!CAUTION FOR AC MAINS LEAD (UK, IRL only)

FOR YOUR SAFETY PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TEXT CAREFULLY

This appliance is supplied with a moulded three pin mains plug for your safety and convenience.

A 13 amp fuse is fitted in this plug.

 

 

Should the fuse need to be replaced please

ensure that the replacement fuse has rating of 13 amps

and that it is approved by

ASTA

or BSI to BS1362.

 

Check for the ASTA mark

 

or the BSI mark

 

 

on the body of the fuse.

 

 

 

 

 

 

If the plug contains a removable fuse cover you must ensure that it is refitted when the fuse is replaced. If you lose the fuse cover the plug must not be used until a replacement cover is obtained.

A replacement fuse cover can be purchased from your local Panasonic Dealer.

IF THE FITTED MOULDED PLUG IS UNSUITABLE FOR THE SOCKET OUTLET IN YOUR HOME THEN THE FUSE SHOULD BE REMOVED AND THE PLUG CUT OFF AND DISPOSED OF SAFELY.

THERE IS A DANGER OF SEVERE ELECTRICAL SHOCK IF THE CUT OFF PLUG IS INSERTED INTO ANY 13 AMP SOCKET.

If a new plug is to be fitted please observe the wiring code as shown below. If in any doubt please consult a qualified electrician.

IMPORTANT: The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: Blue : Neutral

Brown : Live

As the colours of the wire in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:

The wire which is coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter N or coloured BLACK.

The wire which is coloured BROWN must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter L or coloured RED.

Under no circumstances should either of these wires be connected to the earth terminal of the three pin plug, marked with the letter E or the Earth Symbol

How to replace the Fuse:

• There are two types of the supplied AC Mains Lead : A and B as shown below. 1 Open the fuse compartment with a screwdriver.

2 Replace the fuse and fuse cover if detachable.

!WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury:

Do not leave the vacuum cleaner plugged in to mains socket. Unplug from the socket when not in use and before cleaning the appliance or undertaking maintenance operations.

Electric shocks can occur if used outdoors or on wet surfaces.

This appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm people without supervision; young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

Do not handle plug or vacuum cleaner with wet hands.

Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair and anything that may block or reduce air flow.

Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.

Do not use without filters and / or dust compartment in place.

Turn off all controls before unplugging.

Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.

Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible materials, or others that may become so, or use in areas where they may be present.

This appliance should be serviced by an authorised Panasonic Service Centre, and only genuine Panasonic spare parts should be used.

Keep feet, fingers and hands away from the beater bar. (It may cause injury).

NOTE: These vacuum cleaners are designed for general household use only and are not suitable for use in a garage or to suck up liquids.

!CAUTIONS

1. To avoid any possible damage to the power supply cord, never run over the power supply cord or allow it to become caught in the beater bar when using the vacuum cleaner.

2. Do not run the vacuum cleaner over tassels or fringes of rugs or mats as they could get caught up in the beater bar and may cause damage to the beater bar motor.

3. Keep the vacuum cleaner away from heat sources such

as radiators, fires, direct sunlight, etc.

4) To avoid damaging the machine, never let the vacuum cleaner pick up wet matter, mud, burning ashes or large and sharp objects.

5. Do not pull on the power supply cord when disconnecting the appliance from the mains, always pull on the plug body itself.

6) To avoid injury, keep your fingers and hands away from the beater bar and never put them between the body parts.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE / OPERATE YOUR CLEANER

A) HANDLE ASSEMBLY

1) Remove the dusting brush from the handle and line the handle up with the body of the cleaner in the correct position as shown in the illustration.

NOTE: Remove the handle screw from the body first.

2) Insert the base of the handle into the top of the body of the cleaner as shown. Push in the handle and tighten the screw.

IMPORTANT: Do not over tighten the screw.

3) Re-install the dusting brush in its storage position.

Place the hose around the hose clip and push inwards to secure.

NOTE: Always place the hose direction.

B) POWER CORD RELEASE / STORAGE

1) To store the power supply cord, turn the upper cord hook in to the upright position and wind the power supply cord around the upper and lower cord hooks.

2) To release the power supply cord for instant use, turn the upper cord hook. Then fix the power supply cord into the cord clip to help secure it during use.

3) To release the power supply cord, pull it out by hand and fix it onto the cord clip in order to help secure it during use. NOTE: When in use it is advisable to pull out the full length of the power supply cord.

NOTE: To avoid any possible damage to the power supply cord, never run over the cord or allow it to become caught in the beater bar.

4) To rewind the power supply cord, press and hold the rewind button, allowing the power supply cord to be automatically rewound into the cleaner.

IMPORTANT: When rewinding the power supply cord, keep the cord/plug in one hand to avoid damaging the cleaner.
