Congratulations on purchasing your new child seat. Please familiarize yourself with your child seat before using it for the first time. Take the time to read through these operating instructions carefully.
The operating instructions assist you in understanding the functions of your child seat while also providing you with important information on safely installing and using it.
Proper care of your new child seat is important for the safety of the child.
An approved Mercedes-Benz Center will be happy to provide you with assistance and advice at any time.

Use of seat belts and child seats is legally prescribed in:
^
all 50 states
^
the U.S. territories
^
the District of Columbia
^
all Canadian provinces
For better protection of children under
12 years of age and under 59 inches
(1.50 m) in height, Mercedes-Benz
recommends you observe the following
information:
^
Only secure children using a suitable child
seat which is appropriate to the size, age and
weight of the child and which is
recommended for Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
In doing so, observe the instructions for
using the child seat correctly.
^
If possible, install the child seat on a rear
seat.
^
Observe the warning labels in the vehicle
interior and on the child seat.
G DANGER!
In this child seat, transport only children
whose age and body weight correspond to
those of the approval data. When the child
seat is installed in the vehicle, make sure
that the vehicle's seat backrest is adjusted
and locked in place according to the
description in the vehicle Operator's
Manual (on vehicles with a folding
backrest, through-loading facility, etc.).
In the event of an accident, abrupt braking maneuvers or a sudden change in direction, the child may otherwise not be restrained and may be seriously or even fatally injured.
G DANGER!
Make sure that the child seat is installed
correctly. In the event of an accident,
abrupt braking maneuver or a sudden
change in direction, the child seat may
otherwise become detached, and the child
and/or vehicle occupants may be seriously
or even fatally injured. You must therefore:
^
install the child seat in the vehicle facing
towards the rear.
^
make sure that the seat belts on the
child seat are pulled tight across the
child's body and are not twisted.
^
make sure that the seat belt or LATCH is
pulled tight across the child seat and is
not twisted.
^
make sure that a front airbag can have
no effect on the child seat.
^
make sure that there are no objects, e.g.
cushions, under the child seat.
^
make sure that the entire base of the child
seat always rests on the seat cushion.
^
make sure that the vehicle belt buckle is
not located in the blue seat belt guide.
^
make sure that the seat belt is routed
from the blue seat belt guide towards the
rear (against the direction of travel).
^
also install unused child seats correctly.
G DANGER!
This poses an increased risk of injury or even fatal injury.
^
Only children with a weight of up to
22 pounds (10 kg) and who measure up
to 31 inches (80 cm) in height are
allowed to travel in this child seat.
^
Be sure to observe the content of these
operating instructions as well as the
warning labels in the vehicle interior and
on the child seat.

The child seat may only be used in the front passenger seat if the front passenger airbag has been disabled and the "PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF" indicator lamp is illuminated.
In order for the front passenger airbag to be disabled,

the vehicle and the child seat must be
equipped with automatic child seat
recognition (ACSR).
or
^
the vehicle must be equipped with the
Occupant Classification System (OCS).
If the front passenger airbag is not disabled, the child could be severely or fatally injured by the front passenger airbag if it is deployed in the event of an accident.
Only install the child seat in a suitable rear seat if this is the case.
G DANGER!
Your attention must always be focused on
the traffic conditions. No adjustments
must be made to the child seat while the
vehicle is motion, as this may otherwise
result in an accident or in the child, other
vehicle occupants or other road users
potentially being put at risk.
This poses an increased risk of injury or even fatal injury.
G WARNING
An infant with a low birth weight may be particularly susceptible during transport in the vehicle. We recommend that you consult your doctor before you and your child leave the hospital.
G WARNING
When using the child seat in the rear
passenger compartment, make sure that
the front seat is only moved so far back
that it does not touch the child seat. Adjust
the front seat backrest as described in the
vehicle Operator's Manual. Otherwise, the
child could be injured in the event of an
accident or abrupt braking maneuver.
To reduce the risk of injury to vehicle occupants in the front, they must select a seat position that is as far away from the airbag as possible. The driver must also make sure that their seat position enables them to drive the vehicle safely.
G WARNING
Child seats which have been damaged or subjected to a load during an accident cannot perform their intended protective function.
A child cannot therefore be restrained in the event of another accident, braking maneuver or sudden change of direction. This poses an increased risk of injury or even fatal injury.

