4900 Series Heavy Duty Deadlatch

• Function: Flexibility of traffic control and installation is of­fered by the 4900 Series Deadlatches. A reverse turn of the
key while bolt is held retracted retains the bolt, to allow two­way traffic for applications which require free entrance at
certain times and exit-only at other times. Interchangeable,
without stile modification, with any MS1850A or MS1850S
deadbolt of same backset and faceplate shape. Also retrofits
to existing 4500/4700 Deadlatch preparations. 1-3/4” Mini-

prevent case-knife entry.

• Case: Steel with corrosion-resistant plating. 7/8” x 5-13/16”.
Screw-fastenend tube spacer brackets allow for cleaner re­moval when tab mounting.

• Strikeplate: Standard strike furnished is 4902 for flat jamb
where door closes flush or nearly flush.

• Faceplate: 1” x 6-7/8”. Both flat and radius faceplates are
supplied. Flat faceplates can also be adjusted in the field for
right or left hand beveled edge doors.

• Retrofits: Existing latch locks & 8400 series exit devices.

Bottom Rail Deadbolt Options

The MS1861 utilizes the same over center/pivot locking mechanism as the MS deadlock. For use in the
bottom rail of ultra-narrow stile doors and tempered glass doors (which have no stile at all.) Use the
1830 when the bottom rail is too shallow to accommodate the MS1861.

correct functioning of the strike under preload

What is Preload?

Pressure is exerted on a door and transferred to the
electric strike keeper. This pressure prevents the
strike from releasing because of the pressure binds
the latch to the keeper. Even small amounts of “pre­load” can cause the electric strike to malfunction or
be disabled .

Preload Causes

Stack pressure caused by heating and air condition­ing, misaligned strike and locksets, or warped or
damaged metal and wood doors. These preloads can
under some conditions leave a door unlocked mak­ing building assets vulnerable.
