When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including:

Read all instructions, including these important safeguards and the care and use instructions in this manual.

To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs, or other electric parts in water or other liquids.

Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by or near children.

Unplug the appliance from outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning.

Avoid contact with moving parts.

Do not operate this appliance with a damaged cord or plug, after the appliance malfunctions or if the appliance is dropped or damaged in any manner. If you experience any problems with your appliance, unplug it immediately from the electrical outlet. For service information see warranty page.

The use of accessory attachments, including canning jars, not recommended or sold by Focus Electrics may cause fire, electric shock or injury to persons.

Do not use outdoors.

Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter.

Do not let the cord come into contact with hot surfaces, including a stove.

Keep hands and utensils (other than included stir stick) out of blending jar while mixing ingredients to reduce risk of severe injury to persons or damage to the appliance. A scraper may be used but must be used only when the appliance is not running.

Blades are sharp; handle carefully.

To reduce the risk of injury, never place cutter-assembly blades on base without blending jar properly attached.

Always operate the appliance with the lid in place.

When blending hot liquids, remove centerpiece of two-piece cover.

Do not run motor without blending jar properly attached to motor base or when blending jar is empty.

Do not use this appliance for other than its intended use.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

Congratulations! We hope you enjoy your new ChefscapeBlender. The ChefscapeBlender is designed for endless blending and chopping possibilities and easy clean-up capabilities. The ChefscapeBlender has been designed with a variable speed dial as well as a pulse, smoothie and ice crush function that lets you purée, blend, mix, chip, and liquefy your favorite fresh ingredients to make gourmet soups, homemade salsas, icy cocktails, thick and delicious frozen smoothies and shakes, baby food, and more.

The ChefscapeBlender is two appliances combined into one.

Use the Blender attachment to make gourmet soups, blend creamy salad dressings, puree baby food and salsa, or to mix batters for homemade multigrain pancakes and waffles.

Use the Smoothie Maker attachments to quickly and easily blend and dispense perfect smoothies, icy cocktails, frozen coffee, and thick shakes.

3

The powerful 1000-watt motor, specially designed stainless steel blades, and variable speed operation work together to precisely blend and chop all types of ingredients for exact recipe specifications. The smoothie maker blade base has been specifically designed with heavy, stainless steel blades to easily crush ice and frozen fruit. The blade base can also be used to make smoothies and other frozen drinks. Both are built to accommodate the revolutionary stir stick, which when rotated counter-clockwise, increases blending efficiency. The 56-ounce polycarbonate blending jar has a spill-proof pour spout and is dishwasher safe.

ASSEMBLING YOUR BLENDER

Before assembling your blender, wash all parts, except for the motor base in warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly and dry. Unscrew and disassemble the valve for cleaning (see Cleaning Your Appliance section). To prolong the life of your appliance, do not wash parts in the dishwasher.

USING YOUR BLENDER

ChefscapeBlender Control Buttons

“OFF” - turns the appliance off. “ON” – turns the appliance on.

“MIN” - runs the blender at low speed. This speed should be used for the initial 30 seconds of mixing as well as for dispensing.

“MAX” - runs the appliance at high speed. Use this speed for the final stages of mixing. Do not use this speed for dispensing.

“SMOOTHIE” – runs at high speed and should be used for making frozen drinks.

“ICE CRUSH” – pulsates the blender at a high speed to crush ice and frozen ingredients.

“PULSE” - gives short bursts of power at high speed.

BLENDER OPERATION:

1.Assemble the blade base onto the blending jar.

2.Add ingredients to the blending jar and replace the lid. You may add more ingredients through the hole in the center of the lid. Cover the hole with the lid cap or stir stick during operation. Note: Add liquid ingredients first, then add frozen or solid ingredients. This will prevent excessive wear and stress on the motor.

3.To start blending: From the “OFF” position move the dial to the desired speed or press the desired function. The blue LED light will become brighter as the dial is moved from “MIN” toward “MAX.”

4.To stop blending: To stop the blending process, return the dial to the “OFF” position.

PULSE MODE: The “PULSE” button allows you to create short bursts of power. To use the “PULSE” function, from the “ON” position repeatedly push and release the “PULSE” button. The “PULSE” function should be used in the initial stage of blending ice and frozen ingredients for smoothies and other frozen drinks. The “PULSE” function should also be used to break apart larger pieces of food or to control the texture of food when chunkier results are desired. The “PULSE” button should be operated in short bursts. As the “PULSE” button is pressed and released, the blades should stop rotating between pulses.

ICE CRUSH: The “ICE CRUSH” button allows you to crush ice and other frozen ingredients. In selecting “ICE CRUSH” the motor will pulsate to a high speed until the desired consistency is reached.

SMOOTHIE: The “SMOOTHIE” button runs the motor at a high speed to smooth out ice and frozen ingredients. Perfect for creating smooth, frozen drinks.

5

SMOOTHIE MAKER OPERATION:

The ChefscapeBlender blending jar is conveniently marked to create perfect smoothies and drinks. To make a frozen blend of your favorite healthy foods, follow these simple steps:

1.Assemble the smoothie maker blade base, with dispensing valve, onto the blending jar. Place the lid into position and insert the stir stick through the hole in the center of the lid.

2.ADD LIQUIDS – Add desired combination of liquid ingredients. Liquids include any soft ingredients such as fruit, milk, fruit juice, herbal supplements, or yogurt in any combination you think would be tasty.

3.ADD ICE – Add desired amount of ice or frozen ingredients. Frozen ingredients include ice, frozen fruit, frozen yogurt, ice cream, etc.

4.SMOOTH IT - With the lid on and the stir stick set in the hole in the center of the lid, press the “ICE CRUSH” button for 5-10 seconds to get things started. Next, move the dial to “MIN” for about 30 seconds. Finally, press the “SMOOTHIE” button. Continue until smooth. Turn the stir stick counter-clockwise for best mixing results. Note: Do not exceed 90 seconds of blending.

5.SERVE IT - To serve the smoothie, move the dial to “MIN”, hold a cup under the dispensing valve and with the motor running, press down on the valve lever. Stir the smoothie with the stir stick while dispensing thick smoothies. As the smoothie level reaches the bottom of the blending jar, a thick mix may stop dispensing. Add a few tablespoons of liquid to increase flow. When the blending jar is empty, move the dial to the “OFF” position to shut off the appliance.

HELPFUL HINTS

To make a thicker smoothie, add more frozen ingredients.

To make a thinner smoothie, add more liquid ingredients.

Always add the liquid ingredients to the blending jar first and then add the remaining ingredients. This will prevent excessive wear on the motor and ensure that the ingredients are properly blended.

Cut food into approximately ¾” pieces. You will get a more even chop if you start with pieces that are all the same size.

The stir stick may be used to assist in making frozen drinks or for blending any other types of ingredients. When the stir stick is not being used, be sure to place the lid cap over the hole in the center of the lid.

When chopping dry ingredients such as bread crumbs, nuts, spices, etc., make sure that the blending jar and blade bases are completely dry.

The “PULSE” button should be operated in short bursts. As the “PULSE” button is pressed and released, the blades should stop rotating between pulses.

Do not attempt to mix or knead heavy dough, mash potatoes, or beat egg whites.

Do not over-blend foods. Most ingredients should be properly blended or chopped in seconds. Do not operate the motor base for longer than 90 seconds at a time.

If the motor stalls, turn off and unplug the appliance. Remove a portion of the ingredients before attempting to continue.

Do not add boiling liquids to the blending jar.
