Installation, Operation and

Maintenance Instructions

INSPECTION

When the equipment is received, all items should be checked against the bill of lading to insure all crates and cartons have been received. All units should be inspected for concealed damage by uncrating the unit immediately. If any damage is found, it should be reported to the carrier at once, and a claim should be filed with the carrier. The equipment has been inspected and tested in the Nor-Lake manufacturing facility and has been crated in accordance with transportation rules and guidelines. The manufacturer is not responsible for freight loss or damage.

INSTALLATION

CASTERS

After the packaging and shipping base have been removed, locate the casters found inside the cabinet. Attach the casters to the bottom of the cabinet using the bolts found installed in the base (four bolts /caster). The casters with the brakes should be installed in the front of the cabinet. Do not operate the unit without casters or legs installed.

CLEANING

The exterior of the cabinet and doors may have been protected with a plastic covering. Peel this protective covering before installation. After removing the covering, clean the interior and exterior surfaces of the unit with soap and water and rinse with clean water. Dry with a soft cloth. Do not use chlorinated cleaners on the cabinet as they can cause corrosion. Do not use abrasive cleaners or pads as they can scratch the surfaces.

DOOR ALIGNMENT

If the doors have come out of alignment during transit, they can be adjusted. This is accomplished by losing the screws on the door hinges, adjust the door so it is aligned properly and tighten the hinge screws. Note: the door on model ZF071 is field-reversible.

Should you require instructions for reversing the door, please contact Nor-Lake service and request the instructions (PN 150566).

SHELVES

The shelves and shelf clips are packaged inside the cabinet. Install the shelf clips on the pilasters inside the unit and set the shelves on the shelf clips. The shelves are adjustable in ½” increments.

LOCATION

The refrigeration system located in the back of the unit requires space for proper operation. In order to assure proper airflow, allow a minimum of four (4) inches on ZR cabinets and six

(6) inches on ZF cabinets of clear space on the sides and back of the cabinet.

Do not locate the unit next to heat generating equipment or in direct sunlight. Improper installation will void the warranty.

Confirm that the proposed electrical outlet has the correct voltage, frequency and current carrying capacity for the requirements of the unit. Refer to the serial plate located on the inside left wall of the cabinet for electrical information. The unit should be isolated on a circuit. Do not use an extension cord to get power to the unit. Improper electrical installations will void the warranty.

OPERATION

The lower storage section of these cabinets employ a forced air cooling system with automatic defrost. No plumbing is required for condensate water. Cooling in this section should start once the cabinet is connected to power. There is a temperature control located on the interior back wall. Turn the temperature control knob clockwise for cooler cabinet temperatures and counterclockwise for warmer cabinet temperatures. Do not block the airflow at the back of the cabinet with product as that will affect the cabinet temperature. There is a cabinet temperature indicator located behind the right hand door. Refrigerator (ZR) cabinets have an operating temperature of 32 to 41 degrees F and the freezer (ZF) cabinets have an operating temperature of -10 to +10 degrees F.

The rail section operates independently of the lower storage section. There is an on/off switch for the rail on the front right side of the rail (marked Rail Only). Use this switch to turn off the rail when not in use or to defrost the cold wall rail section. The temperature control for the rail is located behind the right side panel on the rail. To adjust the temperature of the rail, remove the rail end panel and locate the rail temperature control. Turn the temperature control clockwise for cooler rail temperatures and counterclockwise for warmer rail temperatures. Allow several hours for rail temperature adjustments. Product should be removed from the rail during extended periods of non use. The rail section is designed to keep products cool not pull them down so product loaded in the rail should be down to temperature prior to putting it in the rail section. The rail section will build up ice on the walls and should be shut off to defrost. Do not operate the rail unless it is filled completely with jars to minimize ice buildup.

MAINTENANCE

Observe all warning labels. Disconnect the power supply to the units to eliminate electrical shock and injury from moving parts when serving the unit.

CLEANING

Beginning with the initial installation, the interior surfaces of the cabinet and rail should be periodically wiped down with a solution of warm water and baking soda. This solution will remove any odors from spillage that has occurred. The exterior of the cabinet should also be cleaned frequently with a commercial stainless steel cleaner, glass cleaner or mild soap solution. Do not use chlorinated cleaners on the surfaces. Do not use abrasive pads or cleaners as they will scratch the surface.

The door gaskets should be cleaned with a mild soap solution to extend their life.

The shelving can be cleaned in a sink with a mild soap solution and a soft bristled brush.

CONDENSER COIL

Prior to cleaning the condenser coil, disconnect the unit from power. Periodic cleaning of the condenser coil will aid the heat transfer of the system and improve its efficiency. Cleaning is recommended a minimum of every six months. The condenser coil is located behind the back panel. Remove the back panel and locate the finned condenser coil. Use a soft bristled brush to remove any collected dirt or debris on the coil. Use a vacuum cleaner or compressed air to remove the loosened particles. Replace the back panel and reconnect the power. Failure to clean the condenser coil can lead to performance loss and compressor failure.
