SAFETY INFORMATION
Before the installation and use of the ap­pliance, carefully read the supplied in­structions. The manufacturer is not re­sponsible if an incorrect installation and use causes injuries and damages. Always keep the instructions with the appliance for future reference.
1.1 Children and vulnerable people safety
WARNING!
Risk of suffocation, injury or per­manent disability.
• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and per­sons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction for the opera­tion of the appliance by a person who is responsible for their safety.
• Do not let children play with the appli­ance.
• Keep all packaging away from children.
• Keep children and pets away from the appliance when it operates or when it cools down. Accessible parts are hot.
• If the appliance has a child safety de­vice, we recommend that you activate it.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without super­vision.
1.2 Installation
WARNING!
Only a qualified person must in­stall this appliance.
• Remove all the packaging.
• Do not install or use a damaged appli­ance.
• Obey the installation instruction sup­plied with the appliance.
• Keep the minimum distance from the other appliances and units.
• Always be careful when you move the appliance because it is heavy. Always wear safety gloves.
• Seal the cut surfaces with a sealant to prevent moisture to cause swelling.
• Protect the bottom of the appliance from steam and moisture.
• Do not install the appliance adjacent to a door or under a window. This pre­vents hot cookware to fall from the ap­pliance when the door or the window is opened.
• If the appliance is installed above draw­ers make sure that the space, between the bottom of the appliance and the up­per drawer, is sufficient for air circula­tion.
• The bottom of the appliance can get hot. We recommend to install a non­combustile separation panel under the appliance to prevent access to the bot­tom.
Electrical connection
WARNING!
Risk of fire and electrical shock.
• All electrical connections must be made by a qualified electrician.
• Before every wiring make sure the main terminal of the appliance is not live.
• Make sure the appliance is installed correctly. Loose and incorrect plug and socket can make the terminal become too hot.
• Make sure that a shock protection is in­stalled.
• Do not let the electricity bonds touch the appliance or hot cookware, when you connect the appliance to the near sockets.
• Do not let the electricity bonds tangle.
• Use a strain relief clamp on cable.
• Use the correct mains cable.
• Make sure not to cause damage to the mains plug and to the mains cable. Contact the Service or an electrician to change a damaged mains cable.

1.4 Care and Cleaning

• Do not use water spray and steam to clean the appliance.
• Clean the appliance with a moist soft cloth. Only use neutral detergents. Do not use abrasive products, abrasive cleaning pads, solvents or metal ob­jects.
1.5 Disposal

• Contact your municipal authority for in­formation on how to discard the appli­ance correctly.
• Disconnect the appliance from the mains supply.
• Cut off the mains cable and discard it.

To switch on and increase the heat set­ting turn the knob counterclockwise. To decrease the heat setting turn the knob clockwise. To switch off turn the knob to the 0. Power indicator is activated when either of the zones are turned on, and will stay on until the cooking zones are switched off.
3.1 Before first use
Put cookware containing water on each cooking zone, set the maximum position and operate the appliance for 10 min. This is to burn off the residue in the appli­ance. After that, operate the appliance at

minimum position for 20 min. During this period, an odour and smoke can occur. This is normal. Make sure that the airflow is sufficient. After this operation, clean the appliance with a soft cloth soaked in warm water.
3.2 Rapid hot plate
A red dot in the middle of the plate shows a rapid hot plate. A rapid hot plate heats up faster than usual plates. The red dot is painted on the surface and can come off after some time. It does not have an effect on the performance of the appliance. The rapid hot plate can smoke and make an odour when you use it for the first time. The smoke and an odour will go off after a while.

