Wichtige Sicherheitshinweise
•Lesen Sie die Gebrauchsanweisung vor dem ersten Gebrauch aufmerksam durch und benutzen Sie das Gerät nur so, wie in der Gebrauchsanweisung beschrieben.
•Gerät von Kindern fernhalten. Netzkabel nicht herunterhängen lassen.
•Gerät nur an Wechselstrom anschließen. Die auf dem Typenschild angegebene Netzspannung (230-240V) muß mit der des Stromnetzes übereinstimmen.
•Das Gerät ist nur für den Haushaltsgebrauch vorgesehen und darf nur in geschlossenen Räumen benutzt werden.
•Benutzen Sie den Glaskrug nicht in Mikrowellengeräten, nicht auf offener Flamme und nicht auf Herdplatten.
•Kein Wasser in das heiße Gerät nachfüllen (ca. 10 Min. abkühlen lassen)
•Kein heißes Wasser oder andere Flüssigkeiten in den Wasserbehälter füllen.
•Gerät nicht auf heißen Flächen (z.B. Herdplatte) abstellen oder auf bzw. in der Nähe offener Flammen benutzen.

•Bei Störungen während des Brühvorgangs und vor jeder Reinigung oder Pflege muß der Netzstecker gezogen werden.
•Den Stecker nicht an der Leitung aus der Steckdose ziehen.
•Das Netzkabel nicht über Ecken und Kanten legen oder hängen.
•Vermeiden Sie, daß das Netzkabel oder Sie selbst heiße Geräteteile berühren.
•Das Gerät nicht ins Wasser tauchen.
•Benutzen Sie Ihr Gerät nicht, falls es nicht ordnungsgemäß funktioniert oder beschädigt wurde. Wenden Sie sich in diesem Fall an den KRUPS Kundendienst (siehe Verzeichnis der Servicestellen.)
•Das Gerät darf nicht geöffnet werden. Im Schadensfall an den KRUPS Kundendienst senden.
•Benutzen Sie das Gerät nicht ,wenn das Netzkabel oder der Stecker beschädigt sind. Diese Teile müssen vom KRUPS Kundendienst ausgetauscht werden, da hierzu Spezialwerkzeuge notwendig sind. (siehe Verzeichnis der Servicestellen)
•Entkalkungshinweise beachten.
•Benutzen Sie zu Ihrer eigenen Sicherheit nur KRUPS Zubehör und Ersatzteile, die zu Ihrem Gerät gehören.

