Rea® Assist is the perfect choice for passive users, because it is comfortable to sit in and provides proper support. Of course when developing this chair, we also took into consideration the needs of the carer. The improved Invacare® Flex2 seat can be adapted to the individual and offers stable and comfortable seating positions and user activities.
Rea® Assist makes sure that users who need to sit for long periods of time in the wheelchair can feel comfortable. The adjustable seating system adjusts both the width and the seat depth and comes with specially designed cushions and armrest pads that offer good support and are suitable for most users. Extra comfort and peace of mind are obtained by increasing the user's body contact with the wheelchair cushions. The deeply contoured backrest cushion provides excellent support for the user's back and trunk. The specially designed backrest cushion creates perfect comfort and positioning. To optimise seating needs, Assist has a 20º seat tilt with independent backrest recline of 30º. This allows the user to be both active and relaxed. The seat tilt and backrest recline are operated by a gas spring, which allows the user to easily change their position from active seating to rest. The adjustable head support provides perfect support when adjusting the angle of the backrest.
The backrest attachment has been changed to improve compatibility between Rea® Bellis and Rea® Assist. The Invacare® Flex2 range includes back support, cushions and other kinds of back support, which makes it easier for users to achieve even greater comfort with Invacare's wide range of accessories. Rea® Assist's wheels, seat frame, push handles and other components that are subject to strain are made of steel. The legrests and backrest shafts are made of highquality aluminium. The castor suspension and the jointed sections of the frame are made of polyamide reinforced with fibreglass. The arm rests and backrest casing are made of ABS plastic and steel. There are recycling labels on the plastic details. The backrest plate is made of wood and the upper part is made of plastic. Seat and backrest cushions are made of polyether foam and the upholstery is made of washable plush or elastic polyurethane cloth.
Rea® Assist is a carer-operated wheelchair with an angle-adjustable seat unit. The angle of the backrest unit can be adjusted independently of the seat. The controls for the seat and the backrest angle are fitted on the push handles. Rea® Assist is available in two seat widths. The seat width, seat depth, backrest height, armrest height, legrest height and legrest width can be adjusted. The rear wheels are 16" with carer-operated brakes, while the castors are 140-200 mm. The wheels can be pneumatic or semi-solid. Brake handles are fitted on the push handles.
The seat and backrest cushions have been designed with the user in mind. They give as much stability and comfort as possible and provide good pressure distribution.
