Important Safety Instructions

Before you use this device for the first time, please read the following notes in this manual and heed all warnings, even if you are familiar with handling electronic devices. Keep this manual safe for future reference. If you sell the device or pass it on, it is essential that you also hand over this manual.

Warning: Mains Isolation:

The On/Off switch located on the back panel of this device does not fully disconnect the device from the mains. Furthermore, the device consumes electricity in the Standby mode. In order to completely disconnect the device from the mains, the power plug must be pulled out from the wall outlet. For this reason, the device should be positioned in such a way that unobstructed access to the wall outlet is ensured, so that the power plug can be immediately pulled out in an emergency situation. To avoid the risk of fire if the device is not going to be used for a long while (e.g. during holidays), it should always be disconnected from the power socket.

Do not open the housing of the device - it contains no serviceable parts! Opening the housing exposes you to lethal electric shocks.

Before stormy weather when there is the risk of lightning, disconnect the device from the power supply.

Power cord precautions:

Always hold the power cord by the plug. Never pull on the cable itself and never hold the power cord with wet hands as this may cause a short circuit or electric shock. Do not place the unit itself nor any furniture or other devices onto the power cord and make sure that the cable does not become trapped. Never make knots in the cable and do not tie it together with other cords. The power cord should be positioned so that nobody can trip over it or be obstructed by it. A damaged power cord can cause a fire or an electric shock. Inspect the power cord from time to time. In case of damage, contact the nearest authorised service centre or your dealer for replacement.

SilverCrest Stereo Hi-Fi System CM-3500

Introduction

Thank you for choosing a SilverCrest product.

Via its docking station functionality, the CD-Micro Stereo Hifi System CM-3500 gives you comfortable access and control of your iPod/iPhone. In this User’s Manual we will refer to an iPod only, however the descriptions will apply to both device types. A complete list of supported devices can be found at the end of this User's Manual.

Furthermore, the device features a CD player and a PLL radio tuner. For playing back contents stored on modern storage media, a card reader for SD and MMC memory cards and a USB port for USB memory sticks are built-in. On the back panel there is an AUX connector for external audio devices. All functions can be controlled easily via the supplied remote control.

Getting Started

Connecting the Device

Speakers

The supplied speakers already feature a twin-wire audio cable. Both cables are marked with white strips on one side. The marked wires represent the positive pole of the connection clamps.

Press the grey latch (positive pole of the right speaker) of the connection clamp (22) so that the clamp opens.

Keep the latch pressed and insert the non-insulated end of the marked wire into the clamp.

Release the latch and the wire will be fixed in the clamp.

Repeat the procedure for all the other wires.

Double-check that no wire is loose by gently pulling on them. If a wire isn’t secured, repeat the above steps.

Insert two of the supplied batteries with the correct polarity into the battery compartment. Note the + and – icons on the batteries and inside the battery compartment.

Close the battery compartment.

Inserting the Backup Batteries

In order to avoid having to set the time each time you power the device off by using the On/Off button (25) or after a power failure, you can use the supplied backup batteries. This keeps the clock alive over a longer time.

Proceed as follows:

If it is still powered on, power the device off.

Open the battery compartment (24) on the back of the device.

Insert two of the supplied AAA-sized batteries into the battery compartment respecting the correct polarity. Note the + and – icons on the batteries and inside the battery compartment.

Close the battery compartment.

If you have programmed a wakeup alarm, it will also be backed up by the batteries. If a short power failure occurs at night, the system will wake you up successfully the next morning whenever backup batteries are used.
