Quick Start

1 Install the Hub

Remove the hub and parts from the box.

Attach the enclosed brackets if you plan to mount the hub in a rack.

Install the Intel ® Express 330T Stackable Hub in a rack or on a shelf.

Plug in the power cord.

Connect

2 the Devices

All ports automatically detect the speed of the device connected to them.

Connect PCs and print servers to the hub with straight-through cables.

Use a crossover cable to connect a hub to another hub or switch.

Use a straight-through cable to connect to another hub or switch when port 1 is set to MDI.

Use only CAT 5 UTP to connect 100Mbps devices. To connect 10Mbps devices, use CAT 3, 4, or 5 UTP.

Check the

3 Connections

Check the port LEDs to confirm the link status.

A solid green LED (on the left) indicates a valid link.

Rack: Use the three small screws to attach the brackets to the hub.

• When properly connected, the entire stack will

(10Mbps and 100Mbps). The top hub in a stack

will be numbered hub 1.

Cascade Cable

The hub’s internal bridge automatically bridges the 10Mbps and 100Mbps segments (collision domains) for the entire stack.

Stacking Hubs: The cascade cable connects from the “Down” connector on one hub to the “Up” connector on the hub below it.

Changing MDI/MDI-X

for Port 1

• All ports on the hub are MDI-X. Pressing the

MDI-X

MDI/MDI-X button switches Port 1 to MDI so

you can connect to another hub or switch using

Class II

a straight-through cable.

Because the 330T is a Class II hub, never daisy-chain a 330T hub to a Class I hub running at 100Mbps with UTP cable. Doing so can lead to poor network performance.
