V-1250x-RC INFRARED REMOTE CONTROL FEATURES
The V-1250x-RC Infrared remote control provides complete zone control through the (IR) receiver located on the back panel of the V-1250x. Infrared control requires the use of an external IR system like the Factor Electronics IR-KIT-36/56K or the IR-KIT-100K. Each zone provides an independent (IR) connection and each zone can be controlled separately. Once zone functions have been setup using the (IR) remote control all zone settings will stay the same until a new (IR) command is made or the V-1250x is powered OFF.

V-1250x INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: The V-1250x should be situated in a well ventilated location or position. Do not block the vents on the sides or top of the chassis. Proper ventilation is required for normal operation. Do not expose the unit to excessive dust and do not allow dust to build up on the unit and block the vent holes in the chassis. Do not place the V-1250x above or below heat-generating components such as another audio amplifier. Be sure to leave at least 2 inches of space to the sides of the chassis with open air flow above and below the unit.
INSTALLATION:
1. The V-1250x can be mounted in an equipment rack using the rack kit that is included with the V-66.
2. Always disconnect the AC power cord before making any connections to the V-1250x controller.
3. Use good quality 12-14awg 2 conductor stranded copper speaker wire for all 4-8ohm speaker connections and 18awg 2 conductor speaker wire for 70 volt speaker connections.
4. Use good quality audio cables for all input source connections and keep RCA wires as short as possible, under 25 feet.
5. We recommend the following tools and supplies for installation:
- Minimum one 12VDC 1 ampere power supply
- 7 x 3.5mm mono plugs
- 24/2awg insulated wire
- (IR) Infrared repeater kit Factor Electronics (IR-KIT-36/56K or IR-KIT-100K)
- Soldering kit
- Small slotted screwdriver (all speaker, IR, status and mute 12V trigger connections require a small slotted screwdriver)
IMPORTANT: All V-1250x ZONE INPUTS ARE DEFAULTED TO THE BUS INPUTS AT MAX VOLUME
The V-1250x is a very versatile amplifier and can be used in multiple ways. It's important to decide how each channel will be used prior to connecting sources and speakers to the controller. Simply plugging a source into the V-1250x and connecting speakers may not provide sound. You will need to activate the zone, select the correct source and adjust the volume. This can be achieved with an IR kit, 12VDC input or RS-232 control. It's always best to decide how you will use the V-1250x and have the necessary tools on hand to complete the installation. The BUS inputs are the default inputs for each zone. Insert a source into the BUS input (either 3.5mm analog or SPDIF Optical) and select BYPASS ON with the remote bypass dip switches for default audio. NOTE: the zone volume will be MAX for all channels until the volume is Adjusted using external IR or RS-232 control.
IMPORTANT: BACK PANEL POWER SWITCH:
The V-1250x back panel power switch can be left ON constantly once all connections are completed and verified. All V-1250x amplifiers will automatically enter the default OFF state if the master power switch is turned off. Once all the parameters are set for each zone it's best to leave the master power switch ON to retain zone settings. If the Master power switch is turned OFF or a power outage occurs, each zone will need to be re-configured using IR/RS232 to control the zones.

V-1250x INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS CONNECTING SPEAKERS
IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE THE 70VOLT AMPLIFIER SETTING IN BRIDGE MONO MODE. This will produce an output voltage of 140 volts which will damage the connected speakers and produce distortion.
INSTALLATION: Connecting Speakers to the V-1250x
Use a good quality stranded copper speaker wire for all speaker connections as follows:
4-8ohm Speakers use 12-14awg stranded copper speaker wire. 70 Volt Speakers, use 16-18awg stranded copper speaker wire.
The V-1250x provides 12 independent amplifiers or 6 independent stereo amplifiers. Each amplifier pair can be set for 4-8ohm stereo operation, 8ohm mono operation or 70 volt operation. Always use a minimum speaker impedance of 8ohms in BRIDGE MONO operation. Remove approximately 1/4” of insulation from the ends of the speaker wires. Twist or solder the ends of the speaker wire to insure that small strands of adjacent wire cannot touch creating a short. Remove the green speaker output terminal block connector and turn the set screws fully counter clockwise to open the connector. Insert the speaker wires in the correct connector holes making sure that no bare wire is showing. Tighten the set screws by turning clockwise until the wire is crimped and cannot be pulled out. Insert the speaker connector into the amplifier and apply a little pressure until the connector snaps in place. Repeat for all speaker connections.

V-1250x INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS CONNECTING SOURCES
IMPORTANT: THE STEREO ANALOG 3.5mm BUS INPUT WILL OVERRIDE THE STEREO OPTICAL INPUT. TO USE THE STEREO OPTICAL INPUT DO NOT CONNECT TO THE ANALOG 3.5mm BUS INPUT. The BUS INPUTS are the default inputs for all zones. INSTALLATION: Connecting Audio Sources to the V-1250x
Use good quality RCA cables, 3.5mm stereo cables or SPDIF optical cables to connect to the V-1250x. Keep RCA cables and 3.5mm stereo cables under 25' in length to avoid RF interference. NOTE: Each V-1250x zone is capable of switching between the RCA LINE IN or the OPTICAL/ANALOG BUS IN independently. Switching can be achieved using an (IR) Infrared system connected to the zone IR input, zone 12VDC LINE/BUS trigger input or RS232 commands with the V-1250x RS232 connected to a master control system. Controlling the input switching will be discussed in detail later in this manual. The default input for each zone is the STEREO BUS 3.5mm stereo or SPDIF optical INPUT.
1. Connect a source to the BUS input, select REMOTE BYPASS ON for the selected zone. Audio will play at MAX volume.
2. Connect a source to the LINE IN, select REMOTE BYPASS ON for the selected zone. Apply 12VDC to the LINE/BUS TRIGGER IN. Audio will play from the RCA LINE input at max volume.
3. Audio volume levels can be changed using Infrared or RS232 commands. Once a volume level is changed the V-1250x will store the new level in memory and replay at the new volume level even if the master power switch is turned off.

