HB & HBD Hydraulic Dampers - Adjustment Instructions
Pull the piston rod out to its fully extended position. While pulling on the rod, turn it
clockwise or counterclockwise until the desired damping is achieved. The adjustment
is multi-turn and correct damping may require several trial and error adjustments. A
built in antilock guard allows adjustments to be made at any damping rate without
unit lock-up.
Warning: Do not completely close off the damper
Closing off the damper causes it to become very stiff. It will therefore be difficult to fully
extend the damper in order to open the adjustment. The product is not damaged.
Sending the damper back will only result in additional charges. Simply follow the
directions below to restore adjustment.
Directions
Hang the damper in the vertical position with the rod pointing down. Attach a load
to the rod end of the damper, approximately 15 lbs (6.80 kg). The load will slowly extend
the damper. When fully extended the adjustment pin will be engaged. Turn the rod
with the weight still hanging to open the adjustment.
