Important CAUTIONS & WARNINGS

General:

1.This Installation & Operating Manual contains important instructions and safety information on the High Capacity Wall Freezer (HCWF). Read and understand the contents of this manual before attempting to: Uncrate, Install, Operate, and Clean or perform Routine Maintenance.

2.The HCWF is designed for the temporary frozen storage and easy access to frozen fish patties and other frozen product at commercial restaurants only. Franke authorizes no other use.

3.The HCWF may NOT be used for long term storage, only temporary storage of frozen product between the walk-in freezer and fryer or grill station production.

4.The HCWF is designed for installation and operation indoors, in a restaurant kitchen area protected from weather, excessive heat, excessive humidity and corrosive salt air.

5.Only persons over 15 years old may operate this equipment, following all safety and operating instructions.

Plesae read and understand all of the WARNINGS, CAUTIONS and NOTES listed below.

During Installation

This equipment must be installed by qualified personnel, in compliance with all manufacturers’ instructions and local building, food safety and electric codes.

CAUTION! The shipping carton and pallet have banding under tension, nails or staples and possibly wood splinters. When uncrating, wear gloves and eye protection to reduce the risk of injury.

CAUTION! The HCWF-28 model weighs 200 lbs. or 91 kg. Do not attempt to remove this unit from the shipping carton or pallet without the help of others.

CAUTION! The HCWF-28 is designed for wall mounting and provided with special mounting strips to secure the unit to a wall. Installer must be qualified to evaluate (mounting) wall construction, supply suitable wall anchors and securely mount the freezer per the instructions provided. Improper mounting could result in personal injury, freezer damage and damage to equipment located below the freezer.

When Loading Product

Always use disposable gloves when removing frozen product from the freezer, to avoid potential cross contamination.

Important Product Loading Tips:

1.DO NOT over-fill the High Capacity Wall Freezer. This freezer requires good air circulation to maintain uniform frozen temperatures.

2.DO NOT let box flaps or inner plastic bags block or obstruct the openings or vents in the top of the storage compartment. Blocking those openings may raise freezer compartment temperature and require the compressor to work harder

NOTE: Recommended maximum HOLD time for all products is 24 hours.

CAUTION! Do not allow freezer door to remain open for any longer than the time required to remove the frozen product required. Keeping the door open will raise freezer compartment temperature, require the compressor to work harder and potentially result in a FOOD SAFETY problem.

During Store Closing Procedure

1.Before closing, all remaining frozen product must be returned to long-term freezer storage.

2.This equipment must not be cleaned with a high-pressure water jet or steam cleaner.

3.Use only Cleaning and Sanitizing Agents approved by McDonald’s and specified for this application in their restaurants.

NOTE: Never defrost the freezer by scraping the inside walls, regardless of how much frost is present. The HCWF28 is programmed to defrost every three hour of compressor run time. That defrost time interval will vary with product load and how often the door is opened.

During Periodic Maintenance

WARNING! Verify the freezer is disconnected from the power source before attempting any preventive maintenance. Failure to disconnect the electric power could result in electric shock, burns, other injuries or death.

CAUTION! The fins on a condenser coil are very sharp, and some refrigeration lines can be very hot, resulting in possible cuts and/or burns. Avoid physical contact with the fins on the condenser coil or any related refrigeration lines. Gloves are recommended when cleaning the condenser coil.

Basic Troubleshooting:

1.Store Personnel authorized “troubleshooting” on the HCWF is limited to the steps and procedures outlined in Section 6 of this manual.

2.For any other service or performance problem not covered or corrected by Basic Troubleshooting procedures, call: Franke Technical Support at 1-800-537-2653 opition 2 in North America.

1Installation

1.Remove Freezer from Shipping Carton

This unit will arrive in a skid-mounted carton.

CAUTION! The shipping container may have staples and will have banding under tension, which can cause injuries. Wear gloves and eye protection to reduce the risk of injury when removing the carton.

––Cut the plastic banding using heavy scissors or tin snips.

––Use caution to avoid contact with banding, when cut.

––Lift cardboard carton straight up and off unit.

2.Leave Unit on Skid Until Ready to Wall-Mount

CAUTION! The unit weighs 200 lbs (91 kg). Do not attempt to remove it from the shipping skid without assistance.

––Peel the protective white plastic film from all stainless steel surfaces (front, sides, bottom and compartment interior).

3.Remove Packing & Loose Components

The High Capacity Wall Freezer has one compartment door and three interior wire shelves that have been secured so they won’t open or shift during shipping. Remove any tape securing the door. Remove any foam blocking and tape used to secure the product storage shelves. The shelves can be removed to lighten the unit during wall mounting.

4.Determine Freezer Wall Mounting Location

Identify the wall-mounting location, per the store equipment plan.

The High Capacity Wall Freezer is typically mounted immediately right or left of the Fry Station.

5.Electrical Preparation

Before you wall mount this unit, locate the appropriate 120-volt power outlet, typically the closest wall outlet. A ten-foot power cord with grounded plug is provided with the Freezer. This cord will be shipped coiled inside the open-top compressor compartment.

6.Wall Structure & Surface Preparation

The mounting wall must be capable of supporting 100 lbs. per linear foot. If drywall construction is evident, the wall may need reinforcing with 1/2-inch thick plywood. Cut plywood to size and securely anchor it to the wall structure (studs). A minimum of two wall studs are required for proper anchoring.
