CDR-882 DRIVE TYPES & FIRMWARE TECHNICAL BULLETIN
From August 2009 HHB CDR-882s were shipped with new DVD-R drives and firmware. This
document contains useful information regarding drive types and firmware versions to be installed in
the CDR-882.
Drive firmware version 60TE released August 2009 is written for the new DVD-R drives DH-22A9P
and CDR-882s shipped from HHB from August 2009 will have this drive firmware or later.
In addition there is a new v2.62 firmware for the CDR-882 to fully support the new drives. This CDRÂ882 firmware is independent of the drive firmware.
Finally, a new firmware DO3E for the original CD-R drive DH-52R2P is also available which improves
finalization compatibility and reduces data loss in the event of an error.

Q Should CDR-882 firmware v2.62 be installed in existing CDR-882s with DH-52R2P drives?
A Yes it is best to keep the CDR-882 firmware on the latest version.
Q Is the version 60TE drive firmware also compatible with DH-52R2P drives?
A No, there is a separate firmware version DO3E for the DH-52R2P drive.
Q What will happen if I install the wrong firmware with the wrong drive type?
A This is not possible. If you try to install the wrong drive firmware the update process will not
start. Note that firmware v2.62 is required to update the firmware in the new DH-22A9P.
Q If there is a drive failure in a CDR-882 with DH-52R2P drives can the new DH-22A9P drives
and 60TE drive firmware be used?
A Yes, the new drives and firmware are fully compatible with the existing CDR-882s provided
v2.62 CDR-882 firmware is installed. You can even mix the two different drive models in the
same CDR-882.

A No
