MX2810
Power Supply Unit
Issue Date: 0604
Document Number: 61185003L1-22B
DESCRIPTION
The MX2810 Power Supply Unit (PSU) is a plug-in unit
for the MX2810 chassis that provides the necessary
voltages required to operate the MX2810. With two cards
installed, the MX2810 can recover from power supply
unit or power source failure, depending on configuration. There are three possible configurations and
modes of operation.
The Non-Redundant Power Mode
This mode offers no backup protection, but only requires
one source of power and one PSU.
Power Supply Recovery Mode
This mode offers backup protection in the event of power
supply card failure. This configuration uses a primary
and a backup PSU, but only utilizes one source of power.
In this mode, the MX2810 can continue operation in the
event of a power supply unit failure, without interrupting service.
Power Supply and Source Recover y Mo de
This mode offers a backup system for both card and
source failure. In this mode, two power supply units are
installed and are connected to two individual power
sources. This allows the MX2810 to handle any combination of power source or power supply failure. The
MX2810 is able to internally re-route the power source if
a power supply card and the opposite power source fail.
Features
The PSU has the following features:
♦ Receives unregulated power input
♦ Faceplate status LEDs
♦ Provision free plug-and-play
♦ Hot-swappable
♦ Meets the requirements for NEBS Level 3