Replace child seats that have been
damaged or subjected to a load during
an accident immediately.
^
Have the vehicle seat belt checked
immediately at a qualified specialist
workshop before a child seat is installed
again.
General notes

G DANGER!
Do not make any modifications to the child
seat and the vehicle seat belt. Never
lubricate or grease parts on the child seat.
Never use the child seat without the seat
cover. Use an original Mercedes-Benz seat
cover, since it is an integral part of the
child seat and its statutory approval.
Approval is invalidated as soon as you
make modifications to the child seat.
Modifications to the child seat may lead to
the child not being secured sufficiently
and, particularly in the event of an
accident, abrupt braking maneuvers or a
sudden change in direction, the child may
not be restrained and may be seriously or
even fatally injured.
When using the child seat on the front passenger seat, be sure to observe the notes in your vehicle Operator's Manual in addition to the following points:
^
Move the front passenger seat as far back
as possible.
^
Fully retract the seat cushion length.
^
The base of the child seat must always rest
completely on the seat cushion of the front
passenger seat.
^
Never place objects under or behind the
child restraint system, e.g. a cushion.

Caution When securing the child seat with the vehicle seat belt, always make sure that the seat belt is not routed over sharp, pointed or fragile objects The seat belt could otherwise be damaged.
Approval
Only children with a weight of up to
22 pounds (10 kg) and who measure up to
31 inches (80 cm) in height are allowed to
travel in this child seat. Restrain the child
with the belts of the child seat.
This child seat meets all applicable requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
Confirmation that the child seat corresponds to the standards can be found on an instruction label on the child seat.
The child seat is not approved for use in airplanes, as the attachment of the child seat in aircraft has not been tested.
The child seat is exclusively approved for fastening with the vehicle seat belt or the supplied LATCH.
Approval is invalidated as soon as you make modifications to the child seat. Only the manufacturer may make modifications.
The child seat may only be used for securing your child in the vehicle. It is in no way suitable for use as a seat outside of the vehicle or as a toy.
Use in the vehicle
Please observe the notes in your vehicle Operator's Manual on using the child seat.
Your child seat can be used as follows:
You should preferably install the child seat in
the rear passenger compartment on one of
the outer seats. Accident statistics show that
children secured in a suitable child seat on
one of the rear seats are safer than children
secured on the front passenger seat.
Please observe the requirements for the state you are currently in.

The seat belt must be approved in
accordance with ECE R 16 or FMVSS 209 (or
comparable standard), recognizable by the
„E“, „e“ marking on the approval label on the
seat belt.

The vehicle seat must be equipped with LATCH-type (ISOFIX) securing rings. LATCH = Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren

The use of a 2-point seat belt considerably increases the risk of injury to your child in the event of an accident.

Do not use a child seat in the front passenger seat if the front passenger airbag is not deactivated.
Vehicles with automatic child seat recognition (ACSR)
If it is absolutely necessary to carr y a child on the front passenger seat, be sure to observe the information on automatic child seat recognition (ACSR) in your vehicle Operator's Manual.
The child seat is equipped with two transponders that switch off the front passenger airbag when used on a front passenger seat equipped with an ACSR system.
Special transmitters (ACSR = Automatic Child Seat Recognition) can locate these transponders.
If you use the child seat on a front passenger seat equipped with an ACSR system, the car will recognize it and the front passenger airbag will be automatically deactivated.
In the vehicle, the PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp is illuminated and indicates that the front passenger airbag is deactivated.

Classification System (OCS)
If it is absolutely necessary to carry a child on the front passenger seat, be sure to observe the information on the Occupant Classification System (OCS) in your vehicle Operator's Manual.
There you will also find information on deactivating the front passenger airbag.
When the Occupant Classification System (OCS) is malfunctioning, the red 6 restraint system warning lamp in the instrument cluster and the PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp light up simultaneously. The front passenger airbag is deactivated in this case and does not deploy during an accident. Have the Occupant Classification System (OCS) checked and repaired immediately at a qualified specialist workshop. Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.
Do not use a child seat on the front passenger seat if there is a malfunction in the Occupant Classification System (OCS).

simultaneously pull shoulder belts 2 as
far forward as possible, then release
adjustment button 1.

Before you place the child in the child seat,
make sure that the child seat is positioned
securely and cannot tip over. Make
adjustments to the head restraint of the
child seat when it has been removed from
the vehicle only with the help of a second
person in order to avoid the child seat
tipping over with a child in it.
The child may be injured if the child restraint system tips over.
A correctly adjusted head restraint provides optimum support and protection for your child in the child seat.
By adjusting the head restraint, the inclination of the backrest is simultaneously adjusted to suit the child's age.

2. Tilt head restraint 3 forwards out of the
catch, push it to the desired height and
press it back into the catch.
Caution Adjust the head restraint so that the shoulder belts are at the height of the child's shoulders or slightly below.

