The camera automatically changes displaying the image in the EVF or on the LCD monitor display.
The EVF's eye sensors monitor if the EVF is being used, and switches the display accordingly. The camera indicator appears at the upper-left corner in the monitors.
The image appears only on the LCD monitor display, and the EVF does not work. Even when the EVF is looked through, the display does not switch.

When opening or closing the battery chamber door, its motion is not sticking or loose. After inserting the battery, the battery is not sticking or loose. Turning the mode dial to still-image recording position activates the camera. Data panel turns ON. LCD monitor turns ON. The zoom operation is smooth. Mode changes to macro at telephoto and wideangle position. Turning the zoom ring enlarges the live­view on the LCD monitor. The diopter adjustment dial operation is not sticking. The diopter changes and the viewfinder image becomes sharp by turning the dial. The focus ring moves smoothly. MF and focus position is displayed. Turning the focus ring changes the focus position and the distance indication accordingly.

Notes
Auto power save
The camera will turn off the displays or shut down if no operation is made within a certain period.
- The LCD will turn off after 30 seconds.
- The EVF and the data panel will turn off after 60 seconds. To restore the displays, press any button or turn dials. The length of this period camera can be changed in the setup mode.
Battery condition indicator
The battery condition indicator appears on the da ta panel and monitors.
Battery icon - full: The batteries are fully charged.
Battery icon - half: The battery power is very low. Battery icon - empty and blinking: Power is insufficient for camera operation. Replace or recharge the batteries.
At replacement, remove the batteries from the body and wait for approx. 10 seconds with the
main switch/mode dial set at OFF position. Then insert new batteries or connect the specified AC adapter. If new batteries are inserted immediately after the B.C. lock warning, the camera will not be activated.

Contents of 2779 Adjustment Program CD
“2766_ADJ_USB” folder
“2766_ADJ_USB” folder contains the driver for USB device. By installing this driver, 2779 is acquired as a USB device, not a mass storage device.
If the PC is used for 2766 adjustment, the above installation is not necessary.

- 2779SADJ.exe is usable on PC equipped with Windows 2000
- 2779SADJ98.exe is usable on PC equipped with Windows98/98SE/Me
name of “2799SADJ”.
After starting up 2779SADJ.exe, “STOP” is indicated as green. If you click “STOP”, “STOP” turns red and finish updating.
At 2779SADJ98.exe “STOP” remains gray.

2779 Adjustment Program Installation
Outline
Copy the Adjustment programs from the Adjustment Program CD for 2779 to your PC. Install the dedicated USB driver included in this CD to the hard drive. Be sure to follow the procedure below to install the USB driver. The procedure differs from the one described in the instruction manual.
Equipment Required
Computer: IBM PC/AT compatible wih Windows98, Windows98 Second Edition, Windows 2000 Professional, or Windows Me pre-installed (Equipped with USB port) Adjustment Program CD for 2779
Procedure
1. Insert the Adjustment Program CD for 2779 into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Double-click on the “2779 ADJ” folder.
4. Copy “2766_ADJ_USB“ and “Win2000” or “Win98_Me” folder to your computer.
5. Copy “uusbd.dll” and “uusbd.exp” to C :\Windows\system\.
6. Connect the camera to the computer via USB cable and set to Adjustment mode. Refer to Camera and PC Preparation. (pg. 6)
7. Add NEW Hardware Wizard will appear.
8. Choose “Specify a location” in the dialog and select “uusbd.sys” in “2779_ADJ_USB “ folder. When the driver is installed completely, disconnect the camera and restart the computer.
If the PC is used for 2766 adjustment, the above step 5 and after is not necessary.
Check
1. Connect the camera to the computer with USB cable.
2. Set the camera in Adjustment mode.
3. After setting the camera in Adjustment mode, open the Device Manager window.
Confirm the “Universal USB Driver (Adjust) “ is listed under “UUSBD USB Device” as shown in Fig. 1.

Camera and PC Preparation
Outline
The Adjustment mode is a condition that the camera is connected to the computer with USB cable to be accessible through 2779 Adjustment Program.
Equipment Required
PC (IBM PC/AT Compatible Computer) with 2779 Adjustment Program installed. AC-1L or AC-2L USB-100 (USB Cable) Before getting started, remove the batteies from the camera. Use AC Adapter.
Setting the Camera in Adjustment Mode
Use one of the following 2 methods to set the camera in Adjustment mode. a) For use without the exterior parts removed
1. Connect the camera to the computer with USB cable.
2. Turn the mode dial to “SETUP” position.
3. Press the function and digital-effects buttons simultaneously and plug the AC adapter to the camera. The camera changes to Ajustment mode when the self-timer lamp glows.
4. When usig the 2779 Adjustment program, set the camera in recording mode.
b) For use with BACK COVER ASSY removed
1. Connect the camera to the computer with USB cable.