Bedienung
•Vor der ersten Kaffeezubereitung 1 bis 2 Durchläufe ohne Kaffeemehl durchführen und anschließend den Glaskrug und den Aktiv-Filter heiß ausspülen.
•Deckel aufklappen (1).
•Gewünschte Wassermenge einfüllen (2). Maximal bis zur 10 Tassen-Markierung der Wasserstandsanzeige einfüllen.
•Die Einteilung auf dem Glaskrug und an der Wasserstandsanzeige gelten für die Frischwassermenge (3).
•Die spätere Kaffeemenge ist etwas geringer, da das Kaffeemehl Wasser aufsaugt.
•Deckel schließen
•Schwenkfilter ausschwenken (4).
•Einen Papierfilter Nr. 4 (1x4) an den geriffelten Seiten umknicken (5). Papierfilter in den Aktiv-Filter einsetzen und mit der Hand leicht andrücken.
•Kaffeemehl einfüllen (6). Die Menge des Kaffeemehls kann mit einem Kaffeemaß abgemessen werden. Für einen mittelstarken Kaffee einen Meßlöffel (ca. 6-7g pro Tasse). Die Kaffeemenge kann je nach persönlichem Geschmack mehr oder weniger betragen.
•Schwenkfilter einschwenken, bis er einrastet
(7) und den Glaskrug mit Deckel auf die Warmhalteplatte stellen.
•Gerät einschalten. Dazu den EIN-/AUS- Schalter auf Position «I» stellen (8). Die Kontrolleuchte zeigt die Betriebsbereitschaft an.
Hinweis: Ihr Kaffeeautomat AromaControl ist mit dem KRUPS AktivFilter ausgestattet.
Zu Beginn des Brühvorganges verzögert der Aktiv-Filter den Auslauf des Kaffees. So bleibt das heiße Wasser anfangs länger in Kontakt mit dem Kaffeemehl, um einen optimalen Aufguß zu erzielen.
Nach etwa 1-2 Minuten öffnet der Aktiv-Filter vollständig und gibt den Kaffeeauslauf in den Glaskrug frei.
- Das Tropfstop-System ermöglicht es, den Glaskrug auch während des Durchlaufes kurz
zu entnehmen, um eine Tasse vorab auszugießen.
•Stellen Sie den Glaskrug bald in das Gerät zurück, um ein Überlaufen des Filters zu vermeiden.
Achtung! Während des Brühvorgangs nie den Filter ausschwenken.
•Glaskrug zur Warmhaltung auf die Warmhalteplatte zurückstellen (9).
- IHR KAFFEEAUTOMAT (ART. 176/180) IST MIT EINER AUTOMATISCHEN ENDABSCHALTUNG
AUSGESTATTET. Die Warmhaltung schaltet nach 2 Stunden automatisch ab.
Das Gerät kann auch vorzeitig ausgeschaltet werden. Hierzu den Schalter in die Position „0“ bringen.
-IHR KAFFEEAUTOMAT (ART. 180) IST MIT EINEM TIMER AUSGESTATTET. Er dient Ihnen
-als Uhr
-zum Programmieren einer automatischen Kaffeezubereitung bis zu 24 Stunden im voraus
-als automatische Endabschaltung nach 2 Stunden
•Netzstecker einstecken: die Anzeige im Display blinkt.
- Einstellen der Uhr
•Drehen Sie den Funktionswähler in die Position 
.
•Drücken sie die Taste h (j), um die Stunden einzustellen.
•Drücken Sie die Taste min (k), um die Minuten einzustellen.
- Funktion manuelles Einschalten
•Drehen Sie den Funktionswähler (m) auf Position „I“ (Ein).
•Die Kontrolleuchte (l) leuchtet auf.
•Drehen sie den Funktionswähler (m) auf Position „0“ zurück, um das Gerät nach dem Gebrauch auszuschalten.
- Funktion automatisches Einschalten
Um die Uhrzeit einzustellen, zu der die Kaffeezubereitung beginnen soll,
•drehen Sie den Funktionswähler (m) auf Position „prog“: das Symbol 
in der Anzeige blinkt.

•drücken Sie die Taste h (j) ,um die Stunden einzustellen

blinkt weiterhin : Ihr Kaffeeautomat ist programmiert.
Zum programmierten Zeitpunkt leuchtet die Kontrolleuchte auf, um den Betrieb anzuzeigen und das Symbol 
in der Anzeige leuchtet konstant.
Achtung: Falls Sie den Wahlschalter in der Position „auto“ belassen, schaltet sich Ihr Kaffeeautomat jeden Tag zum programmierten Zeitpunkt ein. Sie können jederzeit die Programmierung löschen oder den Durchlauf unterbrechen, indem Sie den Funktionswähler (m) auf die Position „0“ drehen.
Pflege
. Entkalkung
Um langfristig ein gutes Kaffee-Ergebnis zu garantieren, muß der Kaffeeautomat von Zeit zu Zeit entkalkt werden. Erkennbare Anzeichen für eine erforderliche Entkalkung sind:
-verstärkte Kochgeräusche
-längere Zubereitungszeit
Bei häufiger Benutzung sollte folgendermaßen entkalkt werden:
. bei weichem Wasser
7° dH (0-1,24mol/m3) : |
1 x pro Jahr |
. bei mittlerer Härte
7-14° dH (1,24-2,5 mol/m3) : 1/4 jährlich
. bei hartem Wasser
ab 14° dH (2,5-3,75 mol/m3) : monatlich
Im Zweifelsfall die Wasserhärte beim örtlichen Wasserwerk nachfragen.
Wir empfehlen aus ökologischen und gesundheitlichen Gesichtspunkten ausschließlich biologische Mittel, wie Zitronensäure oder Weinsteinsäure (in Drogerien und Apotheken erhältlich).

