FIRST THINGS FIRST

We would like to thank you for making this Predator notebook your choice for meeting your mobile gaming computing needs.

Your guides

To help you use your Predator notebook, we have designed a set of guides:
First off, the Setup Guide (or Setup Poster) helps you get started with setting up your computer.
The Quick Guide introduces you to the basic features and functions of your new computer. For more on how your computer can help you to be more productive, please refer to the User’s Manual. This guide contains detailed information on such subjects as system utilities, data recovery, expansion options and troubleshooting.
There are two ways to download the User’s Manual. You must first be connected to the internet.
1. Open Acer Care Center from the desktop and select My System > Summary and click User’s Manual to download the User’s Manual.
2. Click on the link under Support.
1. The link will open the Acer Service & Support webpage.
2. From this page you can download and install the Acer identification tool that will automatically detect your computer’s serial number and SNID and allow you to copy it to the clipboard.
3. Scroll down to Drivers and Manuals and search for your model by pasting in or manually entering the serial number, SNID, or product model.
4. Once you have found your product model, select
Documents and select your language to download the User’s Manual.

Tobii Eye Tracking - 25

TOBII EYE TRACKING

Your computer includes a sensor bar below the screen that allows you to control cursor movements on the desktop and character movements in games with just a glance.

Illumination and sensor bar

The eye tracker uses near-IR illumination and cameras to provide an additional input method, offering new browsing and in-game experiences.

Setting up

Everyone’s eyes are different, so eye tracking requires a profile for each user. A simple process calibrates the sensors for best accuracy.
Open the Start menu and select Tobii EyeX Interaction >
Tobii Eye Tracking.
Alternatively click the Tobii icon in the Notification area. Sit comfortably and naturally, as you intend to use your
computer and follow the instructions on the screen.
26 - Tobii Eye Tracking
Note
Finally name your profile; the name of the current profile will be shown in the Notification area menu.
If you occasionally wear glasses or contacts, for best accuracy you may need to set up multiple profiles, one with and one without glasses or contacts.

Further settings (options may vary)

Select the Tobii icon in the Notification area.

Games and Experiences

Many games support eye tracking to control movement and viewing angles. Select Games and Experiences to see games extensions and options
Tobii Eye Tracking - 27
Note
Select Tobii Eye Tracking Intro to see a more information about eye tracking extensions.
Select Infinite Screen Extension to download and activate infinite screen options for many games. Please see tobiigaming.com for a list of compatible games and more information on using Tobii Eye Tracking with games.

Settings

The Settings allow you to control Security, Touchpad, Mouse, and Windows control options.
Security
Use eye tracking to lock your Windows if you are not in front of your computer.
You may also use eye tracking to sign in with Windows Hello:
1. Select Windows Start.
2. Select Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options.
Make sure you are using a PIN to secure access to your computer.
3. Select Windows Hello > Face > Improve recognition.
4. When you next sign in, select Sign-in options, then the Face recognition icon.
Touchpad
Touch at gaze and Scroll and zoom at gaze. Tap to instantly
click, scroll and zoom without dragging the pointer around the screen.
Mouse
Avoid larger hand movements by ’warping’ the pointer to wherever you look. Use the settings to define which key will warp the pointer.
28 - Tobii Eye Tracking
Windows
Use eye tracking to control the Application switcher, Task view and Windows snap assist.
About
Check for updates and get help with a troubleshooter.

Gaze Trace

A circle highlights the gaze point while you use your computer, and allows you to check your profile's calibration or show where you are looking in demos and videos.

User profiles

Select the eye tracking area at the bottom of the options to open User Profiles. You may add profiles for different users, and delete or recalibrate existing profiles.

Note

RECOVERY

If you are having trouble with your computer, and the frequently asked questions (see Got a question? on page 76) do not help, you can recover your computer.
This section describes the recovery tools available on your computer. Acer provides Acer Care Center, which allows you to reset your PC, refresh your PC, or create a factory default backup.
Acer Care Center is only available with a pre-installed Windows operating system.
We recommend that you create a Factory Default Backup as soon as possible. In certain situations a full recovery will require a USB recovery backup.

Creating a factory default backup

Backup allows you to quickly and easily back up your operating system, installed apps and data.
1. From Start, select All apps then Acer. Select Acer
Recovery Management in the list of Acer apps.
Since the recovery backup requires at least 8 GB of storage afte r formatting, it is recommended to use a USB drive with a capacity of 16
GB or larger.
30 - Recovery
2. Select the Backup tab and click Get Started for Create Factory Default Backup to open the Recovery Drive
window.
3. Make sure Backup system files to the recovery drive is selected and click Next.
4. Plug in the USB drive and wait for the PC to detect the USB drive then click Next.
