Application Profile

Market: Elevator

Application Description: Bonding the upper and lower panels of elevator bottom plate.

Application Method

By hand, or by using 3M pull-and-cut, definite-length, or automatic dispensers.

Key Application Requirements

High-strength bond; reliable long-term performance; labor savings; environmental safety; clean, neat appearance.

Products Replaced

Screws, rivets, liquid adhesives.

Benefits/Advantages To Customer

Reliable, long-term performance: Continuous contact between mated surfaces eliminates stress points, acts as a shock absorber to protect against fatigue and wear. VHB tape provides a good seal against environmental conditions, and compensates for thermal expansion between bonded surfaces.

Versatility: 3MVHBTape provides secure bonding between various types of surfaces, such as metal and wood.

Quiet operation: VHB tape acts as a vibration-damper and also reduces noise, without the need for an additional pad.

Easy installation: One-step bonding and sealing saves time. No special training is required.

Lower materials cost: Stress is distributed over the entire bonded area, permitting the use of lighter, thinner and less-expensive materials.

Reduced assembly cost: Drilling is reduced or eliminated. Curing liquid adhesives is also eliminated. Time-consuming cleanup and finishing of surfaces is reduced. Little or no special equipment is required.

Aesthetically pleasing: The tape is virtually invisible when applied between mated parts. Tape can be applied and removed without damaging finishes.
