The hood is not designed for commercial use, but only for normal culinary use in individual domestic settings. It complies fully with international safety regulations and with international quality standards. All possible precau­tions do not however prevent all risk of accidents.
It is therefore vital that you read the instructions, advice and safety tips provided herein before installing and using this hood. Pay special attention to the passages marked with a warning triangle, to avoid all personal and material damage. Keep this user manual in a safe place for future reference or in the event of sale or transfer to another owner.
Hood use
Do not leave flammable products under the
hood, such as oil and frying fat, paraffin oil, etc. In the event of fire, turn both the cooker and the hood off immediately. Attention! Cover the fire. Never attempt to extinguish it by pouring water over it.
Do not flambé food beneath the hood. This
could start a fire. Keep in mind that fats heated to high temperatures could spontaneously ignite. Never leave a hot frying pan under the hood if you have to leave the kitchen.
The filter must be cleaned regularly in order
to prevent any fat from dropping back down onto hot burners or hotplates, which could start a fire. Also read the chapter entitled "Care and cleaning" in this manual.
Scrapping
When scrapping the hood, take all the
necessary steps set forth by the law to prevent all future accidents. Unplug the plug on the power supply cable from the wall socket and cut the cable near the appliance air inlet. Contact your local authorities for details on scrapping your hood.
Installation and appliance care
All electrical installation operations must be
carried out by a qualified electrician and the hood itself must be installed by a skilled professional. A hood that has been installed by an unqualified person may lead to malfunctioning, and even personal or material damage.
The hood must be installed at a minimum of
40 cm above an electric hob or cooker and at least 65 cm above gas burners or a gas cooker.
During installation, make sure the electrical
power supply cable is left completely free and in perfect condition.
The electrical power supply to the hob is only
cut off when the power supply cable is unplugged or the fuse is disconnected.
The laws and regulations applicable to the
method used for the vented air outlet must be observed. For example, the exhaust air must not be vented towards ducts used for combustion flue gases, powered by a type of energy other than electricity, such as fuel-oil boilers and wood-fired stoves.

Operation
The hood can operate in two ways:
By venting the air outside, using the flue kit
and flue duct.
By re-circulating the air, using a charcoal
filter (filter sold separately).
The hood must not be connected to a flue duct used for the flue gases originating from appliances that do not run on electricity.
Use the charcoal filter. The charcoal filter purifies the air that circulates throughout the hood; this hot air is then re-introduced into the appliance in order to avoid all energy wastage. It is preferable to use the re-circulation mode in winter and the vented mode in summer.

Hood Use
Turning off the hood
Press the fan switch for at least 3 seconds. The fan motor is consequently turned off but the light continues to operate normally. To turn on the hood, push the visor first slightly inwards and then pull it out completely.
Correct ventilation
For the hood to operate correctly, do not open any windows in your kitchen; on the other hand, you should open a window in the next room.
Important recommendation
If the hood operates at the same time as a burner or open fire (gas, fuel-oil or wood-fired heating, water heater, etc.), take special care because the hood may intake the air necessary for the combus­tion of said systems.
Do not set the fan at a higher speed than necessary. Low speeds are sufficient for cooking under normal conditions. Only use high speeds to evacuate strong odours (such as those generated by burnt food, etc.).
Speed control
The extractor fan speed can be adjusted using the pull-out glass visor (see figure).

Pushbutton A (Timer)
When the glass visor is in position (A), the light turns on. When the adjuster reaches position (B), the hood motor starts at low speed, then the speed increases gradually as the panel is pulled out.
To set the intensive speed, then push the push button A (see figure), the intensive speed lasts for 5 minutes.
For best results, low speeds are recommended under normal operating conditions, and higher speed settings when the concentration of fumes and steam are highest.
Turn the hood on a few minutes before you begin cooking, in order to create a partial vacuum in the kitchen. Once you have finished cooking, leave the hood on for another 15 minutes, or until all steam and fumes have disappeared.
Care and Cleaning
Before performing any hood care operations, turn off the electricity supply by unplugging the power supply cable from the wall socket or by removing the fuse.
Hood cleaning
Clean the exterior of the hood using a soft cloth moistened with a neutral detergent. Never use corrosive, abrasive or inflammable cleaning prod­ucts.