V-1250x INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (IR) INFRARED CONTROL (IR FREQUENCY 38kHz)
IMPORTANT: ZONES 1-6 CAN BE CONTROLLED WITH AN INFRARED REPEATER SYSTEM CONNECTED TO THE IR/GND ZONE INPUTS. THE ZONE REMOTE BYPASS SWITCHES MUST BE SET IN THE OFF POSITION TO ACCESS INFRARED FUNCTIONS.
INSTALLATION: CONNECTING AN (IR) INFRARED REPEATER SYSTEM TO THE IR/GND INPUTS
We recommend using a high quality Infrared repeater system like the Factor Electronics IR-KIT-100K or IR-KIT-36/56K. The V-1250x infrared operating frequency is 38kHz which is compatible with most North American Infrared systems. Each zone can be set up independently. The IR settings will be stored in memory provided the master power switch stays in the ON position and the power cord is not unplugged from the unit. Power outages will cause the zones to return to their OFF default state. We recommend using a separate IR system for each zone that will be used independently where changes to the zone will be made on a regular basis. All zones can be controlled using a single IR repeater system (Multizone Control) however changes to the system will be global and will affect all connected zones.

V-1250x INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS BUS IN/OUT, LIMITER & MASTER CONTROL TRIGGER IN/OUT
BUS IN/OUT: DEFAULT ZONE SOURCE
The BUS IN/OUT is used to send the same input source to any of the six zones or all zones. The BUS input can be selected by any or all channels by using the IR remote control and an external IR system or by programing the correct RS232 codes into a maser control system connected to the RS-232 jack. Or simply connect a source to the BUS input and select REMOTE BYPASS ON using the dip switches. The BUS input will broadcast in all zones provided there is no voltage applied to the LINE/BUS trigger input. The BUS OPTICAL input is a digital SPDIF stereo input that converts the digital signal to analog for use in the amplifiers. The analog BUS inputs/outputs are stereo however they can also be used as dual mono inputs to feed the LEFT/RIGHT channels of any zone for 70Volt installations or any configuration that requires mono audio. The BUS OUTPUT takes its signal from the BUS inputs OPTICAL/ANALOG BUS input jacks. The BUS OUTPUT can be used to cascade the BUS INPUT to multiple amplifiers or powered subwoofers.
Wiring for the Analog BUS IN/OUT using a 3.5mm stereo jack:
COMPRESSOR/LIMITER:
Each zone provides a LIMITER switch. When the LIMITER switch is ON the limiter will automatically monitor the zone input signal and lower the level of loud audio peaks to prevent overload of the amplifier. A practical application for the LIMITER would be in a microphone or telephone paging setup where an operator may speak loudly into the microphone causing amplifier overload and distortion. The limiter will automatically prevent the overload. Another practical use would be music sources which have vastly different levels where one source is loud and another is quiet. This is very common with smart phones and MP3 players where the music is recorded at different levels. The LIMITER will automatically level the sources. The V-1250x LIMITER Is high quality and barley audible when ON. The LIMITER is capable of providing up to -20dB of gain reduction on peak audio signals. We recommend using the LIMITER.
MASTER CONTROL TRIGGER IN/OUT: LINE/BUS/MUTE
The V-1250x amplifiers must be individually powered ON to operate. This can be achieved by selecting ON using the REMOTE BYPASS dip switches or select OFF using the REMOTE BYPASS dip switches and connecting an external IR system and using the V-1250x-RC remote control, or using RS-232 control and a master control system. Here is simple way to power ON/OFF/MUTE all six zones: REMOTE BYPASS ON: All zones ON the default input source is BUS. REMOTE BYPASS ON JACK INSERTED IN MASTER TRIGGER IN (0VDC SHORT +/-): All zones MUTE. REMOTE BYPASS ON JACK INSERTED IN MASTER TRIGGER IN 12VDC: All zones LINE INPUT Using a simple switch, all zones can be MUTED or the input can be changed from BUS to LINE using the MASTER IN jack. The MASTER OUT jack provides 12VDC when any amplifier or zone is powered ON. The MASTER OUT jack can be cascaded to other amplifiers, control systems or peripheral equipment like projectors, powered cinema screens and can be used to turn ON/OFF other equipment automatically.

Zone Activity and Zone Status:
The commands/queries for zone status: ZA – Zone Activity Auto Update Enable Command. Format - !ZA{0/1}+ ZS – Zone Status Query. Format - ?(z#}ZS+ Zone Activity Auto Update Enable Command The Activity Update will cause the system to send out the complete Zone State whenever something in the zone changes. The State string will be sent out one second after activity in the zone stops. Also, the Metadata will be sent out whenever it changes.
Zone Status Query:
The Zone Status Query will cause the system to send out the full Zone State string along with the Zone Metadata string(s), for the specified zone.
Important Note: Also, use the highest baud rate that the receiving system can support. When the Amplifier sends out complete Zone Status, (either due to an explicit query or due to an Auto Update, the data is formatted a bit differently than the standard responses to a Command or Query.
All Zone Info / Zone Status output lines will begin with the character ‘#’ (the sharp, or number sign).
The format of the Zone State is: #{z#}ZS VO{v#} PO{0/1} MU{0/1} IS{0/1}+ An example: #6ZS VO8 PO1 MU0 IS0+ This line tells us the following info about Zone 6: Zone Volume – 8 Power – On Mute – Off Input Select – Bus
