1. General information
1.1 Safety instructions
For your special attention!
mains voltage and the operating voltage specified on the motor name plate must be identical.
Any work on the electrical components must only be performed by authorized personnel and with pulled out mains plug.
The safety instructions must be observed.
The machine is to be installed according to the specifications below. All parts required for this may be found in the accessories.
The
2. Assembling the stand
Assemble the stand parts as shown in the figure. Slide on the enclosed rubber pads
1. The right hand side of the machin e stand has rollers to transport the machine. To lift and transport the machine on the left hand side, the rubber pads on the right hand side must be removed.
1.2 Machine operation without materia l
Prior to operating the machi ne without material, the feet must be locked in their lifted position.
1.3 Table tops
The cutouts of self-manufacture d table tops must be di m ensioned as speci fied in the sketches on page 3 and 4. The table t o ps must also have sufficient carrying str e ngth and rigidit y.
3
To obtain a steady stand, first l o osen the screws 2 and 3 and align the machine stand until it is balanced.

3. Completing a. screwing on the table top
Screw the stru t 1 (page 4) betwe en the cutouts for the machine head and motor belt.
To relieve th e cables of str a i n, screw the cable duct and holder to the table top underside.
Screw on the main switch.
If necessary, attach the sewing lamp transformer.
Lay the electri cal cables as far as possible.
Screw on the drawer with its holder.
Taking into consideration all adjustment possibilities, the knee lever must not hit the oil retainer sheet.
4. Connecting the sewing machine motor with the table top
4.1 General information
Complete mo t or packages are ava i l able for the machin e, consisting of the sewing machine motor, main switch with cables, V-belt pulleys, V-belt, and other parts. The standard version of the three-phase clutch motors is 3x380 V 50 cps (Hz). The speed is 2,800 rpm. Three-phase motors for other mains voltages are available on request.
The DC motors used on this machine are operated with a "single phase AC voltage". In the case of several machines the terminals must therefore be di stributed evenly among the phases of the threephase power supply. Otherwise some phases might be overloaded.
Screw the table top to the stand u sing wood screws B8 x35. The positional relationship of table top and stan d i s determined by t he centre at the table top underside.
Press the rubber pads for the h i nges and the front rubber pads into the recesses of the table top.
Screw the oil retainer sheet with wood screws to the underside of the table top such that the distance between the right edge of the oi l retainer sheet and the right edge of the table top cutout is 55 mm.
Align the oil retainer sheet with the front and rear edge of the table top cutout such that the machine head does not hit the oil retainer sheet when it is tilted backwards.
With the presently used Efka DC 1600 DA 82 CV make sure that its motor control unit is equipp ed with an Eprom for t he functions of a do uble-chainstitc h sewing machine. The present num ber of the Eprom is
3232. We reserve the right to change the
Eprom no.
Attention!
If sewing machine motors are mounted on the class 173, check when starting the machine, whet her the correct func t i ons for the pull er have been enter ed into the motor control unit. Be sure to distinguish between machines with and without thread trimmer. See section 9.
When the electri cal components are not supplied from the factory, they must be checked accor di ng to EN 60204-3-1 or JEC 204-3-1.
