FOR GRAPHIC ATTACHMENT

Revised

[STRONG BONDS—IT’S ONE OF OUR FAMILY VALUES.]

Multiple nameplates on a common carrier for OEM ease-of-assembly.

3MHigh Performance Laminating Adhesive 467MP is applied for production of a metal nameplate.

An oven control panel backed with 3MHigh Performance Acrylic Adhesive 300LSE and 58# polycoated kraft liner.

3M would like to introduce you to some of the most popular families in the graphics industry. These families of high performance graphic attachment adhesives

are easy to spot. They’re the ones that keep labels, nameplates, and graphic overlays looking good under all kinds of conditions on all kinds of surfaces. They’re the ones that don’t lift, peel, slip, or shift. They’re the ones manufacturers have depended on for many years to provide consistent application, smooth appearance, ease of die-cutting, and exceptional performance. If you’re looking for that kind of quality and reliability, there’s only one name to look for—3M.

No matter what your application, we’ve got the right solution to meet your needs. Challenging surfaces, extreme temperatures, humidity, solvents, abrasion, you name it. Our industry-leading technology has made us the preferred choice of converters everywhere.

THE FIRST NAME IN APPLIANCE GRAPHICS

For applications like range, oven, and dishwasher control panels, which must stand up to high temperatures, humidity, and household cleaning solvents, 3MHigh Performance Adhesive 200MP is ideal. You get temperature resistance to 400°F, exceptional shear strength, and long-term aging. It also adheres extremely well to a broad range of surfaces including high-surface- energy plastics, and its smooth, even consistency enhances graphic appearance.

For bonding to low-surface-energy plastics or powder coated paints, choose 3MHigh Strength Adhesive 300LSE. This adhesive’s ability to wet low-surface- energy substrates quickly makes it ideal for laminating low-surface-energy plastics and textured substrates. It also withstands temperatures up to 300°F (short term) for most applications.

THE LATEST IN ELECTRONICS

3MHigh Performance Adhesive 200MP is ideal for many electronic applications, as it offers a unique balance of properties:

High bond strength to high-surface-energy plastics

Good chemical resistance to withstand cleaning

Excellent shear strength and resistance to edge lifting

Film and polycoated paper release liners

Electronics manufacturers count on 3M to provide the solutions which meet demanding new plastics for this industry, including new plastic blends. The offering of 3MAdhesive 300LSE complements the leading 3M adhesive 200MP for this rapidly changing market.

PERFORMANCE ENGINEERED GRAPHICS

For specialty graphics requiring an opaque white background and roll-to-roll processing—like photographic bar code printing— 3MOpaque Attachment Tape 7956MWS using 3M adhesive 200MP is an excellent choice. This high performance adhesive with a white background ready for printing makes solving performance graphic needs simple and straightforward. 3M opaque attachment tape 7956MWS is especially helpful with the increasing use of digital print equipment.

DEPENDABLE AUTOMOTIVE GRAPHICS

Graphics are used throughout the automotive environment from the radiator to the trunk, and just about everywhere

in between. These applications vary greatly in their adhesive requirements, but the flexibility of 3M high performance adhesive 200MP makes it a great choice for everything from dashboard graphics to decorative trim. It offers temperature resistance up to 400°F and, along with 3MHigh Strength Adhesive 300MP, meets the automotive non-fogging specifications.

In harsh environments (like under the hood) where graphics require a high degree of abrasion and chemical resistance, graphics are sealed between the adhesive and a polyester or polycarbonate face material for long-term durability. 3M graphics manufactured with 3M adhesive 300LSE are ideal for this type of application, adhering well to metal and plastic and withstanding extreme temperature fluctuations.

INSTRUMENTATION CONTROL PANELS

When you need graphics that can stand up to a lot of “hands-on” usage, 3M delivers. 3M high performance adhesive 200MP

is ideal for instrumentation control panels, as it resists edge lifting in a broad range of environmental conditions thanks to its high cohesive strength.

3M adhesive 200MP is the most commonly used adhesive for instrumentation panel applications because it offers:

Higher temperature, chemical, and solvent resistance

Long-term bonding to most metal and high-surface-energy plastics

Smooth, uniform caliper to enhance overlay appearance

Short-term repositionability on plastics for accurate placement

For challenging applications such as low-surface-energy plastics and powder coated surfaces, consider 3M high strength adhesive 300LSE.

GENERAL PURPOSE APPLICATIONS

3M has now increased your ability to match the adhesive to the application need with our line of screen printable adhesives. Our new 3MUV Screen Printable Adhesive SP7514 provides drop-in easy use for printing operations using UV inks. When operational and material losses due to die-cutting get large, use a screen printable adhesive. 3M also has a water-based product, 3MScreen Printable Adhesive SP7533, which provides initial tack and performance to meet the needs of most general applications.

[3M LAMINATING ADHESIVES]

3M offers the largest selection of high quality laminating adhesive products in the graphic attachment industry. Whether you need resistance to heat, humidity, chemicals, abrasion, slippage, or edge peel, our broad range of products has earned the trust of converters everywhere. Our full line of adhesive products includes many solvent-free adhesives that use advanced formulations. In addition, each adhesive is specially engineered to provide a full range of performance characteristics.

100MP HIGHEST PERFORMANCE ACRYLIC

This adhesive is designed for temperature exposure up to 500°F (short term) and/or high solvent resistance. It offers exceptional shear strength even at elevated temperatures.

200MP HIGH PERFORMANCE ACRYLIC

This solvent-free industry standard adhesive provides excellent overall performance with exceptional temperature (to 400°F short term) and chemical resistance. It provides high bond strength to most metal and HSE (high-surface- energy) plastics along with excellent shear strength to resist slippage and edge lifting. It offers short-term repositionability on plastics for placement accuracy.

220 INDUSTRIAL ACRYLIC

This solvent-free adhesive is formulated for general purpose industrial applications and will withstand temperatures up to 350°F. Properties include good shear strength, good chemical resistance, and good adhesion to metals and HSE plastics. This is an excellent adhesive to replace competition in many applications.

300 HIGH STRENGTH ACRYLIC

This adhesive is ideal for applications requiring greater initial adhesion, especially to LSE (low-surface-energy) plastic substrates. Its ability to flow quickly makes this adhesive ideal for laminating to textured plastic surfaces. Temperature performance is up to 250°F (short term) for most applications. Thin laminating adhesive products are ideal for 3M’s unique label component system.
