Additional Product Information

1. This brass elevator panel was cleaned with 3MTarniShieldSilver Cleaner per the instructions

on the package.

2. 3MPolyurethane Protective Tape 8672 was applied.

3. Panels were placed in a salt chamber for one (1) week at 79 degrees F with 100% humidity.

4. The panel was then wiped down with cheesecloth to remove heavy salt build up.

This application profile was submitted by Dawn Rodahl, 3M Hawaii. This application is currently in use in the Hawaiian Islands in over twenty accounts. The account profiled has had 3M 8672 Tape in place on their doors for over 4 years. Each door used to cost the building maintenance team approximately $500 per door, every two months to refurbish. Today, these efforts have been virtually eliminated.

NOTE: This application should be considered in any location where metal is exposed to sun, salt, and humidity. This product meets ASTM E84-91a, “Standard Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials,” which is similar to the test methods specified in NFPA 255, UL No. 723, ANSI 2.5, and UBC 42-1.
