INTRODUCTION
Dear Customer, congratulations onselectingyour new vehicle. Beassuredthatitrepresents precisionworkmanship, distinctivestyling, and high quality.
This is a specialized utility vehicle. It can go places and perform tasks that are not intended for conventional passenger vehicles. It handles and maneuvers differently from many passenger vehicles, both on-road and off-road, so take time to become familiar with your vehicle. If equipped, the two-wheel drive version of this vehicle is designed for on-road use only. It is not intended for off-road driving or use in other severe conditions suited for a four-wheel drive vehicle. Before you start to operate this vehicle, read the Owner’s Manual. Be sure you are familiar with all vehicle controls, particularly thoseusedfor braking, steering, transmission, andtransfer case operation. Learn howyour vehiclehandlesondifferentroadsurfaces.Your driving skills will improve with experience. When driving off-road, or operating the vehicle, don’t overload the vehicle or expect the vehicle to overcome the natural laws of physics. Always observe federal, state, provincial and local laws wherever you drive. As with other vehicles of this type, failure to operate this vehicle correctly may result in loss of control or a collision. Refer to “Driving Tips” in “Starting and Operating” for further information.

Consult the Table of Contents to determine which section contains the information you desire. |
Since the specification of your vehicle depends on the items of equipment ordered, certain descriptions and illustrations may differ from your vehicle's equipment.
The detailed Index at the back of this Owner's Manual contains a complete listing of all subjects.
Some vehicle components have colored labels whose symbols indicate precautions to be observed when using this component. Refer to “Warning Lights and Messages” in “Getting To Know Your Instrument Panel” for further information on the symbols used in your vehicle.
ROLLOVERWARNING
Utility vehicles have a significantly higher rollover rate than other types of vehicles. This vehicle has a higher ground clearance and a higher center of gravity than many passenger vehicles. It is capable of performing better in a wide variety of off-road applications. Driven in an unsafe manner, all vehicles can go out of control. Because of the higher center of gravity, if this vehicle is out of control, it may roll over while some other vehicles may not.
Do not attempt sharp turns, abrupt maneuvers, or other unsafe driving actions that can cause loss of vehicle control. Failure to operate this vehicle safely may result in a collision, rollover of the vehicle, and severe or fatal injury. Drive carefully.
Failure to use the driver and passenger seat belts provided is a major cause of severe or fatal injury. In fact, the US government notes that the universal use of existing seat belts could cut the highway death toll by 10,000 or more each year and could reduce disabling injuries by two million annually. In a rollover crash, an unbelted person is significantly more likely to die than a person wearing a seat belt. Always buckle up.

SENTRYKEY
The Sentry Key Immobilizer system prevents unauthorized vehicle operation by disabling the engine. The system does not need to be armed or activated. Operation is automatic, regardless of whether the vehicle is locked or unlocked.
The system uses a key fob, keyless push button ignition and a Radio Frequency (RF) receiver to prevent unauthorized vehicle operation.
Therefore, only key fobs that are programmed to the vehicle can be used to start and operate the vehicle.Thesystem willnotallow the engine to crank if an invalid key fob is usedto start and operate the vehicle. The system will shut the engine off in two seconds if an invalid key fob is used to start the engine.
After placing the ignition switch in the ON/RUN position, thevehiclesecuritylightwillturnonfor three seconds for a bulb check. If the light remains on after the bulb check, it indicates that there is a problem with the electronics. In addition, if the light begins to flash after the bulb check, it indicates that someone used an invalid key fob to start the engine. Either of these conditions will result in the engine being shut off after two seconds.
If the vehicle security light turns on during normal vehicle operation (vehicle running for longer than 10 seconds), it indicates that there is a fault in the electronics. Should this occur, havethevehicleservicedassoonaspossibleby an authorized dealer.
CAUTION!
The Sentry Key Immobilizer system is not compatible with some aftermarket remote starting systems. Use of these systems may result in vehicle starting problems and loss of security protection.
All of the key fobs provided with your new vehicle have been programmed to the vehicle electronics.
Key fob programming is performed at an authorized dealer.
NOTE:
Only key fobs that are programmed to the vehicle electronics can be used to start and operate the vehicle. Once a key fob is programmed to a vehicle, it cannot be programmed to any other vehicle.

If thelightremainson after the bulb check, it indicates that there is a problem with the electronics. In addition, if the light begins to flash after the bulb check, it indicates that someone used an invalid key fob to try to start the engine.

FOBIK-Safe only executes in vehicles with Passive Entry. There are five situations that trigger aFOBIK-Safe searchinanypassiveentry vehicle:
A lock request is made by a valid Passive Entry key fob while a door is open.
A lock request is made by the Passive Entry door handle while a door is open.
A lock request is made by the door panel switch while the door is open.
When the vehicle security alarm is inpre-arm or armed status and the liftgate transitions from open to closed.
When the liftgate transitions from open to closed and remote start is active.
When any of these situations occur, after all open doors areshut, the FOBIK-Safe searchwill be executed. If it finds a Passive Entry key fob inside the car, the car will unlock and alert the customer.