2 Eßl. in einem halben Liter Wasser auflösen und in den Wasserbehälter gießen.
•Die Hälfte der Lösung durchlaufen lassen und das Gerät ausschalten
•Die restliche Lösung etwa eine Stunde im Gerät einwirken lassen.
•Das Gerät wieder einschalten und die restliche Lösung durchlaufen lassen.
•Führen Sie dann 2 bis 3 Durchläufe mit klarem Wasser (max. Wassermenge, ohne Kaffeemehl) durch, um das Gerät durchzuspülen.
Reinigung
•Vor der Reinigung stets den Netzstecker ziehen.
•Den Kaffeeautomaten nur mit einem feuchten Tuch abwischen.
•Das Gerät niemals unter fließendes Wasser halten.
•Glaskrug und Krugdeckel können in der Spülmaschine gereinigt werden.
•Zum Entleeren und Reinigen des Aktiv-Filters (d), nehmen Sie diesen aus dem Schwenkfilter heraus (10).
•Um eine gute Funktion des Aktiv-Filters
(d) zu gewährleisten, nehmen Sie diesen niemals auseinander, sondern reinigen Sie ihn einfach unter fließendem Wasser (nicht in der Spülmaschine).
. Kabelstaufach
Das nicht benötigte Kabel kann auf der Unterseite des Gerätes im Kabelstaufach untergebracht werden (11).
Zubehör
. Original Krups Glaskrug (Art. 268) und
Krups GoldTone Permanentfilter (Art. 053) sind im Fachhandel erhältlich.

Important : For your convenience this appliance is supplied complete with a plug incorporating a 13 amp fuse.
In the event of replacing a fuse in the plug supplied, a 13 amp fuse approved by ASTA to BS1362 must be used.
If the socket outlets are not of the 13A BS 1363 type, and therefore do not accept the plug connected to this appliance, cut off the plug.

When cut off, this plug is a shock hazard if inserted into a socket outlet and must therefore be disposed of safely.
If the fuse cover is detachable, never use the plug with the cover omitted. Replacement covers can be obtained from your service agent.

•Never unplug it from the socket by pulling on the cable.
•Never use your appliance if it is not working correctly, or if it has been damaged. If this happens, contact an approved Krups service centre (see list in service booklet).
•Any intervention other than cleaning and normal maintenance by the customer must be carried out by an approved Krups service centre.
•Never place the appliance , the power cable or the plug in water or any other liquid.
•Never allow the power cable to hang down within reach of children.
•The power cable must never be allowed to be close to or in contact with the hot parts of your appliance, close to a source of heat or to rest on a sharp edge.
•If the power cable or the plug are damaged, do not use the appliance. to prevent any danger, these must be replaced by an approved KRUPS service centre (see list in service booklet).
•Do not use the coffee jug over a flame or on the hotplates of electric cookers.

•At the beginning of the coffee cycle, the active filter holder delays coffee output to allow the hot water to infuse with the ground coffee for best brewing results.

