Stainless Steel Electric Roaster


When using this electrical appliance, safety precautions should always be observed, including the following:


Do not leave appliance when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use.

Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles on lid and base.

Do not use outdoors or on a wet surface.

To protect against electric shock do not immerse cord or plug in water or other liquid.

The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.

Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.

Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.

Do not allow unit to be used as a toy. Close supervision is necessary when used by or near children.

Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.

Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn controls to “OFF”, then remove plug from wall outlet.

Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

Do not touch the steam vent on the skillet lid during or after use. It is extremely hot and may cause scalding.

Avoid sudden temperature changes.

Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.

Do not operate with damaged cord or plug. If the appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to an authorized service center for proper service and replacement or repair.

Warning: Any other servicing should be preformed by an authorized service representative.

Do not clean with metal scouring pads as small particles may break off and create the risk of electric shock. Metal scouring pads may also damage the finish.

A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.

This unit has a 3-prong plug which fits into a standard grounded 3-prong wall outlet. Do not cut or remove the third prong from the plug. If an adaptor is used, be sure adaptor wire and wall outlet are grounded. If there is any doubt as to whether or not the outlet is properly grounded, consult a qualified electrician.

This unit is recommended for household, indoor use only.

Use only with thermostat control that came with your unit DCT-00ZA or DCT-001B.

Before First Use

1.Remove all packing materials.

2.Wash the roaster and lid with warm soapy water and rinse well. Dry thoroughly. DO NOT immerse the temperature probe in water.

Operating the Unit

Note: Appliance may give off a fine smoke and a slight burning odor when operating for the first time.

1. Place the unit on a dry, flat surface.

NOTE: The steam vent in the Lid should always be placed in the back of the roaster. Lift the lid tilting from the back to the front to prevent steam burns. Use pot holders to lift lid or move the roaster.

2.Turn the temperature dial to the “OFF”setting. Plug the temperature probe into the unit. Plug the cord into an electrical outlet.

3.Turn the temperature control dial to the desired temperature. The indicator light will turn on. When the light turns off, the unit has reached it’s desired temperature. It is ready to start cooking.

4.Your roaster will preheat for approximately 3-8 minutes, depending on the desired temperature. For fast heat up, place the glass cover on top of the base.

5.Place food in the roaster. NOTE: After preheating, do not leave roaster on without any food inside. This can damage the pan over time.

NOTE: Add only enough oil to coat the bottom of the roaster.

Do not use large amounts of oil.


6.Turn the temperature dial to the “OFF” position when you are finished cooking. Unplug from the wall outlet.

Cleaning the Unit

1.Turn the temperature dial to the “OFF”position. Unplug from the electrical outlet. Once the unit has cooled, remove the temperature probe from the unit .

2.Allow the unit to cool before cleaning.

3.The roaster and lid can be washed in warm soapy water. Rinse well. Dry thoroughly before reassembling.

4.If surface is hard to clean, reheat the unit. Unplug unit. Let it cool until it is warm, then clean as stated above.

5.To clean the temperature probe, wipe with a dry soft cloth. It is not immersible.

Hints and Tips

Do not place the temperature control probe on the skillet surface, as it may scratch or damage the surface.

Quick Savory Cranberry Glazed Pork Loin Roast

Serves: 4


1 (14.5 ounce) can whole berry cranberry sauce

1 cup apple jelly

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

4 cubes chicken bouillon, crushed

1 teaspoon prepared horseradish

2 teaspoons garlic powder

2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme

1 (4-6 pound) boneless pork loin roast

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground black pepper


1.Preheat the Roaster to 425°F.

2.Combine the cranberry sauce, apple jelly, mustard, crushed bouillon, horseradish, garlic powder, and thyme in a saucepan; bring to a boil.

3.Place pork loin in Roaster, fat side up. Sprinkle evenly with salt and pepper. Use a pastry brush and a small spoon to completely coat the pork with sauce.

4.Cook until the pork is no longer pink in the center, about 45 minutes, basting every 10 minutes with remaining sauce. An


instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 160°F (70°C).

Mom's Chicken Cacciatore

If desired, serve over hot spaghetti noodles.chaudes.


2 cups all-purpose flour for coating

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

2 (4-6 pound) chicken, cut into pieces

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 green bell pepper, chopped

1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 cup white wine

2 cups fresh mushrooms, quartered

salt and pepper to taste


1.Combine the flour, salt and pepper in a plastic bag. Shake the chicken pieces in flour until coated. Heat the oil in the unit at 425°F. Fry the chicken pieces until they are browned on both sides. Remove from Roaster.

2.Add the onion, garlic and bell pepper to the Roaster/skillet and saute until the onion is slightly browned. Return the chicken to the Roaster/skillet and add the tomatoes, oregano and wine. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes at 325°F.

3.Add the mushrooms and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 10 more minutes.

3.In Roaster (at 350°F), cook ground beef until browned – skim off fat. Mix in flour. Stir in beef broth, and cook until

slightly thickened. Add mushroom and onion mixture; stir in sour cream. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Continue cooking until sauce is hot, but not boiling. Stir in cooked egg noodles – keep on warm until ready to serve.

Easy Beef Stroganoff

Easy to make. Reheats well. Total preparation time is 30 minutes!


1 (12 ounce) package egg noodles, cooked and drained

3-4 cups fresh mushrooms, sliced

1 onion, chopped

2 tablespoons butter

4 pounds lean ground beef

8 tablespoons all-purpose flour

4 cups beef broth

2 cup sour cream

salt and black pepper to taste


1.Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook egg noodles in boiling water until done, about 8 minutes. Drain.

2.Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. In the Roaster, cook mushrooms

Poached Salmon

This dish is simple, moist and delicious. You may substitute lemon juice for the wine and omit the garlic if desired.


1 cup dry white wine

1 cup water

4 pounds salmon fillets, cut into 4-6 pieces

4 tablespoons butter, softened

3 teaspoons dried parsley

3 teaspoons chopped garlic

salt and pepper to taste


1.Heat wine and water over medium at 375°F in Roaster/skillet for 5 minutes.

2.Slide salmon pieces into poaching liquid and dot with butter. Sprinkle with dried parsley, garlic, salt and pepper. Bring to a slow boil, reduce heat to 325°F and poach until salmon flesh is firm, about 10 to 15 minutes.


3 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons red wine vinegar

2 cloves garlic, pressed

1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crumbled

1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed

3/4 teaspoon pepper

1 (4-6 pound) whole roasting chicken


1.Cut potatoes in half lengthwise; cut each piece crosswise into 1/2-inch thick slices. Place with onion in Roaster/skillet. Combine next 7 ingredients; drizzle 1 Tbsp. mixture over potato mixture and toss until evenly coated.

2.Discard giblets and neck from chicken. Rinse chicken under cold running water; drain and pat dry. Place chicken, breast side up, in center of pan, moving potatoes aside. Brush chicken, including cavity, thoroughly with soy sauce mixture.

3.Roast at 375°F for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until meat thermometer inserted into thickest part not touching bone registers 180°F, brushing chicken with soy sauce mixture every 30 minutes and stirring vegetables. Remove from oven; let chicken stand 10 minutes before carving. Serve with potatoes.

Roasted Herb Chicken & Potatoes

Arrange the potatoes, onions, and whole chicken in a pan, season with a Soy Sauce mixture, and let the Roaster oven do the rest.


1 1/2 pounds baking potatoes

1 large onion, thinly sliced

1/3 cup Kikkoman Soy Sauce
