There are cases in which dust on the optical pick-up results in disc skipping and other |
|
|
|
CD problems. Optical pick-ups which have become defective due to dust may be |
|
|
|
thoroughly cleaned using the method described below. Also, when replacing the optical |
|
|
|
pick-up, always clean the objective lens of the new pick-up. |

PROCEDURE: |
1. Remove the actuator cover and clean the top of the objective lens as shown in |

|
|
fig. 1 below. Use the mini-swab dipped in cleaning solution. |

PRECAUTIONS:
When cleaning, hold the objective lens so that it does not exceed its range of motion. Also, avoid applying stress to the ED ARM.
2.Clean the beam splitter (BSP) as shown in fig. 2.
A)Moisten the mini-swab with the cleaning solution and lightly wipe the BSP surface with wide strokes so as to remove all the dust.
B)Wipe the surface again with a dry mini-swab to insure that nothing remains on the surface of the BSP.