- AromaControl coffee jug
Your coffee jug can be used in a microwave.
- Cord storage
You can adjust the length of the cord by pulling it out from, or pushing it into, the interior of the appliance (11).
Using the coffee maker
•Before first use, rinse the appliance once or twice with water (but without coffee).
•Open the lid (1).
•Fill the water tank with cold water, observing the water level indicator (2).
•The water level indicator on your coffee jug corresponds to the water level indicator of the water tank, measured in cups of water
(3).
•The quantity of coffee used should be slightly less, because the coffee absorbs a little water.
•Close the lid.
•Swing out the filter holder container (4).
•Insert a no. 4 filter paper (1X4) in the active filter holder. We recommend that you fold over the edges of the filter paper (5) to make it easier to insert.
•Pour your ground coffee into the filter paper
(6).
•Close the filter holder container, check that it is correctly engaged (7) and place the coffee jug with its cover on the warming plate.
•Set the control to position «I» to begin (8). The light will come on.
Please note: your AromaControl coffee maker is fitted with an active filter holder (exclusive to Krups).

At the beginning of the coffee cycle, the active filter holder delays coffee output to allow the hot water to infuse with the ground coffee for best brewing results.
After about 1 - 2 minutes of brewing, the filter holder allows the water to flow into the coffee jug.
An anti-drip system allows you to remove the coffee jug so that you can pour yourself a cup of coffee while it is still brewing.
•quickly replace the coffee jug to prevent the filter holder from overflowing.
•to keep the coffee hot, replace the coffee jug on to the warming plate (9). It will stay hot for as long as the coffee maker is switched on.
- IF YOUR COFFEE MAKER IS FITTED WITH AN AUTOMATIC CUT-OUT (REF.176/180), the appliance
will stop heating automatically after 2 hours.
The appliance can be switched off at any time by setting the control to « 0 ».
-IF YOUR COFFEE MAKER IS FITTED WITH A PROGRAM-
MER (REF.180) , you will enjoy the following benefits :
-the timer function.
-you can set your coffee maker to start up to 24 hours in advance.
-the coffee maker will stop automatically after 2 hours.
•Plug in the appliance, the timer display flashes.
- To set the clock to the correct time:
•Turn the selector (m) to the correct position 
.
•Press button h (j) to set the hours.
•Press the min button (k) to set the minutes.
. Functioning in manual mode :
•Turn the selector (m) to position «I» (start).
•The light will come on (l).
•Turn the selector (m) to the position «0» (stop) to switch the appliance off.
. Using the appliance in programming mode :
To set the timer for coffee brewing:

•Turn the selector (m) to the position «prog»: the display symbol 
will flash.
•Press button h (j) to set the hours.
•Press the min button (k) to set the minutes.
•Turn the selector (m) to the position «auto»: the symbol 
keeps flashing : your coffee maker is now programmed.
At the time which has been programmed, the indicator switch (l) will come on to indicate that the appliance has started and the symbol 
remains fixed.
Please note: if you keep the selector (m) in «auto» position, your coffee maker will start every day at the programmed time.
You can cancel the program or stop the heating at any time by turning the selector (m) to the position «0».
Maintenance
. Descaling
In order to guarantee good coffee for longer, your coffee maker must be descaled at regular intervals :
-every 80 cycles for soft water (about once every 2 months)
-every 40 cycles for very hard water (about once a month)
But more frequent descaling may be necessary if you notice :
-an increase in noise when boiling
-brewing takes longer,
You can use :
. Either a sachet of descaler diluted in 2 large cups of water
. or 2 large cups of white wine vinegar
•Pour the mixture into the water tank and start your coffee maker (without coffee).
•Allow the equivalent of one cup to run through into the coffee jug. Then stop the coffee maker.
•Leave the remaining mixture in the coffee maker to work for one hour.

•Restart your coffee maker to finish the runthrough.
•Rinse your coffee maker by running it 2 or 3 times with fresh water (full water tank).
Please note : keep the sachet of descaler well out of reach of children.
Cleaning
•Unplug the appliance.
•Your coffee maker must only be cleaned with a damp cloth or sponge.
•Never place the appliance in water or under running water.
•The coffee jug and its lid can be washed in the dishwasher.
•To remove the used coffee grounds, remove the filter holder (d) from the coffee maker
(10).
•To ensure the active filter holder (d) remains fully effective, do not remove it from the holder unit and clean the filter holder simply by holding it under a running tap (not in the dishwasher).
