Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.

Extreme caution must be used when unloading popcorn. Always turn the unit away from you and over a countertop so that residual hot oil or water running out will not cause burns.

A popper that is plugged into an outlet should not be left unattended.

Do not attempt to repair this appliance yourself.

A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

Longer extension cords are available, but care must be exercised in their use. While use of an extension cord is not recommended, if you must use one, ensure that the marked electrical rating of the extension cord is equal to or greater than that of the appliance. If the plug is of the grounded type, the extension cord must be a grounding-type 3-wire cord. To avoid pulling, tripping or entanglement, position the extension cord so that it does not hang over the edge of the counter, table or other area where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

Do not use an outlet or extension cord if the plug fits loosely or if the outlet or extension cord feels hot.

USING YOUR STIR CRAZY® 2 CORN POPPER

Warning: DO NOT USE if the glass heating element is cracked or broken. “ON/OFF” switch must always be “OFF” ( O ) when the popping plate is removed.

1.Place the base on a dry, level surface, away from any edge. Set the popping plate with stir rod onto the heating base. The handles of the popping plate should rest snugly over the handles on the heating base and the connector fit completely over the shaft in the heating base. Make sure that the popping plate with stir rod is completely seated in the base.

2.Put vegetable oil and corn into the popping plate. Do not substitute butter, margarine, shortening, or lard for vegetable oil as these will burn or smoke excessively. Do not add more corn or oil than recommended. Specialty oils may be used, but some experimentation may be necessary to find the best popping results and flavor you prefer. Do not use more than 3 tablespoons of any oil.

**If using a gourmet/premium grade of corn, use less than amount of corn specified. To yield 2 quarts of popcorn, use ¼ cup corn; for 4 quarts of popcorn, use ½ cup; for 6 quarts of popcorn, use ¾ cup.

3.Place the cover on the popping plate, making sure the handles of the cover fit securely into the handles of the popping plate. If buttered corn is desired, divide recommended amount of refrigerated butter into 6 equal-sized pats and place in a single layer in the butter well. (If unrefrigerated butter is used, add to butter well after the first kernel of corn pops.) Popcorn will be buttered as it pops. If unbuttered corn is desired, do not add butter to the butter well. DO NOT USE

BUTTER CAP DURING THE POPPING PROCESS. Put the cap on AFTER popping is complete.

4.Plug cord into a 120 volt, AC outlet only. Press the “ON/OFF” switch to “ON”

( l ). The stir rod will rotate as long as the corn popper is on. Do not shake popper during popping cycle. In 4 to 5 minutes the popping cycle will be completed. Turn “ON/OFF” switch to “OFF” ( O ).

5.If butter is not completely melted in butter well, use a pastry brush to push any remaining butter through the buttering holes. Snap butter cap securely onto butter well. This cap must be on the cover before the popping plate is inverted.

6.Grasp handles firmly, lift popping plate and cover off of the heating base, move assembly away from the heating base, then turn upside down. Lift popping plate away from the cover, lifting away from you, and be cautious of escaping steam. Place the popping plate on a wire rack to cool or place back into heating base in proper operating position. Note: Do not place hot popping plate on to the heating base in any way other than proper operating position as damage to the appliance may occur.

Tip: Popcorn is done when there is a 1-2 second pause between pops or if the cover has lifted or is turning. To avoid scorching, follow step 6 as soon as popping cycle is complete.

7. Popcorn is now ready for serving. Sprinkle popcorn with salt if desired.

Popping Additional Batches of Popcorn - If you plan to pop more corn immediately, transfer popcorn from serving cover to another serving bowl. Follow steps 2 through 6 above.

A small amount of smoke and/or odor may occur upon heating due to the release of manufacturing oils – this is normal.

Some minor expansion/contraction sounds may occur during heating and cooling – this is normal.

HELPFUL HINTS

Always use fresh popcorn. Dried out, stale, or old popcorn pops poorly as it has lost its moisture content and may scorch.

Store popcorn in airtight containers made of glass or plastic to avoid moisture loss in the kernels. Be sure that the container is stored in a cool place, do not store in the refrigerator. Most refrigerators contain little moisture and can dry out kernels, resulting in poor popping.

This popcorn popper can accommodate both regular and premium popcorns. Premium and gourmet popcorns may not yield results as good as regular popcorn. If premium or gourmet popcorn is used, you may notice an increase in the number of unpopped kernels.

If popcorn does not pop, it is usually the result of environmental factors such as the freshness and moisture content of the popcorn, or variances by popcorn type. Unpopped kernels do not necessarily indicate a defect in the appliance.

Instead of popping with vegetable oil, try one of these healthy choices, extra virgin olive oil, canola oil, coconut oil, corn oil, peanut oil, or sunflower oil. Specialty oils may also be used, but some experimentation may be necessary to find the best popping results and flavor you prefer. Do not use more than 3 tablespoons of any oil.

Add flavor to your oil while popping - add a garlic clove or minced garlic, onion slices, or jalapeño peppers.

When done popping, start layering flavors. We find a light misting of olive oil, (many great infused olive oils are also available) lemon or lime juice, balsamic vinegar, or even water will help any additional seasonings adhere to the corn.

Melted chocolate or marshmallow is a great way to bind and layer decadent ingredients with popcorn, or to create popcorn balls, bars, or pops. For a more traditional binder, boil 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of corn syrup, then add your other ingredients toss and form. Or while still warm, roll balls or pops in crushed candies, coconut, chopped nuts, sprinkles.

CLEANING YOUR STIR CRAZY® 2 CORN POPPER

Clean Popper After Every Use - Your corn popper should be cleaned after each use. Always allow popper to cool completely before cleaning.

Cleaning Cover - Wash cover and butter cap in warm, soapy water with a dishcloth or sponge. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Do not use scouring pad or abrasive cleaners on cover as these could cause scratching. The cover may be washed in an automatic dishwasher, top rack only.

Cleaning Popping Plate with Stir Rod - Clean the non-stick surface of the popping plate and stir rod with a damp, soapy dishcloth, sponge or nylon-scouring pad. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or cleaners on the non-stick finish as scratching may occur. After consistent use, the non-stick finish may discolor. To remove discoloration, use a soft cloth saturated with lemon juice or vinegar and rub over finish. Then wipe the finish with a damp cloth and dry. If desired, the popping plate with stir rod may be washed in an automatic dishwasher.

The stir rod is NOT removable.

Cleaning Heating Base - Use a damp cloth to wipe any spills in or on the heating base, if necessary. Wait until the heating base has cooled completely before wiping. DO NOT remove the grate from the heating base for cleaning.

DO NOT PLACE HEATING BASE IN AN AUTOMATIC DISHWASHER OR IMMERSE IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID.

This appliance has no user serviceable parts.
