13.Outdoor Antenna grounding-If an outside antenna or cable system is connected to the TV/VCR, be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges. Article 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA No. 70, provides information with respect to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode. (Fig. A)

14.Lightning-Foradded protection for this TV/VCR receiver during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the TV/VCR due to lightning andpower-linesurges.

15.Power Lines-Anoutside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power lines or circuits as contact with them might be fatal.

16.Overloading-Donot overload wall outlets and extension cords as this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.

c.If the TV/VCR has been exposed to rain or water.

d.If the TV/VCR does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions, as improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the TV/VCR to its normal operation.

e.If the TV/VCR has been dropped or damaged in any way.

f.When the TV/VCR exhibits a distinct change in perfor- mance-thisindicates a need for service.

20.Replacement Parts-Whenreplacement parts are required, be sure the service technician has used replacement parts specified by the manufacturer that have the same characteristics as the original part. Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire, electric shock, injury to persons or other hazards.

21.Safety Check-Uponcompletion of any service or repairs to this TV/VCR, ask the service technician to perform routine safety checks to determine that the TV/VCR is in proper operating condition.

CONNECTIONS

A VHF UHF 75 ohm combination antenna can be

connected to ANT terminal.

DIPOLE ANTENNA HOOK UP

1.Push the stem of the Dipole Antenna (accessory) into the hole for antenna at the back of TV/VCR.

2.Connect the flat twin-leadcable from the Dipole Antenna to the 300/75 ohm Matching Adapter (accessory).

3.Plug the Matching Adapter to ANT terminal of TV/VCR as shown in drawing.

For the best reception, extend the Dipole Antenna and adjust its length and position. (Avoid handling the top section when making adjustments.)

NOTE: If it is difficult to get good reception with the indoor antenna, the use of an outdoor antenna is recommended. Before an outdoor antenna is connected to the set, the indoor antenna should be disconnected.

VHF/UHF SEPARATE ANTENNAS

In some areas it will be necessary to use an outdoor antenna.

CABLE WITHOUT CONVERTER/ DESCRAMBLER BOX

Use this connection if your cable system connects directly to your TV/VCR without a converter box. By using this connection you can:

1)Use the TV/VCR remote to select channels.

2)Program one or more unscrambled channels for Automatic Timer Recording.

NOTE: This unit willONLY record and view the same channel.

Note to CATV system installer:

This reminder is provided to call the CATV system installer’s attention to Article 820-40of the NEC that provides guidelines for proper grounding and, in particular, specifies that the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the building as close to the point of cable entry as practical.

CABLE WITH CONVERTER/ DESCRAMBLER BOX OR SATELLITE BOX

If your cable service supplies you with a converter box or if you use a satellite system, you can use the basic connection shown in drawing.

By using this connection you can also record scrambled channels. However, channel selection must be made with the converter box or satellite box. This means that channels cannot be changed using the TV/VCR Remote Control. Unattended timer recording is limited to one channel at a time.

TO RECORD A SCRAMBLED/UNSCRAMBLED CHANNEL

1. Set the TV/VCR channel selector to the output channel of the Cable Converter Box or Satellite Box. (Ex. CH3)

2.Select the channel to record from your Cable Converter Box or Satellite Box.

INSTALLING THE BATTERIES

1)Open the battery compartment cover by pressing the cover on the remote unit in the direction of the arrow.

2)Insert 2 “AA” penlight batteries into the battery compartment in the direction indicated by the polarity (+/-)markings.

3)Replace the cover.

MOBILE CONNECTION

WARNING: The driver should never watch the TV/VCR while operating a motor vehicle.

CAUTION: If you use the TV/VCR with the vehicle’s engine off, recharge the vehicle’s battery after about every 4 hours of use to prevent it from running down. After you finish using the TV/VCR be sure you unplug the car-batterycord from the cigarettelighter socket.

1)The supplied indoor antenna is adequate when your vehicle is stationary. For best reception on the road, use a high-qualityVHF/UHF mobile TV antenna.

2)Attach the car battery cord to the DC13.2V (12V) connector on the back of the TV/VCR. Then, connect the other end to your vehicle’s cigarettelighter socket.

NOTES:

Be sure your vehicle has a 13.2-volt(12-volt),neg-ative-groundelectrical system.