Cleaning the stainless steel surfaces
For an improved cleaning action on the stainless steel surfaces of the hood, use a soft cloth and Original Steel Polish, on sale from the service centre.
You can also use glass cleaner. If the surface is extremely dirty, you can use methylated spirit.
NEVER use scouring powder or any other product that may scratch the surface irreparably. Do not use materials such as steel wool or scraping pads which may scratch the surfaces.

Cleaning/replacing the charcoal filter
Unlike other filters of the same type, LONG LIFE charcoal filters can be cleaned and re-used. The filter should be cleaned every other month under normal operating conditions. We recommend you clean the filter in a dishwasher, at the maximum temperature setting, using a standard detergent. No domestic tools should be in the dishwasher when the filter is cleaned, in order to avoid any food particle deposits on the filter that could create additional unpleasant odours. To reactivate the charcoal, just dry the filter inside your oven. Set the oven mode to normal (not to the "Grill" mode), at a maximum temperature of 100° C, and leave the filter inside it for 10 minutes. Read the filter instructions too.
Lowering the front visor
Clean the filter regularly. Any oil build­ups in the filter or duct could catch fire in the event of overheating.
Clean the filter frequently. The cleaner the filter, the lower the fan motor load, which improves ventilation performance.
Note! Do NOT overload the pull-out glass visor by resting on it or subjecting it to abnormal loads.
The front visor can be lowered to facilitate cleaning operations.
1. Push the front visor upwards until it rests against the rear edge (see figure).
2. Lower the visor until it reaches the front edge (see figure).
3. After cleaning, raise the visor; it locks automatically in place as it reaches the rear edge.
Filter cleaning
Clean the filter once a month or every other month, depending on how often you use the hood. The cleaner the filter, the more it traps oil and fat. To remove the filter (see figure):
1. Using the handle: push the filter upwards to put it back in its initial position.
2. Pull the front of the filter downwards and pull out from the front.
The filter consists of aluminium cables on which the oil and fat deposit. Clean the filter in hot water and some detergent or in your dishwasher. Leave the filter to dry before repositioning it. Please note that the filter colour may fade if it is cleaned in a dishwasher.

Replacing the halogen lamp
When replacing the light bulb, the hood must be cut off from its electricity supply.
1. Remove the glass cover over the lamp using a small screwdriver (see figure).
2. Remove the blown light bulb and replace it with a new one with the same wattage.
3. Reposition the glass cover and push it firmly into place.
Troubleshooting
Before calling our service centre
Check that the appliance is plugged in properly and check the fuses (on the fuse box of your home). Do not attempt anthing that may involve a risk or damage the appliance. If the problem persists, contact your retailer or our after-sales service centre.
Repairs and spare parts
Please contact your retailer for all repair work and spare parts. Before calling our after-sales service centre, note the appliance serial number and the model name. This information can be found on the appliance data plate. Remove the grease filter to access the data plate.
Power supply cable replacement
If the hood power supply cable is damaged, it should be replaced by a qualified serviceman.

