GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS
WARNING: Read all safety warnings and all instructions.
Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
Work area safety:
a)Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b)Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c)Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control.
Electrical safety:
a)Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools.
Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b)Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c)Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d)Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e)When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
f)If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
Personal safety:
a)Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
b)Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection.
Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c)Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energizing power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
d)Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e)Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f)Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g)If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used.
Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
Power tool use and care:
a)Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
b)Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off.
Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c)Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
d)Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e)Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f)Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g)Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
Battery tool use and care:
a)Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
b)Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.
c)When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
d)Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
Service:
a)Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

OTHER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: When using electric tools, basic safety precautions should always be used to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury. Only use UL listed extension cords suitable for outdoor use, such as Type SW-A, STW-A. STOW-A, SJW-A, SJOW-A, SJTW-A, or SJTOW-A.
•Extension Cords: Make sure the extension cord is in good condition, is heavy enough to carry the current that the unit will draw. If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge cord. An undersized extension cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in a loss of power and overheating. The table shown illustrates the correct size to use depending on the cord length and nameplate amperage rating.

•If the extension cord is damaged in any manner while plugged in, disconnect the extension cord from both the house and the unit. Do not re-use until the extension cord has been repaired or replaced.
•Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection should be provided on the circuit(s) or outlet(s) to be used for this unit. Receptacles are available having built-in GFCI protection and may be used for an added measure of safety.
•Wear safety glasses or goggles with side shields that are marked as meeting ANSI Z87.1 standards, and ear/hearing protection when operating this unit. Wear a face or dust mask if the operation is dusty.
•Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintain cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
•Allow the unit to cool before storing or transporting. Be sure to secure the unit while transporting.
•Never douse or squirt the unit with water or any other liquid. Keep handles dry, clean and free from debris. Clean after each use.
•Keep these instructions. Refer to them often and use them to instruct other users. If loaning someone this unit, also loan them these instructions.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
This unit comes completely assembled.
UNPACKING
1.Carefully remove the product and any accessories from the box.
2.Inspect the product carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping. Do not discard the packing material until you have carefully inspected and satisfactorily operated the product. If any parts are damaged or missing, please call 1-800-828-5500 (U.S.) or 1-800-668-1238 (Canada) for assistance.
CHARGING THE BATTERY
CAUTION: Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
—Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
—Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
—Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
—Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
NOTE: The battery is not shipped fully charged. It is recommended to fully charge the battery before use to ensure that maximum run time can be achieved. The lithium-ion battery will not develop a memory and may be charged at any time. A fully discharged battery will require approximately 3-5 hours to completely charge.
NOTE: Use only the supplied charger (Model # SH-DC120400, P/N 75306672) when charging. The use of any other charger could damage the battery or create a hazardous condition.

5. Disconnect the unit from the charger.
NOTE: The unit may be stored with the charger still attached, but the charger should be disconnected from the wall outlet / receptacle when doing so.
NOTE: Lithium-ion batteries, while in use, will continue to provide full power without power fade, unlike typical batteries; when the battery is fully discharged, the battery circuitry will immediately cut power to the tool and require immediate charging.
IMPORTANT! DO NOT use the unit while it is charging. Doing so may damage the unit and battery.
NOTE: This accessory is to be used on electric start capable units only. Refer to the Starting Instructions section of the unit’s Operator’s Manual for proper starting instructions when using this accessory. FOR INTERMITTENT USE ONLY.
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: This unit was designed to not have any serviceable parts and should ONLY be repaired by an authorized service dealer.
CLEANING AND STORAGE
CLEANING
Use a small brush to clean off the outside of the unit and keyed tip. Do not use strong detergents. Household cleaners that contain aromatic oils such as pine and lemon, and solvents such as kerosene, can damage plastic housing or handle. Wipe off any moisture with a soft cloth.
STORAGE
•Check unit before storage to be sure the equipment is in safe working condition.
•Stop the motor.
•Store the unit indoors, in a dry and locked place, out of the reach of children.
•Maintain or replace safety and instruction labels, as necessary.
OPERATING THE ELECTRIC STARTER
WARNING: To avoid serious personal injury and unit damage do not use the electric starter in damp or wet locations, in rain or snow.
NOTE: Inspect the unit prior to use. DO NOT use the unit if any part is damaged in any way. Take to an authorized service dealer for replacement or repairs.

