Warning

Before Using Yo ur Refrigerator

Remove the exterior and i nterior packing.
Before connecting the refrigerator to the power source, let it stand upright for approximately 2
hours. This will reduce the possibility of a malfunction in the cooling system from handling during transportation.
Clean the interior surface with lukewarm water usin g a soft cloth.

Installing Your Refrigerator

This appliance is designe d to be free standing only, and shoul d not be r ecessed or built-in.
Place your refrigerator on a floor or other surface that is strong enough to support it when
fully loaded. To level your appliance, adjust the leveling leg at t he bot tom of the refrigerator.
Allow about 5” (12 cm) of space between the back and sides of the appliance and 4” (10 cm)
at the top. This will allow the pr oper air circulation to cool the com pr essor.
Locate the appliance away from direct sunlight and sources of heat (stove, heater, radiator,
etc.). Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and heat sources may increase electrical consumption. Extremely cold ambient temperatures may also cause the refrigerator not to perform properly.
Avoid locating the appliance in moist areas.
Plug the appliance into an exclusive, properly installed and grounded wall outlet. Do not
under any circumstances cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord. Any questions concerning power and/or grounding shoul d be directed toward a certified electrician or an authorized service cent er .
After plugging the appliance into a wall outlet, allow the unit to cool down for 2-3 hours before
placing items inside the cabinet.

Electrical Connection

Improper use of the grounded plug can result in the risk of elect rical shock. If the power cord is damaged, have it replaced by an authorized service ce nt er .
This appliance should be properly grounded for your safety. The power cord is equipped with
a three-pin plug which mates with standard three-prong wall outlets to minimize the possibility of electrical shock.
Do not under any circumstances cut or remove the third ground prong from the power cord
supplied.
This refrigerator requires a standard 115Volts AC~ 60Hz electrical outlet with three-prong

OPERATING YOUR REFRIGERATOR

Setting the Temperature Control

To control the internal temperature, adjust the control dial according to the ambient
temperature or intended u se of the refrigerator.
The first time you turn the unit on, se t t he t emperature control to 3 or 4.
The range of the temperature control is from position OFF to 6, with 6 being the coldest
setting. After 24 to 48 hours, adjust the temperature control if necessary, but a setting of 3 should be appropriate for most circumstanc es.
To turn the appliance off, set the temperature control to OFF. NOTES:
1. Turning the temperature control to the OFF position stops the cooling cycle but does not
shut off the power to the unit.
2. If the refrigerator is unplugged, has lost power, or is turned off, you must wait 3 to 5
minutes before restarting the unit. If you attempt to restart before this time delay, the refrigerator will not start.
Chiller Compartment
This compartment is actually part of the refrigerator com par tment and is not a true and separate freezer. It can make ice cubes b ut may not keep other items frozen or get cold enough to freeze them safely. You can use a colder thermostat setting to freeze cert ai n it ems, but the contents of the refrigerator may be affected.
The door of the chiller compar t m ent is susceptible to breakage due to excessive ice build-up. This part is not covered under your warranty. Be sure to defrost w hen t he ice reaches a thickness of 1/4".
Defrosting
This appliance requires m anual defrosting. The surface of the evaporator ices up when the refrigerator is in normal use. When the frost/ice layer reaches a thickness of 1/4", the refrigerator must be defrosted and cleaned. Otherwise, lower efficiency and high ener gy consumption will result.
1. Empty the refrigerator and leave the door open.
2. Turn the thermostat to the OFF position and unplug the refrigerator.
3. Position a shallow tray on the shelf below t he chiller compartment.
4. After the ice has melted, dry the unit carefully and empty the drip tray.
5. Reconnect the power and set the ther mostat to its original setting; close t he door.
6. Allow time for the unit to reach its normal temperature, then reload t he contents.
CAUTION: Using a sharp or metallic instrume nt t o r em ove frost may damage the cooling system
and will void the warranty . Instead, use the ice scraper included with your appliance..

Wring excess water out of the sponge or cloth before cleaning the area of the controls, or any
electrical parts.
Wash the outside cabinet with warm water and mild liquid detergent. Rinse well and wipe dry
with a soft, clean cloth.

Vacation Time

Short vacations: Leav e the refrigerator operating during vacations of less than thr ee weeks.
Long vacations: If the refrigerator will not be used for several months, remove contents and
unplug the power cord. Clean and dry the interior thoroughly. To prevent odor and mold growth, leave the door open slightly, blocking it open if necessar y.

Moving Your Refrigerator

Remove all stored items.
Securely tape down all loose items, such as the shelf and chiller compartment door, inside
your refrigerator.
Turn the leveling screw up to the base to avoid damage.
Tape the door shut.
Be sure the refrigerator stays secure in the upright position during transportation. Also
protect the outside of the refrigerator with a blanket or similar it em.

Energy Saving Tips

The refrigerator should be located in the coolest area of the room, away from heat-producing
appliances and out of dire ct sunlight.
Let warm items cool to room temperature before placing in the refrigerator. Overloading the
refrigerator forces the compressor to run longer.
Be sure to package stored items properly and wipe containers dry before placing them in the
refrigerator. This cuts dow n on frost build-up inside the appliance.
Refrigerator shelves should not be lined with aluminum foil, wax paper, or paper toweling.
Liners interfere with cold air circulation, making the refrigerator less efficient.
Organize and label ite ms to r educe door openings and extended se ar ches. Remove as many
items as needed at one time, and close the door as soon as possible.