Unpacking
Make sure the hood is in perfect condition. The carrier must be notified immediately of any damage incurred during transportation. The retailer must be notified immediately of any damages, faults and any missing parts. Do not leave the packaging components within the reach of children.
Positioning
The hood must be installed in a wall cabinet. Make sure the back of the fan is not touching the wall in any place. This would affect its positioning and could cause the hood to become noisy. The hood must be installed at a minimum of 40 cm above an electric hob or cooker and at least 65 cm above gas burners or a gas cooker (see figure).
Installing the hood in a cabinet
The locking screws must be in place (x
2). If this is not the case, the hood could drop.
1. Trace a line using the installation template to guide you (see figure 1). Saw along this line and cut a groove at the base of the top part of the cabinet.
2. Measure the thickness of the cabinet walls (see figure 2). The most common wall thicknesses are 16 and 19 mm. If the thickness is any different, choose the closest thickness.
3. Install the suspension bars (see figure 2) on the installation template. The drawings illustrate the left-hand side of the cabinet. Fig. A for 16 mm cabinets and fig. B for 19 mm cabinets.
4. Push the installation template against the side of the cabinet and secure the fastening bars with screws (see figure 3).
5. Turn the suspension bar by half a turn when it is installed on the right-hand side of the cabinet.
6. Raise the hood and insert the hooks in the special slots.
7. Push the hood against the wall. Check that all the hooks are correctly inserted in the slots.
8. Install the locking screw (see figure 4).

Installation between two cabinets

The locking screws must be in place (x 2). If this is not the case, the hood could drop.
If the hood is to be installed in such a way that the top edge of the front panel is aligned with the base of the cabinet (see figure 1), follow the instructions provided for "Installing the hood in a cabinet" with 16 mm walls, points 3-8.
If the hood is to be installed at a height above that of the cabinet base:
1. Use the installation template to trace two vertical lines on either side (see figure 2).
2. Measure the height at which the hood must be installed.
3. Install the suspension bars (see figure 3). The drawing illustrates the left-hand side. The right-hand side is the exact opposite.
4. Raise the hood and insert the hooks in the special slots.
5. Push the hood against the wall. Check that all the hooks are correctly inserted in the slots.
6. Install the locking screw (see "Installing the hood in a cabinet", figure 4).

Electrical connection
The electricity socket must be situated above the hood, inside a wall cabinet. The hood is supplied with an electrical power supply cable fitted with a moulded plug with an earthing pin, suitable for a 230 V wall socket.
Depth adjustment
Once the hood has been installed, adjust it so that it is in line with the wall.
1. Remove the filter as illustrated in the chapter entitled "Care and cleaning".
2. Unscrew the screws (see figure).
3. Push the adjustment arms against the wall.
4. Tighten the screws.
5. Reposition the grease filter.

Fitting the cold air inlet

This is not applicable when the hood is used in re­circulation mode. The hood can be fitted with a cold air inlet (see figure). The cold air inlet con­sists of two valves fitted inside the hood flue duct. If the hood is the only ventilation system in the kitchen, the extremity of the valves leading to the outside must be cut off and removed. Bend the valves slightly so that the pins fit into the slots provided in the hood flue duct. Make sure the criss-cross side of the valves is facing upwards.
Push each valve with a pencil or similar object; the valves should open without any resistance. In the event of friction, make sure each valve has not been installed upside down and that none of the pins have slipped out of their slot.
Positioning the charcoal filter
Only applicable for operation in re-circulation mode. The LONG LIFE charcoal filter (special accessory) for this hood is installed instead of the grease filter. The LONG LIFE charcoal filter is both a grease filter as well as a charcoal filter, designed to minimise unpleasant cooking odours. An opening must be made underneath or on the front of the cabinet (min. 100 cm²) where the hood is installed, so that the filtered air can circulate freely and return to the kitchen.
Fitting the flue kit (see figure)
Extend the flue duct, without exaggerat­ing. A duct that is too long or not straight enough could cut down hood efficiency by up to fifty percent. Shorten the duct if it is too long and make sure it is as straight as possible.
A complete flue kit is sold separately as an optio­nal. The flue duct (A) fits over the hood flue connection ring (B) and is kept securely in place by a collar. Make sure the duct is as straight as possible and that it does not impede the movement of the valves in any way. The duct is connected to the duct outlet by the metal connection ring plate (C), supplied in the kit.