The protective function of the child seat installed in the vehicle is only guaranteed if the carrying handle is in position A.
Make sure that the child seat is installed
correctly. In the event of an accident,
abrupt braking maneuver or a sudden

Sun shade
The sun shade protects your child's head from intensive sunlight (SPF 50). It can easily be folded in and out using the shade bracket.

Fold the sun shade back to secure the
child in the child seat.
G DANGER!
Always secure the child in the child seat using the child seat belts. Make sure that the seat belts on the child seat are pulled tight across the child's body and are not twisted.
If the child is incorrectly restrained in the child seat or is not restrained at all, in the event of an accident, abrupt braking maneuver or a sudden change in direction, the child may not be restrained and may be seriously or fatally injured.
G DANGER!
Persons – especially children – could be seriously or even fatally injured as a result of prolonged exposure to extreme heat or cold! Never leave persons – especially children – unsupervised in the vehicle.
G WARNING
If you leave children unsupervised in the vehicle, they could set it in motion, for example by:
^
releasing the parking brake
^
shifting the automatic transmission out
of park position P
^
starting the engine.
In addition, they might operate vehicle equipment and become trapped. There is a risk of accident and injury.
When leaving the vehicle, always take the SmartKey with you and lock the vehicle. Never leave children unsupervised in the vehicle.

If the child seat is exposed to direct sunlight, parts could heat up. Children could suffer burns on these parts, particularly on metallic parts of the child seat. There is a risk of injury.
If you and your child leave the vehicle,
always make sure that the child seat is not
exposed to direct sunlight. Protect it, e.g.
with a blanket. If the child seat has been
exposed to direct sunlight, allow it to cool
before securing a child in it. Never leave
children unsupervised in the vehicle.
Caution Before you place the child in the child seat, make sure that the child seat is positioned securely and cannot tip over.
Caution Never let your child out of sight in the child seat when placing it on raised surfaces (e. g. changing table, table ...).
Take your child out of the child seat as often as possible and relieve the child's spine. Make longer journeys easier by taking breaks. Also remember not to leave your child in the child seat for too long outside the car.

7. Pull on adjustment belt 9 to tighten the
belts. Make sure that the belts fit snugly
across the child's body.

under the seat shell.
G WARNING
Make sure that the adjustment belt does not hang down.
The adjustment belt could be caught while
carrying the child seat (e.g. in elevator
doors). This can cause the shoulder belt to
be tightened unintentionally and cause
serious or fatal injury to your child.

Make sure that the seat belts on the child seat run straight and are not sagging. They must neither cut into the child's flesh nor force the child's body into an unnatural position.

the head restraint and the child seat belts
are correctly adjusted.
^
the belts on the child seat are not twisted.
^
the belt tongues are engaged in the belt
buckle.
^
the belts on the child seat fit snugly across
the body without restricting the child.

the lap belts are as low as possible over
the child's groin.

G WARNING
Make sure that:
^
the seat backrests are locked in place
(e.g. folding rear bench seat engaged).
^
all heavy and sharp-edged objects are
secured in the vehicle (e.g. on the parcel
shelf).
^
all vehicle occupants have their seat
belts fastened.
^
even an unused child seat is correctly
installed in the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, abrupt braking maneuver or a sudden change in direction, unsecured objects or persons could injure other vehicle occupants.

The seat belt must not be passed through between the child seat and the belts of the child seat.
Otherwise the child is not secured correctly and, in the event of an accident, abrupt braking maneuver or a sudden change in direction, the child may be seriously or fatally injured.
G DANGER!
The seat belt must be pulled tight and must
not be twisted. If the seat belt of the child
seat is incorrectly secured or is not
secured at all, in the event of an accident,
abrupt braking maneuver or a sudden
change in direction, the child may
otherwise not be restrained and may be
seriously or fatally injured.

Caution Using child seats may result in wear marks on some vehicle seat covers made from sensitive materials (e.g. velour, leather, etc.).
Caution When installing and removing child seats, make sure that the vehicle interior is not damaged.
Caution When installing the child seat, make sure that the seat belt for the center seat in the vehicle does not get trapped. Otherwise, the seat belt could be damaged.

Note: The extended D-SIP
serves as additional accident protection in the event of a side impact. Never use it to carry or secure the child seat.
Checklist for correct installation
For the safety of your child, check before each journey that:

the child seat is installed against the
direction of travel.

the child seat is only attached to the front
passenger seat if no front passenger
airbag can act on the child seat.
^
the child seat is secured in the vehicle with
a 3-point seat belt as described above.
