GENERAL

• This section covers removal and installation of the frame body panels and exhaust system.
• Always replace the exhaust pipe gaskets when removing the exhaust pipe from the engine.
• Loosely install all fo the exhaust pipe fasteners. Always tighten the exhaust clamps first, then tighten the mounting fasteners.
If you tighten the mounting fasteners first, the exhaust pipe may not seat properly.
• Always inspect the exhaust system for leak after installation.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Excessive exhaust noise

• Broken exhaust system
• Exhaust gas leak

Poor performance

• Deformed exhaust system
• Exhaust gas leak
• Clogged muffler
• Serious burns may result if the exhaust system is not allowed to cool before components are removed or serviced.

FRONT FAIRING

Remove the bolts and front fairing.
Disconnect the headlight socket.
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
NOTE
• At installation, align the bosses on the front fairing with the
hole in the steering stem.