1.Place the electric starter keyed tip into the hole in the rear of the engine, making sure the engine tabs on the back of the engine are flush with the

IMPORTANT! The battery is equipped with an internal circuit breaker that will automatically shut off power to the unit if the battery is overloaded during heavy use. Once cooled, the battery will reset itself. Follow these steps if an overload occurs:
1.Release the trigger and then restart the unit.
2.The battery may need to cool for approximately 1 minute.

The limited warranty set forth below is given by Troy-Bilt LLC (“Troy-Bilt”) with respect with new merchandise purchased and used in the United States, its possessions and territories.
Troy-Bilt warrants this product against defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year commencing on the date of original purchase and will, at its option, repair or replace, free of charge, any part found to be defective in material or workmanship. This limited warranty shall only apply if this product has been operated and maintained in accordance with the Operator’s Manual furnished with the product, and has not been subject to misuse, abuse, commercial use, neglect, accident, improper maintenance, alteration, vandalism, theft, fire, water, or damage because of other peril or natural disaster. Damage resulting from the installation or use of any accessory or attachment not approved by Troy-Bilt for use with the product(s) covered by this manual will void your warranty as to any resulting damage.
HOW TO OBTAIN SERVICE: Warranty service is available, WITH PROOF OF PURCHASE THROUGH YOUR LOCAL AUTHORIZED SERVICE DEALER. This limited warranty does not provide coverage in the following cases:
A.Tune-ups - Spark Plugs, Carburetor Adjustments, Filters
B.Wear items - Bump Knobs, Outer Spools, Cutting Line, Inner Reels, Starter Pulley, Starter Ropes, Drive Belts, Saw Chains, Guide Bars, Cultivator Tines.
C.Troy-Bilt does not extend any warranty for products sold or exported outside of the United States of America, its possessions and territories, except those sold through TroyBilt’s authorized channels of export distribution.
Troy-Bilt reserves the right to change or improve the design of any Troy-Bilt Product without assuming any obligation to modify any product previously manufactured.
No implied warranty, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, applies after the applicable period of express written warranty above as to the parts as identified. No other express warranty or guaranty, whether written or oral, except as mentioned above, given by any person or entity, including a dealer or retailer, with respect to any product shall bind Troy-Bilt. During the period of the Warranty, the exclusive remedy is repair or replacement of the product as set forth above. (Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.)
The provisions as set forth in this Warranty provide the sole and exclusive remedy arising from the sales. Troy-Bilt shall not be liable for incidental or consequential loss or damages including, without limitation, expenses incurred for substitute or replacement lawn care services, for transportation or for related expenses, or for rental expenses to temporarily replace a warranted product. (Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.)
In no event shall recovery of any kind be greater than the amount of the purchase price of the product sold. Alteration of the safety features of the product shall void this Warranty. You assume the risk and liability for loss, damage, or injury to you and your property and/or to others and their property arising out of the use or misuse or inability to use the product.
This limited warranty shall not extend to anyone other than the original purchaser, original lessee or the person for whom it was purchased as a gift.

