Troubleshooting

Q1: I have inserted 2 AAA batteries in theTEW-T1,but nothing comes on when I press any of the

buttons. What do I do?

A1: Be sure that you have inserted the batteries properly (See 3. Hardware Installation). If you have inserted the batteries properly, remove the batteries and insert new batteries.

Q2: Can rechargeable AAA batteries be used forWi-Fidetector?

A2: No. TheWi-Fidetector can only be used bynon-rechargeablebatteries. The output voltage of rechargeable batteries are too low for theWi-Fidetector.

Q3: I turn on theTEW-T1,but I cannot detect aWi-Fisignal. What should I do?

A3: Make sure that you are not blocking the antenna of theWi-Fitester (See 4. UsingTEW-T1),and continue to scan the area, pointing the back of theTEW-T1in any direction.

Q4: What do I do if my signal source alternates between signal types such asWi-Fiand

Microwave?

A4: There is a nearby device that is causing interference. Continue to move in the direction of the detected source until you get better signal strength.

Q5: If I place theTEW-T1in my pocket with my keys or any metal object, will theTEW-T1function properly?

A5: No, it will not function properly. Any metal objects confuse the antenna.

Q6: What does it mean when the signal source changes continuously on theTEW-T1?

A6: It means that theTEW-T1cannot identify the signal source. The signal may be too weak or it might be caused by unwanted interference.

Q7: Why won't my notebook detect an access point after theTEW-T1found a strong,Wi-Fisignal?A7: 2.4 Ghz devices such as baby monitors, garage door openers, Blue tooth devices and

others can display a false positive for Wi-Fisignals. Move to a different location and begin scanning for otherWi-Finetworks.
