Utility vehicles have a significantly higher rollover rate than other types of vehicles. This vehicle has a higher ground clearance and a higher center of gravity than many passenger vehicles. It is capable of performing better in a wide variety of off-road applications. Driven in an unsafe manner, all vehicles can go out of control. Because of the
higher center of gravity, if this vehicle is out of control it may roll over while some other vehicles may not.
Do not attempt sharp turns, abrupt maneuvers, or other unsafe driving actions that can cause loss of vehicle control. Failure to operate this vehicle safely may result in a collision, rollover of the vehicle, and severe or fatal injury. Drive carefully.
Rollover Warning Label
INTRODUCTION 13
Failure to use the driver and passenger seat belts provided is a major cause of severe or fatal injury. In fact, the US govern-
ment notes that the universal use of existing seat belts could 1 cut the highway death toll by 10,000 or more each year and could reduce disabling injuries by two million annually. In a rollover crash, an unbelted person is significantly more likely to die than a person wearing a seat belt. Always buckle up.
This Owner’s Manual contains WARNINGS against oper- ating procedures thatcould result in a collision, bodily injury and/or death. It also contains CAUTIONS against proce- dures that could result in damage to your vehicle. If you do not read this entire Owner’s Manual, you may miss important information. Observe all Warnings and Cautions.
WARNING!
Any modifications or alterations to this vehicle could seriously affect its roadworthiness and safety and may lead to a collision resulting in serious injury or death.

16 GETTING TO KNOW YOUR VEHICLE
Your vehicle uses either a key startignition system or keyless ignition system. The ignition system consists of a key fob with a Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) and an ignition switch. The keyless ignition system consists of a key fob and Keyless Enter-N-Go button.
NOTE:
The key fob may not be found if it is located next to a mobile phone, laptop or other electronic device; these devices may block the key fob’s wireless signal.
The key fob allows you to lock or unlock the doors and lift- gate from distances up to approximately 66 ft (20 m) using a handheld key fob. The key fob does not need to be pointed at the vehicle to activate the system.

WARNING!
•Do not start or run an engine in a closed garage or confined area. Exhaust gas contains Carbon Monoxide (CO) which is odorless and colorless. Carbon Monoxide is poisonous and can cause serious injury or death when inhaled.
•Keep key fobs away from children. Operation of the Remote Start System, windows, door locks or other controls could cause serious injury or death.
The following messages will display in the instrument cluster display if the vehicle fails to remote start or exits remote start prematurely:
•Remote Start Aborted — Door Open
•Remote Start Aborted — Hood Open
•Remote Start Aborted — Fuel Low
•Remote Start Aborted — Liftgate Open
•Remote Start Disabled — Start Vehicle To Reset
•Remote Start Aborted — Too Cold
•Remote Start Aborted — Time Expired
The message will stay active until theignition is placed in the ON/RUN position.
Push and release the remote start button on the key fob twice within five seconds. The vehicle doors will lock, the parking lights will flash, and the horn will chirp twice (if programmed). Then, the engine will start, and the vehicle will remain in the Remote Start mode for a 15 minute cycle.
NOTE:
•If an engine fault is present or fuel level is low, the vehicle will start and then shut down in 10 seconds.
•The park lamps will turn on and remain on during Remote Start mode.
•For security, power window and power sunroof operation (if equipped) are disabled when the vehicle is in the Remote Start mode.
•The engine can be started two consecutive times with the key fob. However, the ignition must be cycled by pushing the START/STOP ignition button twice (or the ignition switch must be placed in the ON/RUN position) before you can repeat the start sequence for a third cycle.
Push and release the remote start button one time or allow the engine to run for the entire 15 minute cycle.
NOTE:
To avoid unintentional shutdowns, the system will disable for two seconds after receiving a valid Remote Start request.
Before the end of 15 minute cycle, push and release the unlock button on the key fob to unlock the doors and disarm the vehicle security alarm (if equipped). Then, prior to the end of the 15 minute cycle, push and release the START/ STOP ignition button.
NOTE:
•For vehicles not equipped with the Keyless Enter-N-Go — Passive Entry feature, the ignition switch must be in the ON/RUN position in order to drive the vehicle.
•For vehicles equipped with the Keyless Enter-N-Go — Passive Entry feature, the message“RemoteStart Active— Push Start Button” will show in the instrument cluster display until you push the START/STOP ignition button.
GETTING TO KNOW YOUR VEHICLE 27
When remote start is activated, the heated steering wheel and driver heated seat features will automatically turn on in cold weather. In warm weather, the driver vented seat 2 feature will automatically turn on when the remote start is activated. These features will stay on through the duration of remote start or until the ignition switch is placed in the ON/ RUN position. Refer to “Uconnect Settings” in “Multimedia” for further information.
When remote start is active and the outside ambient temperature is less than 33°F (0.6°C), the Windshield Wiper De-Icer will be enabled. The Sentry Key Immobilizer system prevents unauthorized vehicle operation by disabling the engine. The system does not need to be armed or activated. Operation is automatic, regardless of whether the vehicle is locked or unlocked.
The system uses a key fob, keyless push button ignition and a Radio Frequency (RF) receiver to prevent unauthorized vehicle operation. Therefore, only key fobs that are programmed to the vehicle can be used to start and operate the vehicle. The system cannot reprogram a key fob obtained from another vehicle.
