BATTERY AND ANTENNA INSTALLATION
PEeasa read the following instructions carefully and complefaly before operating your scanner.

RECHARGEABLE BATTERY PACK You can purchase an optional NiCad battery pack from your local dealer or
from Uniden. The rechargeable battery pach fits Into the baltery compartment and also comes with a battery charger. You can use your Ijniden' Searcar 5ÛXL for years without ever having lo buy batteries.
WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RECHARGE NON-RECHARGEABLE BAT TERlES! Befors atfeTnpiing iù recharge patier'ies. open batJsfy compartment and check the r/pe of Pattenes fostalled. Recharge only the Nickel Cadmtum rechargeable battery pack destgr^ed for this unit. Any other rechargeable battery
will not work properly.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT
Whençiver you replace your batteries, you mus( lurn the radio off arid im­midiately replace them with nçw batteries to avoid memory losa.
INSTALLING THE ANTENNA Insert the connector end oí the flexible antenna provided into the receptacle
on top of the urtil and linger tighten. An external antenna may be helpful in fringe areas. Always use 50-70 ohm coax ial cable for lead-in. For lengihs in excess of 50 feet. RG8AU low-loss foam dielectric coax is recommended. Your scanner is equipped with a standard BNC connector. You may need an adapler (optional) or other type of mating plug for proper connection
