This microTALK® radio has been manufactured to meet all required standards for radio equipment using PMR 446 frequencies as authorized. Caring for Your Radio

Your microTALK® radio will give you years of trouble-free service if cared for properly. Here are a few suggestions:

Handle the radio gently.

Keep it away from dust.

Never put the radio in water or in a damp place.

Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures.

Battery Installation

To Install or Replace Batteries:

1.

Your microTALK® radio includes two (2) rechargeable

 

 

NiMH battery packs (part No. FA-BP) and a two-port

 

rapid desktop charger (part No. PA-CD).

 

Your two-port rapid desktop charger is capable of

 

recharging:

a.One (1) radio (with battery pack installed in battery compa-rtment) and one (1) battery pack using the included battery pack guide in the radio charging well.

b.Two (2) radios (with battery pack installed in battery compartment).

c.Two (2) battery packs using the included battery pack guides in the radio charging wells.

You should fully charge the included rechargeable NiMH battery packs (part No. FA-BP) before using your microTALK® radios for the first time.

NOTE: Estimated Operation Time On Full Charge: 15 Hours.

This rechargeable battery must be recycled or disposed of properly in compliance with all applicable laws. It must not be thrown away with household rubbish.

NOTE: Do not put batteries into fire or expose to high heat. They may explode.

OPERATION

To Recharge the Rechargeable NiMH Battery Pack In Radio:

1.

Attach the POWER SUPPLY to the

2.

Place the rechargeable NiMH

the battery compartment (see “Battery Installation”).

3. Place the RADIO in the charger base.

The CHARGE light on the charger base will indicate when the radio is inserted into the charger properly.

A full charge will take approximately three (3) hours. You can leave the unit in the charger indefinitely.

It is recommended that your radio should be turned off while being charged.

3. Place the rechargeable NiMH BATTERY PACK (part No. FA-BP) in the charger base with metal contacts facing rear of charger stand.

The CHARGE light on the charger base will indicate when

the rechargeable NiMH battery pack (part No. FA-BP) is inserted into the charger properly.

A full charge will take approximately three (3) hours. You can leave the the battery pack in the charger indefinitely.

WARNING: Only the NiMH battery pack FA-BP can be recharged.

Optional Battery Charging

When the NiMH battery pack (part No. FA-BP) is used, the battery pack can be charged using the optional rapid wall mount charger (part No. PA-CW). Simply place the battery pack in the battery compartment, open the CHARGE/INTERCOM tab on the side of the unit and insert the plug into the charge jack to start charging. The batteries should be fully charged in about three (3) hours.

WARNING: Only the NiMH battery pack FA-BP can be recharged.

the unit will automatically switch to Battery Save Mode and POWER SAVER will appear in the display. This will not affect the unit’s ability to receive incoming transmissions.

Communicating with Another Person

To Talk To Another Person:

1.Press and hold the TALK button.

2.With the microphone about 5 cm (2 inches) from your mouth, speak in a normal voice.

3.Release the button when you have finished talking and listen for a response.

You cannot receive incoming calls while pressing the TALK button.

NOTE: Both radios must be tuned to the same channel and privacy code to communicate.

Listening for a Response

When You Have Finished Talking:

1.Release the TALK button to receive incoming transmissions. Your microTALK® is always in LISTENING MODE except when the TALK, CALL or MODE buttons are pressed.

Volume

To Adjust the Volume:

 

1. Press the VOLUME UP or the

A triple beep sound is used to indicate that you have reached the minimum

(1) or maximum (8) volume level.

Call Button

To Alert Another Person That You Are Calling:

1. Press and release the CALL button.

The other person will hear a two (2) second ringing tone. You cannot receive transmissions while sending a call.

NOTE: Both radios must be tuned to the same channel and privacy code to communicate.

To Select a Channel:

1.With the radio on, select any of the 8 channels by pushing the CHANNEL UP or CHANNEL DOWN button.

Lock Function

The LOCK button locks the CHANNEL UP, CHANNEL DOWN, MODE and POWER buttons to prevent accidental operation.

To Use the Lock Function:

1. Press and hold the LOCK button for Lock Button
