This Owner’s Manual is only for vehicles equipped with "Drive Kit Plus for iPhone

". This Owner’s Manual provides the most accurate information about the proper operation of the "Drive Kit Plus for iPhone

" for use in combination with an Audio 20 or COMAND system.

For safety reasons, please read this Owner’s Manual and became familiar with the proper operation of the "Drive Kit Plus for iPhone

" prior to operation of your

Operating safety

When operating the "Drive Kit Plus for iPhone

", the legal requirements for the country/ state in which you are currently driving must be observed.

While the vehicle is in motion, some functions are only available in restricted form. Information about this is available at

The following iPhone® models can be used with the "Drive Kit Plus for iPhone

models was correct at the time the Owner's Manual went to press. An authorized Mercedes-Benz Dealer is able to provide information about the compatibility of new iPhone

models.

These models will be referred to as iPhone

within this Manual.

G WARNING

Your attention must always be focused on the traffic conditions. Only use the "Drive Kit Plus for iPhone

" when the traffic conditions permit. Operating the "Drive Kit Plus for iPhone

" could distract you from the traffic conditions and cause you to lose control of your vehicle. This could result in an accident.

Bear in mind that, at a speed of 30 mph (50 km/h), your vehicle covers a distance of 44 feet (14 m) per second.

"Drive Kit Plus for iPhone

This Owner's Manual refers to the Audio 20 or COMAND Operator's Manual and to the iPhone

Manual. The Owner's

Manual must be kept on hand. For information on operating the iPhone

outside the vehicle, see the iPhone

Manual. It is recommended that the latest software

version is installed on the iPhone

Manual.

For optimum sound quality and to avoid volume fluctuations, the use of iTunes

is recommended for converting CDs. The equalizer on the iPhone

should be

switched off; see the iPhone

Manual.

The battery of the connected iPhone

is charged via the "Drive Kit Plus for iPhone

" as soon as the ignition is

switched on. The iPhone

is not designed to withstand the extreme temperatures that occur inside a parked vehicle and may be damaged as a result. Therefore, it is advised not to leave the iPhone

in a parked vehicle.

External influences (e.g. fluctuations in the coverage of a mobile network) can cause short-term image interference.

Problem-free use

Conditions for use

A valid mobile service contract with a data plan is required to invoice for any connection costs accrued.

Connection difficulties while the vehicle is in motion

The connection may be lost if:

앫 there is insufficient network coverage

in certain areas.

앫 you move from one mobile communica-

tions cell to another and no data channels are free.

앫 a SIM card is used that is not

compatible with the network available.

Function restrictions

In the following situations, the telephony and Internet services may no longer be available, or you may have to wait before they become available:

앫 if the iPhone

is switched off.

앫 if the iPhone

is not logged into a

mobile phone network.

Roaming

Roaming enables you to automatically switch between mobile phone networks, for example when crossing borders.

! Automatically switching between

mobile phone networks can result in high roaming charges. For more information, contact your mobile network provider.

Roaming can be activated/deactivated on the iPhone

If roaming is deactivated, there is only limited access to certain functions of the "Drive Kit Plus for iPhone

" when driving in

roaming areas.

Preparation

Installing the "Digital DriveStyle App"

To use the "Drive Kit Plus for iPhone

", the "Digital DriveStyle App" must first be installed on the iPhone

i Map data for navigation can be

installed using the "Digital DriveStyle App". Later installation of map data is also possible. It is recommended that the "Digital DriveStyle App" and additional map data are installed when the iPhone

is logged into a

WLAN.

왘 Open the App Store on the iPhone

왘 Select the "Digital DriveStyle App" and

install it on the iPhone

Setting up the "Digital DriveStyle App"

In the "Digital DriveStyle App":

앫 access data, e.g. for Facebook, can be

stored,

앫 maps for navigation can be installed

and

앫 further information can be viewed.

i The "Drive Kit Plus for iPhone

" adopts

the language setting of the iPhone

if the language is supported by the "Digital DriveStyle App".

Preparing your iPhone

To use the telephone function of the iPhone

, it is recommended to set up a

Bluetooth

connection between the Audio 20 or COMAND system and the iPhone

! Please ensure that you do not estab-

lish a connection to Bluetooth

Audio; see the operating instructions for Audio 20 or COMAND. If the iPhone

is connected to

Bluetooth

Audio then audio playback is not possible via the "Drive Kit Plus for the iPhone

Care must be taken to ensure that, when connecting the iPhone

;

앫 Automatic locking is deactivated. 앫 The code lock is deactivated. 앫 The Home Screen is displayed and

no other Apps are running in the foreground.

앫 Flight mode is deactivated.

If the iPhone

is connected to the "Drive

Kit Plus for iPhone

" when the keylock is active, the "iPodOut" menu appears. This is a standard feature of the iPhone

which

enables media playback.

Connecting/disconnecting your iPhone

왘 Open the glove box or stowage

compartment of the center console

G WARNING

Only connect and disconnect the iPhone

when the vehicle is stationary. Otherwise, there is the possibility that you will be distracted from the traffic conditions and could cause an accident.
