Installation Instructions
Thank you for selecting the SM-075-AS adjustable arm Socket Mount. This universal speaker wall
mount is designed to mount and aim loudspeakers, equipped with pole sockets, to walls and other safe vertical structures, and to provide more floor space. The arm of the SM-075-AS version can be tilted down 15 degrees from horizontal or stowed flat against the wall to clear more clear head room when not in use.
Important: Mounting audio equipment requires experienced professionals. Improperly installed audio equipment can result in property damage, personal injury, death and/or liability to the installing contractor. Do not install if in doubt about the integrity of the mounting structure.
Caution: Due to the wide variety of wall structures, materials and mounting methods, these instructions assume that the installing contractor will exercise good judgment in selecting the proper mounting area and hardware.
Follow these instructions for the most efficient and safest mounting results. Do not exceed the working load limit of 50 lbs/23 kg. As a guide, the installation, when completed should be
capable of supporting at least 5 times the actual applied load. Package Contents:

Step 1. Secure Rubber Post to Arm:
Select the type of post assembly so that the speaker sits tightly and flush on top of the support arm. Assemble the selected rubber post (see fig. 1, 2 & 3) through the desired arm’s hole using the Socketmount logo as a guide. Make sure the tapered end of the rubber post faces up. (Figure 1, 2 & 3).
NOTE: Use the second hole on the arm for better support if possible (Figure 1, 2 &3).
Tighten Post Assembly:
For Plastic cup style (Shallow socket) use the flat washer with the square hole, ½” long rubber spacer and the original 4.5” long carriage bolt. Run nut and flat washer up to the support arm then lower the speaker into place over the post assembly. Aim the speaker then tighten nut 6-8 full revolutions (Figure 1).
For Molded-In-Plastic style (Shallow, ribbed) installation use the flat washer with square hole, the 1.00” long rubber spacer, the 5.5” carriage b olt and the middle hole (Figure 2). Run the nut and the flat washer up to the support arm then lower the speaker into place over the post assembly. Aim the speaker then tighten nut 10-11 full revolutions until speaker is flush and the post assembly is tight inside the socket.
For Metal cup style (deep Sockets) use the flat washer with square hole, the 5.5” long carriage bolt and both the ½” and 1” long rubber spacers. Run the nut and the flat washer up to the support arm then lower the speaker into place over the post assembly. Aim the speaker then tighten nut 6-8 full revolutions (Figure 3).
If locking thumbscrew is provided at the rear of the speaker make sure to loosen before placing the speaker into the post. When speaker is secured on the rubber post, tighten thumbscrew to lock.
Step 2. Attach SocketMount to wall:
Remove the pin attaching the arm to the wall plate and install the wall plate to the wall. Be sure the selected hardware is structurally secured for the wall materials. Use the three holes in the wall plate as a template for pre-drilling (Figure 3). Secure the wall plate to the wall, reattach the arm to the wall plate using either the pin for stowable installation or the 3/8” x 3” button head bolt, washer and nut for permanent installations. If in doubt about
the integrity of the mounting surface or hardware, consult a local structural engineer or hardware specialist.
