Safety information

Your boom box uses a Class 1 laser to read Compact Discs. Your boombox is equipped with safety switches to avoid exposure when the CD door is open and the safety interlocks are defeated. Invisible laser radiation is present when the CD door is open and the system’s interlock has failed or been defeated. You should

avoid direct exposure to the laser beam at all times. Do not attempt to defeat or bypass the safety switches.

Do not put any foreign objects in the disc compartment. The laser beam interlock may be defeated, allowing the laser to remain on when the lid is opened.

Do not put any foreign objects in the DC IN jack. Should any objects or liquids fall into the unit, disconnect the power supply and have the boom box checked by qualified personnel before any further operation.

WARNING: To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose the boom box to rain or moisture.

WARNING:To avoid electrical shock, do not open the boom box. Refer servicing to qualified personnel only.

Do not expose the boom box to dripping and splashing. Do not place any objects filled with liquid, such as vases, on the unit.

CAUTION: Replace all batteries at the same time.

CAUTION: Do not mix battery types

Protect the environment by recycling or disposing of batteries according to federal, state, and local regulations.

Setting up your boom box

Connecting AC power

Connect the provided AC power adapter to the DC IN jack on the boom box, then plug the AC power adapter into a household AC power socket.

Warning: Whenever AC power is connected, electricity is running through the boom box, even when the power switch is turned o .

Installing batteries

Insert six C alkaline batteries (not included) into the battery compartment on the bottom of the boom box, then close the battery compartment cover.

Note: Battery power is used only when AC power is disconnected. Caution: Replace all batteries at the same time with the same battery type. Do not mix battery types.

Warning: Do not attempt to recharge a non-rechargeable battery.

Adjusting volume

• To adjust the volume, press the VOLUME+/- buttons.

Connecting headphones

Although your boom box has high-quality speakers built in, you can also connect headphones for private listening. The boom box’s speakers automatically turn o when headphones are connected.

Using your boom box

Using the radio

To tune to a station:

1Press SOURCE until RADIO mode is selected, then press

STOP/BAND to select AM or FM.

2Press or to tune to a station or, press and holdor to search for a station.

For optimum AM reception, rotate the boom box to orient its built-in antenna until you get the strongest signal. To prevent signal interference, keep the AC power adapter three feet (about one meter) away from the radio.

Your boom box can store up to 20 station presets (10 AM and10 FM).

To set a station preset:

1Tunetoastation,thenpressMEMORY.Thememorywillappear on the display.

2 Press PRESET /to select the desired station. 3 Press MEMORY to confirm.

To tune to a station preset:

Press PRESET /until the preset number you want appears on the display.

Playing a CD

1Press SOURCE until “CD” appears in the display. After a few seconds, the total number of tracks on the CD is displayed.

2 Press PLAY/PAUSE. The CD begins playing.

Using your iPod

1Insert the appropriate iPod dock adapter securely into the boom box’s iPod dock. If the required adapter is not included, use the adapter that came with your iPod.

2Insert your iPod into the connector in the iPod dock, then press SOURCE until“iPod” appears on the display.

3Your iPod will turn on and start playing automatically.

To skip to another track, press (previous track) or (next track).

Notes:

The iPod recharges while it is installed in the iPod dock.

To prevent interference to the AM radio signal, turn o the iPod while you are playing AM radio.

Using external audio devices

You can connect many external audio devices to your boom box.

To play auxiliary audio:

1Connect a male-to-male stereo audio cable (not included) to the AUX IN jack inside the iPod compartment of your boom box and to the line out/headphone jack of the external audio device.

2 Press SOURCE until“In” appears on the display.

3Turn on the external audio device and use its controls to play music. The audio device plays through your boom box’s speakers.

Cette minichaîne utilise un laser de classe 1 pour lire les disques compacts. Cette minichaîne avec lecteur CD est équipée d’interrupteurs de sécurité pour éviter toute exposition lorsque le couvercle du CD est ouvert et que les verrous de sécurité ont été contournés. Un rayonnement laser invisible est émis lorsque le

couvercle du CD est ouvert et que le dispositif de verrouillage du système est défaillant ou a été neutralisé. Éviter toute exposition directe au rayonnement laser. Ne pas neutraliser ou contourner les interrupteurs de sécurité.

Ne jamais déposer un objet étranger sur le plateau à disque. Le verrou de sécurité du laser peut être neutralisé, permettant au laser de rester activé quand le couvercle est ouvert.

Ne jamais introduire d’objet étranger dans la prise d ‘entrée CC (DC IN). En cas d’introduction d’objets ou de liquides dans l’appareil, déconnecter l’alimentation et faire vérifier la minichaîne par du personnel qualifié avant de l’utiliser de nouveau.

Installation de la minichaîne

Connexion à l’alimentation CA

Brancher l’adaptateur d’alimentation CA fourni sur la prise d’entrée CC de l’appareil puis sur une prise secteur CA.

Avertissement : quand l’alimentation CA est connectée, l’appareil continue d’être sous tension, même s’il a été arrêté.

Installation des piles

Insérer six piles alcalines de type C (non fournies) dans le compartiment des piles sur le dessous de la minichaîne, puis refermer le compartiment.

Remarque : l’alimentation sur piles n’est utilisée que lorsque l’alimentation CA est déconnectée.

Attention : remplacer toutes les piles en même temps avec le même type. Ne pas mélanger des types de piles di érents.

Avertissement : ne pas essayer de recharger une pile qui n’est pas conçue pour cela.

Réglage du volume

• Pour régler le volume, appuyer sur les touches VOLUME+/-.

Connexion d’un casque d’écoute

Bien que cette minichaîne intègre des haut-parleurs de haute qualité, il est également possible de connecter un casque d’écoute pour une écoute individuelle. Les haut-parleurs de la minichaîne sont automatiquement désactivés quand le casque d’écoute est connecté.