4. HELPFUL HINTS AND TIPS

4.1 Cookware
• The bottom of the cookware must be as thick and flat as possible.
WARNING!
Pots must not enter the control zone.
4.2 Energy saving
• If possible, always put the lids on the cookware.
• Put cookware on a solid hot­plate before you start it.
• Stop the solid hotplate before the end of the cooking time to use residual heat.
• For satisfactory results, the bot­tom of pans must have the same dimensions (or slightly larger) as solid hotplates. Do not use smaller pans.
4.3 Examples of cooking applications

Information on acrylamides
Important! According to the newest
scientific knowledge, if you brown food (specially the one which contains starch), acrylamides can pose a health risk. Thus, we recommend that you cook at the lowest temperatures and do not brown food too much.
5. CARE AND CLEANING
WARNING!
Refer to "Safety information" chapter.
Clean the appliance after each use. Always use cookware with clean bottom.
WARNING!
Before any maintenance or clean­ing can be carried out, you must disconnect the hob from the elec­tricity supply.
The hob is best cleaned while it is still warm, as spillage can be re­moved more easily than if it is left to cool.
WARNING!
Sharp objects and abrasive clean­ing agents will damage the appli­ance. For your safety, do not clean the appliance with steam blasters or high-pressure cleaners.
The stainless steel can become tarnished if it is too much heated. Refer to this you must not cook with potstones, earthen­ware pans or cast iron plates. Do not use aluminium foil to prevent damage the top during operation. Stainless steel parts wash with water, and then dry with a soft cloth.
Scratches or dark stains have no effect on how the appliance oper­ates.
Removing the dirt:

Use the fine scouring powder or a scouring pad to remove the dirt.

Clean the appliance with a damp cloth and some detergent.
3.
Heat the hotplate to a low tempera­ture and leave to dry.

To maintain the hotplates, rub in a lit­tle sewing machine oil now and again
6. TROUBLESHOOTING

The appliance does not operate.
The cooking zone does not heat up.
The effectiveness of the hob is not satisfactory.
If there is a fault, first try to find a solution to the problem yourself. If you cannot find a solution to the problem yourself, speak your dealer or the local Service Force Centre.
If you operated the appliance in­correctly, or the installation was not carried out by a registered en­gineer, the visit from the customer service technician or dealer may not take place free of charge, even during the warranty period.

The stainless steel edge of the plate can be slightly discoloured as a result of the thermal load.

7. INSTALLATION
WARNING!

7.1 Important safety requirements
Install the hob accordingly to the IEE Wir­ing Regulations (Current Edition). For appliances installed in the Republic of Ireland please refer to the ETCI Rules for Electrical Installations. Detailed recommendations are contained in the British Standards Codes Of Prac­tice: B.S. 6172/ B.S. 5440, Par. 2 and B.S. 6891 Current Editions.

The minimum distance of 100 mm must be left between the side edges of the cut out and adjacent cabinets or walls. The minimum distance (in line) between the edges of the hob and flammable ma­terials above the hob is 400 mm. If the distance is smaller, separate the flamma­ble materials from the edges of the hob by a minimum of 50 mm Do not fit a cooker hood or combustible material lower than 650 mm above the hob. For appliances installed in the Republic of Ireland please refer to NSAI- Domestic Gas Installation I.S 813 Current Edition Section 7- Permitted Locations of Appli­ance.
Location
The appliance is of the type X and it has to be assembled in or adjacent to furni­ture according to the regulations in force (I.E.C. 335.2.6). Make sure that there is a minimum dis­tance of 55 mm between the rear cut out edge and the wall.
7.2 Installation
WARNING!
Read and follow the instructions carefully. There is a risk of injury or damage to the appliance.
• Make sure that the appliance is not damaged because of transportation.
Do not connect a damaged appliance. If it is necessary, speak to the supplier.
Installation and connection of the
appliance to the power supply must only be done by qualified personnel.
• Only use built-in appliances after you assemble the appliance into correct built-in units and work surfaces that obey the standards.
• Do not change the specifications or modify this product. There is a risk of injury or damage to the appliance.
• Fully obey the laws, ordinances, direc­tives and standards in force in the country where you use the appliance (safety regulations, recycling regula­tions, electrical safety rules etc.).
• Keep the minimum distances to other appliances and units.
• Install anti-shock protection, for exam­ple install the drawers only with a pro­tective panel directly below the appli­ance.
• If the fixing bracket is near to the termi­nal block, always make sure the con­nection cable does not come in contact with the edge of the bracket.
• Prevent damage of the cut surfaces of the worktop against moisture with a correct sealant!
• Seal the appliance to the worktop with no space left with a correct sealant.
• Prevent damage of the bottom of the appliance from steam and moisture, e.g. from a dishwasher or oven.
• Do not install the appliance adjacent to doors and below windows. Hot cook­ware can be hit off the hob when you open doors or windows.

electrical supply, before you do maintenance work or cleaning.

