avoid drying out;
milk in bottles: should be well capped and placed in the door compartment;
raw meat (all types): should be wrapped in plastic bags and placed in the special meat box or on the top shelf immediately below the evaporator.
Bananas, potatoes, onions and garlic should not be placed in the refrigerator unless pre-packed.
Movable shelves
The walls of the refrigerator are equipped with a series of runners so that the shelves can be positioned as desired.
Positioning the door shelf
To permit storage of food packages of various sizes, central the door shelf can be adjusted in height.
To make these adjustments proceed as follows: Gradually pull the shelf in the direction of the arrows
until it comes off, then reposition as required.

Defrosting
During normal operation, the evaporator in the refrigerator compartment will gradually become covered with frost. This frost is a thermal insulator which inhibits cooling and must therefore be removed, otherwise there will be a significant reduction in cooling efficiency and an increase in electricity consumption.
To defrost, proceed as follows:
1. Turn the thermostat knob on position “O”, making sure that the stopper of the water collector tray is firmly inserted in the water drain hole;
2. Once defrosted, turn the thermostat knob on a medium position to restart the appliance.The water which has collected in the tray placed under the evaporator must be removed.
3. Place a container on the first shelf in the refrigerator
directly under the water drain hole of the defrost tray and remove the stopper as shown in the figure.
4. Dry thoroughly the ice-compartment and replace the
stopper.
Unplug the appliance before carrying out any maintenance operation.
Periodical cleaning
Wash the interior of the appliance with lukewarm water and sodium bicarbonate. Clean cabinet outer surfaces with a silicone-wax spray. The condenser and compressor should be cleaned using a brush or a vacuum cleaner. This latter operation will maintain the appliance’s excellent standards of performance and save energy.
Periods of non-use
If you are not using the appliance for any length of time, the following precautions should be taken:
unplug the appliance; take all food out; defrost and clean the inside and all the accessories; leave the door ajar so that air can circulate inside in
order to prevent unpleasant smells forming.
The light bulb
The opening on the diffuser gives access to the light bulb. If the light does not come on when the door is opened, check that the bulb is screwed in properly; replace the bulb if the fault persists. The rating is shown on the light bulb cover.