2. Short-circuit the terminal-120 and 121 on MAIN PCB ASSY with tweezers and plug the AC adapter to
the camera.
3. The live image briefly appears on the LCD monitor, and then freezes in a few seconds after connecting

Whenever performing LCD Monitor Adjustment, remove BACK COVER ASSY.

Instruction for 2779 Firmware Installation
Creating 2779 Firmware Installer Card
1. Use the SanDisk CompactFlash Card (4MB or greater capacity) as installer card.
2. Delete all files and programs from the installer card. Otherwise, the installation will fail.
4. Insert the 2779 Adjustment Program CD to the computer.
5. Double-click on the 2779 Firmware folder, and then copy “Dsc.app” and “Ram.bin” to the installer card.
2779 Firmware Installation
1. Turn the mode dial to “OFF” position.
2. Insert the installer card to the card-slot of the camera.
3. Plug the AC adapter to the camera or insert the fresh batteries. Make sure AC adapter is firmly con­nected to camera or battery chamber door is tightly closed.
4. Press and hold the shutter release button and then turn the mode dial to recording mode.
5. Release the buttons when the access lamp is glows.
6. Make sure that the access lamp is off, then turn the mode dial to “OFF” position, and remove the installer card from the camera.
Never unplug the AC adapter or open the battery chamber door while the access lamp is glowing. When using batteries, always use a fresh set of batteries.
Firmware Version Readout
1. Turn the mode dial to “SETUP” position, and then press the digital-subject-program button.
2. The designated readout screen appears on the LCD monitor. To cancel the readout screen, press the center of the controller.

Destination
The suffix “j”, ”u”, and “e” is added to the version number to distinguish the destination. The “j” stands for Japan, “u” for North America, and “e” for Europe. Also the safety standard (EMC) mark is different according to destination. Note: Be sure to confirm the edition (destination) before updating the firmware.
The main PCB with firmware ver. 079 employs two types of ROM (16MB and 32 MB).
“u” or “e” : Both 16MB and 32 MB are usable.
“j” : Only 32MB is usable.

Be sure to modify Chart Stand for 2779 measurement before starting adjustment. The following change should be done on Chart Stand . Before using Chart Stand for 2757 and 2765, be sure to restore it as it originally was.

CCD Position Adjustment

Outline
This item is to adjust CCD position and inclination. To perform the CCD position Adjustment, the chart stand and its accompanying equipment are essential.
Equipment Required
Chart Stand 2766 Base Chart Stand Backboard LB Adjustment Chart Fluorescent Stand SQ967W USB-100 AC-1L or AC-2L PC (IBM PC/AT Compatible Computer) with 2779 Adjustment Program installed Hexagon Screwdriver or Hexagon Bar Wrench

Preparation
1. Remove BACK COVER ASSY (0132) from the body.
2. Remove MONITOR LCD ASSY (0460) from the body.
3. Remove LCD LIGHT SHIELD SHEET (1330) from the body.
4. Remove the adhesive from CCD ADJUSTMENT SCREWs.
5. Fasten three CCD ADJUSTMENT SCREWs until they stop.
6. Evenly loosen three CCD ADJUSTMENT SCREWs by one turn and three quarters.
7. Install BACK COVER ASSY (0132) to the body.
8. Set LB Adjustment Chart to Chart Stand.
9. Light up the chart evenly with a Fluorescent lamp during the Adjustment.
10. Fasten the tripod screw to secure the camera.
11. Set the LB Adjustment ChartⅡ 1.67m+/-3mm apart from the CCD.

12. Start “2779Adj.exe”.
13. Connect the camera to the computer with USB cable and set to Adjustment mode.

12. Confirm the “C” reading is within the standard.
Standard: C=1044 to 1194
The “C” reading is less than 1044: Evenly loosen three CCD ADJUSTMENT SCREWs. The “C” reading is more than 1194: Evenly fasten three CCD ADJUSTMENT SCREWs.
13. Click “Retry” to measure the “C” reading.
Repeat step-12 and -13 until the “C” reading is within the standard.
14. Confirm the “dPI” reading is within the standard.