CONSIGNES DE SÉCURITÉ GÉNÉRALES POUR LES OUTILS ÉLECTRIQUES
AVERTISSEMENT : Lisez attentivement et dans leur intégralité les instructions et les avertissements relatifs à la sécurité. Le non respect des avertissements et des consignes peut entraîner des risques d’incendie, de décharge électrique et des blessures graves.
Gardez les avertissements et les consignes pour une consultation ultérieure.
Le terme « outil électrique » utilisé dans les consignes de sécurité fait référence à votre outil fonctionnant sur secteur (avec cordon électrique) ou batterie (sans cordon électrique).
Sécurité sur le lieu de travail :
a)Gardez le lieu de travail propre et bien illuminé. Un lieu de travail encombré ou sombre augmente le risque d’accidents.
b)N’utilisez pas les outils dans un environnement explosif, par exemple en présence de produits inflammables, gaz, ou poussière. Des outils électriques produisent des étincelles qui peuvent allumer les vapeurs ou la poussière.
c)Gardez toutes les personnes et les enfants à distance lorsque vous utilisez un outil électrique. Les distractions peuvent vous faire perdre le contrôle de l’appareil.
b)Evitez tout contact avec les surfaces utilisées pour la mise à la terre tels que les tuyaux de plomberie, les radiateurs, des cuisinières et les frigidaires. Le risque d’électrocution augmente lorsque votre corps est mis à terre ou touche le sol.
c)Ne laissez pas vos outils électriques sous la pluie ou dans un environnement humide. De l’eau pénétrée dans un outil électrique augmentera le risque d’électrocution.
d)Ménagez le cordon. Ne portez jamais un outil par le cordon électrique ou ne tirez pas sur le cordon électrique pour débrancher l’outil de la prise de courant. Gardez le cordon d’alimentation loin des sources de chaleur, d’huile, des bords coupants ou d’objets en mouvement. Un cordon endommagé ou emmêlé augmentera le risque de décharge électrique.
e)Lorsque vous utilisez des outils électriques à l’extérieur, n’utilisez que des rallonges conçues pour une utilisation d’extérieur. Utiliser une rallonge conçue pour une utilisation d’extérieur diminue le risque d'électrocution.
f)S’il est absolument nécessaire d’utiliser un outil électrique dans un environnement humide, utilisez une prise de courant protégée par un disjoncteur. L’utilisation d’une prise de courant avec disjoncteur diminuera le risque d’électrocution.
Sécurité personnelle :
a)Soyez attentif, faites attention à ce que vous faites et faites preuve de bons sens lorsque vous utilisez un outil électrique. N’utilisez pas un outil électrique lorsque vous êtes fatigué, ou sous l’influence de l’alcool, de drogues, ou de médicaments. Une seconde d’inattention lorsque vous utilisez un outil électrique peut résulter en une blessure grave.
b)Utilisez un équipement de protection. Utilisez toujours des lunettes de sécurité L’utilisation d’un équipement de sécurité tel que masque antipoussière, chaussures de sécurité antidérapantes, casque ou casque antibruit diminueront le risque de blessures.
c)Evitez les démarrages accidentels. Assurez-vous que l’interrupteur Marche/Arrêt est sur Arrêt avant de brancher sur courant électrique et/ou sur batterie, de ramasser ou de transporter l’outil. Transporter les outils en tenant votre doigt sur l’interrupteur ou le bouton d’actionnement de l’outil augmente le risqué d’accidents.
d)Enlevez toute pince ou clé d'ajustement avant d'allumer l'outil électrique. Une clé ou une pince qui serait restée accrochée à une partie rotative peut résulter en blessure grave.
e)N’essayez pas d’atteindre un point trop éloigné. Gardez vos pieds fermement et bien à plat sur le sol et gardez toujours votre équilibre. Ceci vous permet un meilleur contrôle de l’outil dans des situations inattendues.
f)Portez des vêtements appropriés. Ne portez pas de vêtements amples ou de bijoux. Gardez vos cheveux, vos vêtements et gants éloignés des parties en mouvement. Les vêtements et les bijoux trop lâches ou des cheveux longs peuvent se prendre dans les pièces en mouvement.
g)Si des ustensiles pour l’extraction de poussières sont fournis avec l’outil, assurez-vous qu'ils sont installés et utilisés correctement.
L’utilisation d'un extracteur de poussière peut réduire les accidents en relation avec la poussière.
L’utilisation et l’entretien d’un outil électrique :
a)Ne forcez pas l’outil. Utilisez l’outil approprié pour la tâche. L’outil approprié exécutera mieux la tâche, plus en sécurité et à la vitesse pour laquelle il a été conçu.
b)N’utilisez l’outil que si l’interrupteur Marche/Arrêt fonctionne normalement. Tout outil qui ne peut être contrôlé par l’interrupteur Marche/Arrêt est dangereux et doit être réparé.
c)Débranchez la fiche de la prise de courant et/ou batterie de l’outil avant de faire des ajustements, de changer d’accessoires ou de ranger l’outil.
De telles mesures de sécurité éviteront des démarrages accidentels.
d)Rangez vos outils hors de la portée des enfants et ne laissez pas les personnes qui ne sont pas familiarisées avec l’outil ou ses instructions utiliser celui ci. Les outils électriques sont dangereux dans les mains d’utilisateurs inexpérimentés.
e)Entretenez les outils électriques. Vérifiez l’alignement de toutes les pièces mobiles, vérifiez si elles ne sont pas déformées ou brisées, vérifiez les supports, et s’il n’y a pas d’autre problème susceptible d'affecter le fonctionnement de l’appareil. S’il y a des dommages, faites réparer l’outil avant de l’utiliser. Beaucoup d'accidents surviennent avec des outils mal entretenus.
f)Gardez les lames des outils de coupe bien aiguisées et propres. Des outils de coupe bien entretenus avec des lames bien affûtées et propres calleront moins vite et sont plus facile à contrôler.
