Asamanufacturerofwheelchairs,Invacareendeavorsto supplyawidevarietyofwheelchairstomeetmanyneeds oftheenduser.However,finalselectionofthetypeof wheelchairtobeusedbyanindividualrestssolelywiththe userandhis/herhealthcareprofessionalcapableofmaking suchaselection.Invacarehighlyrecommendsworkingwith acertifiedrehabtechnologysupplierand/oramemberof NRRTSorRESNA.

OperationInformation

WARNING! Setup
–AqualifiedtechnicianMUSTperformtheinitialset
upofthispersonaltransporter.Also,aqualified technicianMUSTperformallproceduresintheservice manual.
–Performanceadjustmentsshouldonlybemadeby
professionalsofthehealthcarefieldorpersons fullyconversantwiththisprocessandthedriver's capabilities.Incorrectsettingscouldcauseinjury tothedriver,bystanders,damagetothepersonal transporterandtosurroundingproperty.
–Afterthepersonaltransporterhasbeen
set-up/adjusted,checktomakesurethatthe personaltransporterperformstothespecifications enteredduringtheset-upprocedure.Ifthepersonal transporterdoesnotperformtospecifications,turn thepersonaltransporterOffimmediatelyandreenter set-upspecifications.Repeatthisprocedureuntilthe personaltransporterperformstospecifications.
WARNING! Transport
DONOToperateonroads,streetsorhighways.DONOTtransportanoccupiedpersonaltransporter
inamovingvehicle.
–Asofthisdate,theDepartmentofTransportationhas
notapprovedanytie-downsystemsfortransportation ofauserwhileinawheelchair,inamovingvehicle ofanytype.ItisInvacare’spositionthatusersof wheelchairsshouldbetransferredintoappropriate seatinginvehiclesfortransportationandusebe madeoftherestraintsmadeavailablebytheauto industry.Invacarecannotanddoesnotrecommend anywheelchairtransportationsystems.
MovingUnoccupiedPersonalTransporters
–Toavoidinjuryorpropertydamagewhenmovingan
unoccupiedpersonaltransporterdownanincline, performthefollowing:
Engagemotorlocklevers.Turnpoweronandadjustspeedtominimalsetting.Drivepersonaltransporterforwarddownincline.
WARNING! StairwaysandEscalators
–DONOTattempttomoveanoccupiedpersonal
transporterbetweenfloorsusingastairway.Usean elevatortomoveanoccupiedpersonaltransporter betweenfloors.
–Theweightofthepersonaltransporterwithoutthe
userisapproximately155lbs.Useproperlifting techniques(liftwithyourlegs)toavoidinjury.

WARNING! StairwaysandEscalators
–Ifmovingthepersonaltransporterbetweenfloorsby
meansofastairway,theoccupantMUSTberemoved andtransportedindependentlyofthepersonal transportercomponents.
–TheseatMUSTberemovedfromthepersonal
transporterbasebeforemovingitupordownthe stairs.Noupwardforceshouldbeappliedtotheseat tomovethechair.
–Thepersonaltransporterbaseweighs100lbswiththe
batteryboxinstalled.Invacarerecommendsremoving thebatteryboxandtransportingitindependently fromthebase.
–Invacarerecommendsusingtwoassistantsandmaking
thoroughpreparations.MakesuretouseONLY secure,non-detachablepartsforhand-holdsupports.
–DONOTuseanescalatortomoveapersonal
transporterbetweenfloors.Seriousbodilyinjurymay occur.
–DONOTattempttoliftthepersonaltransporterby
anyremovable(detachable)parts.Liftingbymeans ofanyremovable(detachable)partsofapersonal transportermayresultininjurytotheuserordamage tothepersonaltransporter.
Followthisprocedureformovingthepersonaltransporterbetween floorswhenanelevatorisNOTavailable:
Whenusingastairwaytomovethepersonaltransporterand anyaccessories,moveallpersonaltransportercomponents awayfromthestairwaypriortoreassembly.

–Transportreadypackagesarenotretrofittableto

CanadaLimitedWarranty

Thiswarrantyisextendedonlytotheoriginalpurchaserwho purchasesthisproductwithinCanadawhennewandunused fromInvacareoradealer.Thiswarrantyisnotextendedtoany otherpersonorentityandisnottransferableorassignabletoany subsequentpurchaserorowner.Coverageunderthiswarrantywill enduponanysuchsubsequentsaleorothertransferoftitletoany otherperson.
Thiswarrantygivesyouspecificlegalrightsandyoumayalsohave otherlegalrightswhichvaryfromstatetostate.
Invacarewarrantsthebaseframetobefreefromdefectsinmaterials andworkmanshipforaperiodoffive(5)yearsfromthedateof purchasefromInvacareoradealer,withacopyoftheseller’sinvoice requiredforcoverageunderthiswarranty.Invacarewarrantsall electronicsandelectricalcomponents(excludingbatteries),powered seatingactuators,2-polemotorsandgearboxestobefreefrom defectsinmaterialsandworkmanshipforaperiodoftwo(2)years fromthedateofpurchasefromInvacareoradealer,withacopy oftheseller’sinvoicerequiredforcoverageunderthiswarranty. 2SafetyHandling

2.1Safety/Handling

“SafetyandHandling”ofthepersonaltransporterrequiresthe closeattentionofthepersonaltransporteruseraswellasthe assistant.Thismanualpointsoutthemostcommonproceduresand techniquesinvolvedinthesafeoperationandmaintenanceofthe personaltransporter.Itisimportanttopracticeandmasterthese safetechniquesuntilyouarecomfortableinmaneuveringaroundthe frequentlyencounteredarchitecturalbarriers.
Usethisinformationonlyasa“basic”guide.Thetechniquesthatare discussedonthefollowingpageshavebeenusedsuccessfullybymany.
UsersandassistantsMUSTbeawarethatthehandlingand maneuverabilitycharacteristicsofrearwheeldrivepersonal transportersareinherentlydifferentfromcenterandfrontwheel drivewheelchairs.Handlingandmaneuverabilitydifferenceswillbe mostnoticeablewhentravelingupordownrampsandslopesorover obstaclesandroughterrainasthismayshifttheuserscenterofmass resultingindecreasedstability.ALWAYSreducespeedandwearthe seatpositioningstrapwhendrivingundertheseconditions.