• Make the electrical mains terminal free of voltage.
• Install correctly to give anti-shock pro­tection.

• Loose and incorrect mains plug and socket connections can make the ter­minal become too hot.
• A qualified electrician must install the clamping connections correctly.
• Use a strain relief clamp on cable.
• Use the correct mains connection cable and replace the damaged mains cable with the proper cable type. Speak to your local Service Centre.
The appliance must have the electrical in­stallation which lets you disconnect the appliance from the mains at all poles with a contact opening width of minimum 3 mm. You must have correct isolation devi­ces: line protecting cut-outs, fuses (screw type fuses removed from the holder), ground leakage trips and contactors.
The manufacturer is not responsible for any injury to persons and pets or damage to property caused by failure to obey these requirements.
7.3 Electrical connection
• Do not pull the mains cable to discon­nect the appliance. Always pull the mains plug.
• The appliance must not be connected with an extension cable, an adapter or a multiple socket. There is a risk of fire.
• Do not let the power cable to heat up to a temperature of more than 90° C. The cable is guided by means of clamps fixed to the side of the cabinet, in order to avoid any contact with the equipment beneath the cooktop. Se­cure the cable by means of the clamp screws and refit the terminal block cov­er.
Electrical Requirements
Permanent electrical installation must agree with the latest I.E.E. Regulations and local Electricity Board regulations. For your own safety the installation must be done by a qualified electrician (e.g. your local Electricity Board, or a contractor who is on the roll of the National Inspec­tion Council for Electrical Installation Con­tracting [NICEIC]).
The manufacturer refuses to be held responsible, if these safety measures are not abided by.

Supply connections:
This hob has to be connected to 230 — 240 V ( 50 Hz) electricity supply.
The hob has a terminal block which is marked as follows:
L — Live terminal
N — Neutral terminal

You must purchase and install the plug. Use only a connection cable of type H05V2V2-F T90 or its equivalent. Make sure that the cable section is applicable to the voltage and the working temperature. In any case the power cable must be positioned in such a way that no part of it reaches a temperature of 50° C higher than the ambient temperature. The wires in the cord are coloured as fol­lows:
Green and yellow - Earth
Blue - Neutral

The limiter valve and the electrical system can take the appliance load (see the rating plate)
The supply system is equipped with an efficient earth connection in com­pliance with the current standards and regulations
The outlet or omnipolar switch used for connection is easily accessible with the appliance installed.
Remove the mains terminal cover plate from the bottom side of the hob to uncover the mains terminal block.
Loosen the two cable clamp screws and lift the top side of the clamp so the cable can go through it.
Connect the green and yellow (earth) wire to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the number 5 or the
letter 'E', or the earth symbol
, or coloured green and yellow. (see Fig­ure 1)
Connect the blue (neutral) wire to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the number 4 or the letter 'N' or coloured black. (see Figure 1)
Connect the brown (live) wire to the terminal in the plug which is marked
with the number 1, the letter 'L' or coloured red. It must always be con­nected to the network phase. (see Figure 1)

There must be no cut or stray strands of wire present. The cord clamp must be correctly attached to the outer sheath.
The yellow / green earth wire (B) must be approximately 2 cm lon­ger than the brown (or blue) phase wire (A).

WARNING!
Make sure to get rid of the cut off plug safely. A cut off plug put into a 13 amp socket is a safety risk. There is a risk of electrical shock.
According to the current regula­tions only a qualified electrician or competent person can replace the mains cable.
7.4 Connection cable
Use only connection cable of type H05V2V2-F T90 or equivalent type. Make sure that the cable section is applicable to the voltage and the working temperature. The yellow/green earth wire must be ap­proximately 2 cm longer than the brown (or black) phase wire.

The hob recess dimensions must obey the indication and the kitchen unit must be equipped with vents to let a continu­ous supply of air. The electrical connec­tion of the hob and the oven must be in­stalled separately for safety reasons and to let easy remove oven from the unit.