6. Press the function and digital-effects buttons simultaneously and turn on the output switch of DC Power Supply.
7. Turn the mode dial to recording mode to start in Adjustment mode.
8. Start “2779SADJ.exe”.
Adjustment
1. Click “B.C.ADJ.” on the screen.
2. According to the screen, set DC Power Supply to 4.4V.
3. Click “OK” on the screen.
4. “OK” appears on the screen when the Adjustment is completed.

Data Copy

Outline
Data copy enables you to skip some adjustment ot check items at MAIN PCB assy (0402)/FPC assy (0433) replacement. Please pay attention to the following instructions.
- After completion of DATA READ, save "copydata" and "copydataEep" to the disk where the Adjust­ment program for 2779 installed.
- You can exit 2779 adjustment program after reading the data.
- The saved data will be overwritten by every DATA READ.
- The saved data remains until being deleted and can be overwritten over and over.
- Please note that if you perform DATA WRITE on other body, the different data data will be written.
Equipment Required
PC (IBM PC/AT Compatible Computer) with 2779 Adjustment Program Installed. USB-100 AC-1L/AC-2L
Procedure of Data “READ”
1. Click “DATA COPY”.
2. Click “Data READ” (Fig.1).
3. Click “OK” (Fig.2).
4. Click “OK” (Fig.1).
5. Click “STOP”, and exit 2779 Adjustment Program.
Procedure of Data “WRITE”
1. Click “DATE COPY”.
2. Click “DATA WRITE” (Fig.1).
3. Click “OK” (Fig.2).
4. Click “OK” (Fig.1).
5. Click “STOP”, and exit the 2779 Adjustment Program.
Camera Clock Setting
Equipment Required
USB-100 AC-1L or AC-2L PC (IBM PC/AT Compatible Computer) with 2779 Adjustment Program installed
Preparation
1. Set the Date/Time inside the computer correctly.
2. Start “2779SADJ.exe”.

INFORMATION
How to set up the camera and chart when using a tripod for CCD position adjustment.
Equipment Required
Tripod 2766 LB Adjustment Chart II
Setup Camera and Chart
1. Make a marking at the center of 2766 LB Adjustment Chart II. (Fig. 1)
2. Set 2766 LB Adjustment Chart on the wall .
3. Check at the intersection point where the perpendicular line from the center of the chart meets the floor face. (Fig.2)
4. Draw a line or stick a measure on the floor by the angle of 90 degrees toward the 2766 LB Adjustment Chart II.
5. Adjust the height of the center of 2766 LB Chart II and that of lens of the camera. (Fig.2)
6. Adjust the line of floor and the lens center, and set up the distance between CCD face and 2766 LB Chart II at 1670 +/- 3mm.
7. Turn on the camera.
8. Look through EVF, and adjust the camera so that the center of the chart aligns with the center of the image on EVF. Zoom to equal the space between 2766 LB Chart IIand EVF. (Fig.3) Fasten the CCD holder adjustment 3 screws until they stop.
9. Complete the setup of the camera and the chart if the 5, 6, 8 are all done.

Preparation
1. Use two 4MB or more of “SanDisk” CF cards as installer card.
2. Delete all the files and programs in these cards.
3. Copy “dsc.adj” and “ram.bin” files in “Initialization” folder of the CD to one of the CF card. (“Initialization” card) (This procedure is necessary for 2779-0463/2779-0402, but not necessary for 2779-0432/2779-0412.)
4. Copy “dsc.app”, “dsc.boo”, and “ram.bin” in “Firmware” folder to the other CF card. (“Firmware” card)
Procedure
a. Main PCB assy replaced.
Write with both CF cards. (“Initialization” card is necessary for 2779-0463/2779-0402, but not necessary for 2779-0432/2779-0412.) For details, see the firmware installation instruction on p.7 Repair Guide. If you have performed Data Copy , you do not have to write the files in “Initialization” card. Notes: Adjustment values will be reset to default setting by writing the “Initialization” card. In this case, be sure to adjust the camera by following to the Adjustments and checks required after repair on p.2 Repair Guide.
b. Main PCB assy not replaced.
Write with the files in the “Firmware” card. For details, see the firmware installation instruction on p.7 Repair Guide.
