Safety instructions

Before	-	you should have noted the installation and connection instruc­
first use		tions and the operating instructions.
	- you must have		removed all parte of the transport packing. Un­
		less removed, transport packing may lead to damage to the.
		appliance and neighbouring furniture during the machine spin
		sequence,
	- you should have run an initial washing cycle without laundry to
		remove residues	of factory-applied grease on the laundry drum
		and suds tank. Programme; 60 °C coloureds with half a meas­
		uring beaker of detergent.
		Small water residues which		you may well find in the suds tank
		are due to the thorough test to which your machine was sub­
		jected in the factory.
Safety	The safety of AEG electrical			appliances conforms to the recog­
instructions	nised rules of technology and the Appliance Safety Act. As manu­
for the user	facturers, we nonetheless feel obliged to familiarise you and any
	other persons using the machine with the following instructions:
	-	Rease make sure before using your machine for the first time
		that the mains voltage and		current type indicated on the rating
		plate agree with the mains voltage and current type where the
		machine is used. The necessary fusing is also indicated on the
		rating plate.
	-	Before cleaning,	care, and	maintenance work, make sure that
		the appliance is	switched.off.	You will proceed safely if you first

pull the mans plug out of the socket or, if your machine is con­ nected by a fixed wiring connection, you switch off the FI pro­ tection switch or LP switch or completely remove the fuse (see installation and connection instructions),

-Never direct a water jet on to the outer casing,

-Never use the power lead to pul! the plug out of the socket!

Please take hold of the plug.

-Never operate the-appliance if;

■the power lead is damaged, or

■the appliance shows visible damage in the region of the

	control panel, worktop, or plinth.
-	Repairs	to electrical appliances		should		only		be	per­
	formed by a trained electrician.			Improper			repairs		may
	place the user at serious risk.
	If any other maintenance needs to be earned out, you are al­
	ways recommended, fo contact our			service centre or a repair
	shop authorised by ourselves. Only			original		>ȣ0 spare			parte
	fulfill .ail requirements,
- If the appliance is installed under a				worktop in your kitchen or
	utility room, an intermediate earthed panel must be provided as
	protection	against contact	according	to	the		installation		and
	connection	instructions when	the worktop		has		been	removed

(see special accessories).

Children may not recognise the dangers of improper use of

etectrical aiDpliances, Please		therefore	ensure	proper		super­
vision during use.
When the day finally comes to withdraw the				appliance			from
service and to replace it	with	another	machine,		please		make
sure the lock is prevented	from working, and			cut the			power
lead off and remove it. Ensure the appliance				is	properly dis­
posed of.
If the appliance is wrongiy	operated or		used	for	any	purpose

other than that for which it is intended, AEG cannot assume, lia­ bility for any possible damage.

Do not climb orr the appliance.
Small children must not be		allowed		to play-inside			the		appli­
ance.
Do not reach in to the drum while it is rotating.
When you wash with high temperatures, the glass of the load­
ing door will become hot. Do not touchl
Opening the water pipes or channels, e. g. the fluff sieve, gives
rise to danger from seeding.
In case of any fault, switch the appliance off					(pull the			plug		out)
and turn the water-tap off.
Please	keep the packaging	awayfrom children. The toil repre­
sents a specif source of		danger.		The	packaging			material
meets	ecological requirements	and can be easiiy disposed off.
You are advised to dispose of this material as quickly								as	possi­
ble.
Secure the drain hose with		the	hose	holder	against			sliding		off
the sink or bath (see section		on	'Water drainage”			in	the		instaila-
tion and connection instructions).
If you machine-wash laundry precleaned with						flammable				sol­
vents, these solvent must first have.fuily evaporated.
Never use the appliance for chemical cleaning!

Colouring/colour removal agents may be used only if frie manufacturer of these products expressiy allows them for use in machine-washing in his instructions for use. No liability can be assumed for any consequential damage.

Use only tap water. Never use any other liquids. You may use rainwater only if it is compieteiy clean, otherwise operation of the electrical solenoid valves could be disrupted.

This fourth rinse sequence can also be permanently combined.'

The Öko lock

ÖKO lock ensures 100 % detergent utilization

The automatic flowrate leature automatically adjusts the water consumption to the wash load and fabric type concerned. By ad­ ditionally pressing the economy button for small loads, you can save even more water.

Also advantageous is the possibility of selecting the shortest washing times for slightly soiled and small wash loads, e.g. in the cáse, of sports and leisure clothing.

My wool cradle takes special care of your woollens; under a much-reduced w^hing actbn, these espedaity sensitive gar­ ments are gently “rocked" to and fro in the drum.

AH used materials aré environmentally compatible. They can	be
safely disposed of or burnt in a refuse indnerator.
Regardirig the materials; The plastics can also be recycled	and
are marked as follows:
>PE< for polyethylene e. g. as used in outer wrapping and
bags inside;
>PS< for polystyrene foam e. g. as used in the packing; this

material is basically CFG-free.

The cardboard parts are made of waste paper and should be put back into the waste paper collection system.

Ecology-tips . These tips wilt help you to act in a way that shows awareness of

economical s The programmes without pre-soaking are provided for laundry
washing which is averagely dirty. You save wasNng powder and water
	in comparison vwfri programmes that do include pre-soaking.
■	Only use fuil-range washing powder				or	liquid	with	added
	bleach if the items have stains on				them which			can be
	bleached out.
■	You can keep consumption figures tow				by	filling	your	washing
	rhachine	full each time,	if it	should nonetheless			by necessary
	to wash	small quantities,	use	my "SMALL		QUANTITY” button

and add only about 2/3 to 1/2 as much washing powder or liq­ uid. Then, less water, energy, and washing powder or liquid will be used than when small quantities are washed using a normal programme,

■If your washing is only slightly to normally dirty, my E = "SAVE ENERGY” programme-, wth its lower temperature for a longer time, vwit be sufficient.

■Stains and limited areas of dirt can be removed with the right

pre-freatment. This	saves running a	programme		for	particular­
ly washing.
■ Use exactly the dosage of washing		powder	or	liquid	given	in
the manufacturer's	instructions. Using	too	much is		only	a

waste of money, and also pollutes the environment. And pay special attention to the dosage for washing that is only slightly soiled.

■It is also possible to save washing powder and protect the en­

vironment, if you have medium to very hard water, by dosing the washing powder or liquid as tor soft water and adding a separate-water-softener. That keeps a certain amount of „chemicals' out of our water-courses. Your OKO-LAVAMAT is

equipped here with a particularly effect	water pre-softening
with a 2-stoge take-up mechaniam. You will	find tips on this in
the section on ‘Adding washing powder or liquid”,

■Only add fabric softener when it is necessary, e,g, with mixed

synthetic fabrics, in order to prevent	a static	charge building
up. If you use a tumbler-dryer you	washing	will become soft
and fluffy even without a ^ric softener.
